Camino de Santiago Time Lapse Series - 09: Carrión de los Condes (Sep. 28, 2020)
after a day without a Holy Grail time lapse, I was craving to shoot one¡ Luckily, I stopped for the nicht in Carrión de los Condes, which has it all: a river for some long expo, and am ancient bridge over it that gets illuminated at night and also provides some light trails from the cars that occasionally cross it.
I picked a lovely spot right by the river, submerging my tripod some 50 cm in the water. My Canon 6D Mark II with EF 24-105 lens was set at 35 mm. Running it from iPhone, I started shooting at 0.6 sec. at 6:55 pm, and went all the way to 15 sec until 7:32, finishing with a total of 211 frames.

Camino de Santiago Time Lapse Series - 08: Hornillos del Camino (Sep. 27, 2020)
Переглядів 903 роки тому
The skies continued to be beautiful and motion-filled throughout the day. Stepping over the hill and getting the first view of Hornillos del Camino was a time lapse site not to be missed - fortunately, just to the left off the Camino there was a nice little hill to get up on top and set up my tripod with Canon in the auto time lapse mode, and to sit back and soak up this perfect Meseta vista!
Camino de Santiago Time Lapse Series - 07: Castrojeriz (Sep. 27, 2020)
Переглядів 873 роки тому
The skies were beautiful that morning, with just the perfect movement of the clouds to make for a great, motion-filled time lapse, so I stopped on what little hill I could find next to the Camino and spent some time taking in the view as my Canon was taking its time to do the same in auto time lapse mode.
Camino de Santiago Time Lapse Series - 06: Hontanas at Sunset (Sep. 26, 2020)

I made sure to arrive early enough at the Albergue in order to have the time to shower, wash, eat and then go out to scout out this spot on the hill above and to the right of the village. Ths was my third Holy Grail time lapse. My Canon 6D Mark II with EF 24-105 lens was set at 40 mm and mounted on the tripod. I was running it via the Canon App on my iPhone. The first frame was shot at 1/6 sec ...

After having scouted out the perfect spot (see my previous video), I returned to this epic location in the evening, ready to shoot my second-ever Holy Grail time lapse. The Burgos Hill top was surprisingly empty - I had feared that I'd have to fight for a spot. I quickly set up my tripod and, having the sunset at about 120 degrees to my right, I waited until only the towers of the Cathedral wer...
Camino de Santiago Time Lapse Series - 05: Burgos - daytime (Sep. 25, 2020)

On all my previous Caminos, I had no idea there was a hill looming right over the old historic center of Burgos and offering a magnificent view of the Cathedral and the downtown. I wanted to shoot another Holy Grail time lapse (coming up next), but since I arrived in Burgos early and had a lot of time, I decided to go up on the Hill in the afternoon to scout it out and pre-select a location for...
Camino de Santiago Time Lapse Series - 04: Atapuerca (Sep. 24, 2020)
Переглядів 723 роки тому
This is my very first attempt at shooting a Holy Grail evening-to-night time lapse. I arrived in Atapuerca fairly late, and noticed that the skies had sufficient, but not too many clouds. The Church of San Martin Obispo is a few blocks to the right of the Camino, and it was hard to tell whether I would have a good shot of it, so it was a lucky gamble to find that the church is at the edge of to...

The first one in this series is this mini time lapse recording done on the Alto de Perdón summit, roughly between Pamplona and Puente la Reina, on day 3 of the French Camino. Thank you so much - happy you've found it useful! My sleeping bag - I got it 16 years ago before my first Camino, so I don't know if you can still get it, the name is "Freetime Mikropak 600D" - I am sure something similar is available, also depending on where you are in the World (this one was bought in Germany). As I said, important for me was the weight (600 g) as well as the fact that it has down/feathers. The foot cream is sold in every toiletry store in Germany, but I haven't seen it anywhere in the US, for example. So it depends where you live / shop. It's not a particular brand (there are various), but the type: deer tallow. The German word for deer tallow is Hirschtalg. I just put this German word into amazon.com - they have it: www.amazon.com/Balea-Foot-Cream-Hirschtalg-100/dp/B073YBKSZ5/ref=sr_1_3?crid=2XBE3AWOLBSCE&keywords=hirschtalg+creme&qid=1636282379&qsid=130-9612386-7216759&sprefix=hirschtalg%2Caps%2C150&sr=8-3&sres=B073YBKSZ5%2CB006IB5T4W%2CB00TTD9BRC%2CB01ES349CY%2CB000NWGCZ2%2CB00D14EJCC%2CB00AREGVUM%2CB01N7ULJSD%2CB074RDF9WN%2CB000JVCBBG%2CB0002QB9NE%2CB000ORV3NC%2CB07FM9HHYR%2CB001B1MZ5U%2CB01HOHBS6G%2CB084SFNJX4%2CB00314GCJU%2CB014MRR7NY%2CB0073E7JFK%2CB000H0JYYG&srpt=SKIN_MOISTURIZER I hope this helps, Jacqui - let me know if you have other questions. In the double occupancy private rooms, is it 30 euros for the room? Or 30 for each person? Im traveling with a partner and we are wondering if it doesnt make sense to just pay an extra 3-5 euro each per day to have private rooms. But I cant find anyone to confirm if the private rooms are 30 for the room (so 15 per person), or 30 per person in the private room.

    • @caminographer705
      @caminographer705 Рік тому

The prices vary, depending on when and where you are, and they have gone up since the pandemic. Many of the private Albergues nowadays charge around 15 euros per bed in a shared dorm, and their double-rooms (for 2) tend to run at around 40 to 50 for 2. So yes - paying 5 euros per person extra could get you the comfort of a private double-room. Hope this helps, and Buen Camino!

    • @caminographer705

Michael: I never (!) had a problem carrying on my backpack (the one shown here) on board, and we’re talking 2005-2020, both on flights from / to the US as well as within Europe. Moreover, this is the “luggage” I covered quite a bit of distance with on my many adventures in Central and South America. I just always made sure the weight didn’t go over 10 kg and, if it did, I’d take something heavy out and put it on - depending on the trip, it would be the sweater / jacket, lately also my heavy camera, or what have you. Hope this helps, and Buen Camino!

Strangely enough, I first thought it could have smth to do with Don Quichotte. But it's not! ))) Those people are Pilgrims, either on foot or on horseback, and they make their way along the Camino to Santiago. The sculpture was erected in 1996. Below, engraved into one of the monuments you can read: Donde se cruza el camino del viento con el de las estrellas. Which translates into English as: ... where the path of the wind crosses that of the stars. Thank you for this time lapse, Max.)
