Thank you. P&O has a great history sailing out of Sydney. I think of some of their great ships that were built in the United Kingdom that were based here like Arcadia, Himalaya, Oronsay and the Oriana which was the first ship i sailed on. I am sad to see this happen.

@@Kirribilli_ships There is a cruise company based on the River Thames at Tilbury called Ambassador Cruise Line. Their largest ship, Ambience, operated for P&O Cruises Australia between 2007 and 2020. During this time, it was called Pacific Dawn. I think it is fair to say that the arrival into Sydney Harbour is more picturesque than Tilbury!

@@ThamesShips I remember Pacific Dawn, she was a frequent visitor to Sydney Harbour and later Brisbane. It's great that Ambassador Cruise Line now has her sailing out of Tilbury, She is a very nice ship.

Yes it woul be great if an Australian Cruise company could be formed to fill the void. Cruising is very popular in Australia so a bit of competition would be a great move.

@@Kirribilli_ships I totally agree, however what I would really like to see is the paddle steamer Waverley tie up at the overseas passenger terminal at the Rocks! Ah, I can only dream!

Thanks it was great to watch and it was very loud. It's unusual to see fireworks used on the Sydney Opera House, the only other time the Opera House is used in a fireworks display is New Years Eve.

@@Kirribilli_ships Yes - I watch the Sydney New Year's Eve fireworks on TV. They are always very impressive as well.

Thank you. The green and yellow are Sydney Ferries that bring commuters from all parts of Sydney into Circular Quay where they connect with Trains and Trams that travel into the City. The blue white Ferries are privately owned and run a high speed service tho Manly, these Ferries also do Whale watching cruises. This time of year thousands of Whales make their way along Sydney's coastline on their annual migration.

Yes I agree, and Queen Elizabeth was a very elegant looking ship. British Shipbuilders and designers created some very impressive and famous ships over the years.

@@Kirribilli_ships Yes - though sadly the shipbuilding industry in the UK has seriously declined over the years.

Yes I agree, I admire the skill and craftsmanship of the people that create these detailed models. There are some impressive maritime models on Cunard Ships.

how fortunate you are to have crossed on QM1. i was only able to board her in 1965 after the worlds fair. also the United States. these visits far out impressed me over the fair. esp. the Queen Elizabeth. later in college i boarded her several times in ft lauderdale before Tung bought her. berthed there also was the stunning France.

​@@geodot595That's great you visited Queen Elizabeth when she was in Fort Lauderdale, she was a beautiful ship. I am sorry I never saw her or travelled on her, she was a before my travelling days. To have visited the United States must have been amazing. I have sailed on Queen Elizabeth 2, Queen Elizabeth built in 2010 and Queen Mary 2 and visited Queen Mary in Long Beach but never sailed on her. When you visited Queen Elizabeth in Fort Lauderdale was she in good condition?

@@Kirribilli_ships in Ft Lauderdale i boarded QE1 several times i think it was 1970. Her condition of course deteriorated from when i boarded in 1965. exterior rust had started and the paint was dull. baking in the hot sun also made interior spaces very humid and stale air. still beautifull but unkempt and little maintenance anywhere. i think only 1 side of the ship was painted facing the parking lot. i will never forget, the epitome of liner pre war design.

​@@geodot595 That is interesting to hear what she was like when you visited her in 1970. It must have been wonderful to walk around the interiors of that impressive ship. It's sad that her time in Fort Lauderdale was not more successful.

Thank you. The Sydney Seaplanes leave from Rose Bay on Sydney Harbour and fly to the Hawkesbury River and Cottage Point in the beautiful Ku-Ring-Gai National Park.

Thank you, this must have been a great experience for the passengers to listen to a classical concert while sailing down Sydney Harbour on a beautiful Autumn afternoon. She is a very interesting ship, I like her long bow and her streamlined shape.

Thank you for your kind comments. Sailing from Circular Quay and passing the Sydney Opera House on the way out of this beautiful Harbour is a great experience. The Celebrity Solstice is a very handsome looking ship.

That's great your cruising on Royal Princess in October, where are you cruising to?

Thank you. Sydney Harbour can berth three cruise ships, one at Circular Quay and two at White Bay Cruise Terminal. During peak season in January to March ships oftern Anchor at Athol Bay and use a tender service to the Sydney Opera House which Queen Victoria did for one day recently. The most cruise ships Sydney has had in one day I think is five with two ships Anchored.

Thank you. Sydney is a great city to arrive and depart viewed from the decks a Cruise Ship. The Holland America ships are handsome and elegant. Noordam looked beautiful arriving that morning.

She is sailing to Brisbane, Darwin, Hong Kong, Keelung, Kagoshima, Kochi, Kobe, Shimizu, Yokohama (Japan) where she arrives on the 27th of April then she sails to Vancouver via Miyako, Aomori City, Hakodate, Muroran!, Kushiro City, Whittler, Alaska, Hubbard Glacier, Glacier Bay, Sitka, Juneau then Vancouver arriving 18th of May. Amazing Cruise!

Yes the mornings are getting cooler. When this was filmed at 7am it was 19 Degrees Celsius or 66 Degrees Fahrenheit and it is currently 26 Degrees Celsius or 78 Degrees Fahrenheit.

That's an interesting comparison, both are quite new ships and their designs are very unusual to look at. Where did you travel to on the Resilient Lady and the Celebrity Edge?

I'm sorry that she is not returning. I have heard lots of great reviews about her from passengers. Hope she returns to Australia sometime in the future.

@@Shipspotting_Vietnam Yes I agree, she has a beautiful long traditional Ocean Liner Bow. It looks alot like the Bow of Queen Elizabeth 2 that is now retired in Dubai and is a hotel, it also has features that reminds me of the French Line's Normandie.

It has to be remembered that in the early 1970's the passenger ship industry was in crisis, alot of ships were sent to the breakers, and at that time in the mid 70's The Love Boat series was launched and it had a dramatic positive effect in helping the cruise industry by encouraging people to take a cruise. and new ships were eventually ordered
