The first plane to take off under its own power was created by Alberto Santos Dumont, on October 23, 1906. A Brazilian who carried out his experiments in Paris. That's the story.

These men believed the impossible to the degree their detractors couldn't talk them out of it. This belief was downloaded into their subconscious mind which could care less about some truth or reality, it simply acts on the belief to manefest it into reality, it simply figures it out. Once the Wright brothers opened that portal of reality, nothing could stop the evolution of aircraft we see today which is absolutely phenomenal. This all started from someone's unflappable belief, a thought. You have a thought, you got GOD, you don't have a thought (apart) from GOD, you have a thought that IS GOD...

On August 14, 1901, Gustave Whitehead, a German-born immigrant living in Bridgeport, Connecticut, was more than likely the first to achieve manned, self-propelled, sustained flight, somewhat under control, but did not have 3-axis control. He steered the machine by shifting his body weight from side to side. Some time after this flight the Wright Brothers visited Whitehead under the guise of financing his efforts (reported by a man who worked for Whitehead at that time). My theory is that during this visit, Whitehead shared some ideas which led the Wrights to 3-axis control which they tested and built into their 1902 glider. Add the fact that there were no photos of Whitehead's #21 machine in flight - only photos of it on the ground. And zero original source documentation such as journals, letters, telegrams, etc. In 1903, the Wrights added an engine and propellers to what was essentially the 1902 glider (they never considered propulsion a big challenge), and on December 17, 1903 invited a few spectators and had the high-end camera at the ready. Kids, if you want to own the patents and make it into the Smithsonian, document your work... Thoroughly.

The Wrights didn't fly in 1903, they just glided, any image of real flight was from 1908, in Paris, never before! This is a distortion of the facts!

Met this guy a long time ago. Was wearing my SR-71 shirt, I'm not sure where but we went to this museum and he was Volunteering I believe, and he told me that he flew in the plane at that museum or maybe it was another (it was the SR-71 with two cockpits he mentioned there were only two). It was fascinating the way he spoke, told me things like how you could look at the photos taken by the plane, and you could look at a crowd of people and count the shoelaces. That there was a documentary that got played every year on the History Channel and there was a minor bit of misinformation about the fuel levels because of the speed and or height the plane flew at, and that he and other retired pilots would always try to get changed via contacting them but they apparently never listened. Sad to learn about his passing, this man is a legend.

Gustave Whitehead actually flew 2 years before bicycle brothers did in their brown pants flyer. And why did They have to use a catapult too get their "flyer" up in the air for their demo for the military? and why didn't they use wheels instead of skids...? for great inventors who worked on bicycles and made the motor's allegedly, they seem too be lacking in something I just can't quite put my finger on it. 🤔

The Smithsonian Institution recognized the Wright Brothers’ primacy long before 1948, and the institution previously promoted the fable that Langley’s _aerodrome_ flew first. The matter had nothing to do with the claim for Santos Dumont’s primacy, and you’d have known that if you’d ever done any genuine research.

Not hard to learn but big amounts of new stuff to learn. Flight school is also lots to learn. They want to make sure you know everything that has to do with plane maintenance, what to do in emergency etc. Flight in general is safe because of all the information one must know memorized in case of any scenario.
