Really nice footage, dead calm conditions. Soft day 😊
@@Pfessor_Moriarty soft indeed, not great conditions for the phone
Nice :)
Thanks Mark...hard to keep the young wans silent though 😅
I enjoyed the video. Good to see the railway bridge open. Fist time for me. 'was wondering is there any coverage of the construction of 'The Mile Tunnel' as we called it and the first train going through it. 'Been through it myself a couple of times.
What cargo was she bringing in?
@tdr2512 it's usually fertiliser or animal feed. I wouldn't have access to that info however
Nice to see some footage further down river. Really good close up of the vessel
Very nice footage, does it need the area close to the bow tidied up? Was hard to tell if it's the paint or something else
Scrapped away it seems. Must have rubbed against a quayside somewhere.
Ran past there this morning, more water there and a not as clear, I'm sure he was there. somewhere, great capture Andrew.. :)
This was between 11 and 12 ish yesterday Mark, tide very low
So, where are all the lifeboats? I only saw three on this side; I imagine the same the other side. Six, to carry more than three hundred passengers and crew?! Nice video, thanks!
Those boats carry 50 people each, easily!
@@wellifthemediasaysit Right; especially that little one with the red cover!🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
Thanks for posting Andrew - just been on their website to see the scope of their tours. Have you seen her before?
Many times Martyn, a regular
Nice video. Great spot you have there.
Was she used to lift the section out of the barrow bridge
No, it was lifting equipment into the gas fired station at Great Island
Andrew is this in Tanzania? mbeya
Certainly is, don't know if there's a connection though
Great video, the scenery is lovely. You got a nice spot there.
Envious bloody well envious 😂 thanks for uploading Andrew 💯
Just fortunate yesterday, was moving the punt at high water to get shelter in the village 😅
Nice Andrew. I winder does their presence indicate good availability of food - i.e. an umproving quality of water.
It's a good question Liam, there was a lot of food in before Christmas, sprat and herring, so that would have encouraged them. But at this stage I'm not sure. Hopefully it's not a sign of hunger and lack of food at sea. I just don't know for sure
Thanks for ALL your media content in 2023, long may it continue Please.💯
Thanks for the comments and the map Martyn, have a great 2024
Magic Andrew
This is a very cool feature.
It's certainly not something you see every day 🙂
Beautiful spot Andrew. I’d side with The Templars ferrying 👍
Thanks Martyn, obviously the smuggling intrigued me
Nice to see it up close Andrew
Thanks Mark 😊
Absolutely stunning video Andrew. No doubt the monks used to be similarly inspired by such sunrises. Regards. Kevin
That's a good point, I'm sure that spectacle as they said morning prayers would energise them 🙏
Stunning absolutely stunning. Peace & tranquility personified ❤️💯🚣♀️
Can't beat early morning for wonderful light and silence
Ye referring to pill Andrew. I was born and bred in Newport Monmouthshire South Wales and an area down by the docks is called Pillgwenlly which is abbreviated by locals and known as Pill. It’s well known (some tell me 😉🤫) as a district of prostitution . Apparently the full name derived from King Gwynllyw founder and patron saint (also adopted patron saint of choice by welsh pirates) of Newport in the 5th century. In his ea rly days as an active pirate 🏴☠️ he kept and maintained his ships in the pill at Pillgwenlly. Maybe over a coffee we can chat about stories of pirates/ fishing oh and prostitution 😂😂😂
I'd struggle to add anything to one of those discussion points Martyn, great info, very interesting and relevant
@@tidesntales if ever we get together for a ☕️ ye might be able to enlighten me on medieval ships ballast. We seemed to be blessed on our stretch of Bannow estuary with what I’d call non-Irish rock/stones almost quartz like. As the estuary was a trading thoroughfare to Clonmines outpost + castles in medieval times I’m just wondering if the material is from faraway shores and used as ballast on incoming traders?
Did my apprenticeship as a fitter/turner so anything engineering wise is always of interest + I use to train spot as a kid back in 🏴as had family with GWR (Great Western Railway) so ❤trains (steam pref) + love fishing. So Andrew ye have hit a hat trick here for me 👍
It's incredible to see this system at work, all dating to 1906 I believe, now lying redundant until CIE get the finger out and repair the dolphins protecting the center piece
Well done on the videos Andrew 👍
Thanks Martyn
👌
Appreciate this. Went down a waterford port rabbit hole to see how it performs. Its great to see this activity.
That's Brilliant Andy. Ought to send the footage to one of the environmental shows at RTE etc.
That's huge
So peaceful
Thats the express
Thanks Paul, don't know how I made that mistake

Excellent Andrew, great blog also :)
Thanks Mark
That was a hell of a rescue, ships lucky
Nice to see Andrew, hope the dolphins left some for them :)
Great sound by the river down there Andrew..
Some Morning For It :)
Lucky man to have experienced these lovely creatures up close and personal 👍🐬😊🐬
Sure was. I've seen a small pod on a few occasions at Cheekpoint, but never anything this special
Just back fom a walk by the river, saw that fishing boat headed for the city :)

Lovely shot Andrew!
Here before 30 subscribers. What drives You To do better at something? See ya =O
Have you ever heard of fishing the Campile Pill River? I fished there a week ago and caught nothing but there was fish splashing every now and then on the surface!
It's tidal and there would be plenty of fluke etc. Mullet too possibly
I walked here today from jack meades after seeing this video, very nice.
Hi. I've been interested in buying a kayak/small boat for rowing around the Waterford estuary. I'm 18 and I've only gone kayaking a few times. Apart from a life jacket, what other safety precautions do you take while out on the water? I'd love to be able to row freely around the estuary. Is there any training I'd have to do first? Thanks in advance
Hi Eavan, I'd do some bit of training, but the three things I'd suggest are 1. Get a tide book and get to understand the tides and how they run. 2. Pay attention to forecast and if possible always ask a local where possible about conditions. 3. Get to know an area well, what's underneath you, any dangers eg shipping and slowly build your confidence. Another thought is take part in something where others can show you the way, training, a course, or maybe the annual kayak run from Cheekpoint to Waterford.
Nice one Andrew, they all blink at their own frequency I believe as per the charts of the estuary...
It's a very Peaceful Place down at the Poles..
Like the Pan Down, like the start of star Wars...😊
Nice one Andrew :)
A Ghost Ship maybe...:)
