Down by that in front of the stadium is the new track that they let people drive on for it was in mu graduation they were arranging for it to jave a new replacement of the rubber coat on it so for what it is worth, it was supposed to be for the graduation of 2020. So yeah they also put fake turf down for the one field of the 3 that were there when I went there for in my sophomore 2017-18 year 2nd year of being there they did awau with the real grass to save costs.. oh but the west building is now a retaining wall for staff parking lot wjere a now retired special ed homeroom teacher of my same sophomore, uear fwiw said she used to work for the bremerton junior jigj building and her rents went to west high I am pretty sure she said. Anyways she said it was a long hallway that was the long retaining wall now the staff parking lot has that runs along I want to say 13th? The road that matches up with 15th street at one intersection of the parcel.
Went there from 90 to 94
I was 4yrs old I was a princes with groucho Marx glasses 🎃
the focsel tavern Harry Larsen's 94 pine First bar open after porobition 1933
Excellent photos...lived in Seattle on capitol hill 1971 through 1975...graduated UW 1975, worked at Frederick and Nelson downtown while a student...what a beautiful time and so much great music...❤❤❤
GREAT TIMES!
Who is this?
Not bed
Santa, Darth Vader and Bums. some things in Seattle never change.
Born there 1968, I might have been down there i used to take the bus and go to the movies and the center and toys galore by myself, how time has changed.
I AM FROM THAT AREA. NOW IN CALIFORNIA AND I CRIED THE LAST TIME THERE THE TRAFFIC AND OVERALL FEELING REMINDED ME OF NYC. SEATTLE IS GONE AS I KNEW IT.
When the city was alive and well and humanoids still existed compared to yuppy infested glass garbage dump it is today😡😡😡the 70s were the primo yrs in Seattle and the 60s were even better
Fine photography field trip, this really captures the feeling of Seattle at that time.
Thank you for your service, Dick! We appreciate you.
I loved Melvyn’s.
The zipper at 0:39 looks like it was made by All-American Scoreboards.
They closed that one and became a Walmart (also closed)
Back when life was simple n easy today the covid age crime and drugs Seattle is shitty went to hell
This was Seattle before the "progressive" lunatics turned it into a shithole.
Awesome video of Halloween 1968.
Liberals have DESTROYED Seattle . Everything is OK in Seattle now . It's OK to camp , or make that live , in public parks and on sidewalks . It's OK to shoot heroin and crap where ever you like . It's liberal everybody ! Like ALL Democrat controlled cities !
Those were some of the best years to be a kid. Simple times.
Love seeing all the 80’s merchandise! Thanks for posting! :-)
This was when Seattle was cool. I miss it. Seattle has turned into a dump. I don't recognize it anymore.😔
Seattle was a dump full of drunks and junkies in 1978.
Wonderful tribute to your Grandpa! Love watching your old family movies, back when times seemed simpler and innocent. Bless you and your family.
Open! Open! Open!
Stupid bankruptcy killed this awesome business. Mervyn's was my favorite store. I used to go there a lot back in the day. R.I.P. Mervyn's 1949 - 2008
I think by 1978 the first big wave of out of towners were already coming in. Housing prices started relentlessly going up. My sisters and I had our pictures taken with Santa at Frederick and Nelson's for six years in a row starting in 1954. I miss Bob Hale's hobby shop which basically made way for the downtown Monorail station. Manning's restaurant, the Orpheum Theater, the Colonial, the Blue Mouse, the soda fountain at Bartell's, Wide World of Music, Twin TeePees, the Embassy Theater, fireworks at Green Lake...
My Uncle George Perry went through training at this base in May of 1943. I have the group picture that he had taken on base with all those he had graduated from training.
My dad, Thomas Beckman. arrived there for training on April 7, 1943, and graduated June 1.
AWESOME 👍👍👍👍😁
'78, the year I was born, at Virginia Mason hospital. I would of been 8 mo old in December of that year. do the math
Seems this post hits home for a lot of people (Ok, for some people) - it did me as well. I arrived in Seattle in Oct 1976 (right after college) to visit a friend, and stayed 9 years - the most fondly remembered period in my life. On the date these photos were shot, I was working at Capitol Music downtown on 3rd Avenue, just south of Pine Street. It was the biggest source of sheet music and books in the NW. It my first "real job" there - and I still have friends from then. I'm one who does not like what Seattle has become - this was the period to be there. I still visit every few years but its always bittersweet...
A lot had change
RIP Mervyn's. Went out of business 11 years ago.
3:19 mark. I recognize that spot. That's "The Cave" at Pike Place. One of the best busker places for the acoustics. Go down the stairs right by Flying Fish. first level takes you to a balcony with bathrooms on your left, shop entrances on your right, go straight ahead to the railing and look down you are looking at the center-right of the frame. If you come around and come down the stairs to the bottom, turn left, you will walk right into the area of the foreground. In the mid-1990s I had a job working 6-11 AM on Cap Hill. Some days instead of going straight home, if it was nice I would hang out at the Market and listen to the buskers, drop a few bucks for them.
The school looked so different then!
Good stuff, excellent choice of song as Bing Crosby was actually born in the Puget Sound area.
Awsome video
Back then everything was on McDonald's dollar menu
Wow I remember the accordion guy
I love this video brought me back to my high school days Thanks for sharing so many great memories of downtown Seattle in my high school days. Do you know if Mr. Eilers taught at Ballard High School at any time?
Not that I'm aware of but maybe?
Thanks for the pictures. My house was about 2 miles away from the mall. I was 14 then.
Thank you for all these pictures. Oh how I remember and miss these days gone by. I was born and raised in Seattle, what a great city it use to be.
Thank you.
Woolworth,Meyers music,Warshals!, Frederick & Nelson. just some of the store I remember as kid going to downtown Seattle. I remember my mom taking my sister and my little brother and I. sure brings backs some memories.
This was my first Christmas in Seattle. I arrived in May 1978. Thanks for sharing. Great memories. I especially liked the cars in the pictures.
Back when Seattleites knew how to use a public bathroom. Fast forward to 2018, Seattle people pull their pants down right in full view and shit all over the sidewalks. Must be a behavior learned from San Francisco since Seattle loves to copy everything San Francisco does.
Both cities are attracting the same bad element from using the same enabling techniques for addiction and mental illnesses from the same types in political office. It's sad to see both cities in this state of decline with bums and junkies.
This was before Seattle became the crazed, leftist commie shit hole it is today . Seattleites in these pictures actually knew how to use a public bathroom and NOT shit on the sidewalks.
