Can't believe the state of the track then, looking back, dirt just tipped straight out of the tipper and left there. All gone now and only high end housing left, actually looks nice place to live now😃
These guys could ride! Look at these bikes squirming so much...what a handful! 100% credit to the riders. Now, todays racing...as a biker, watching the Isle of Man TT leaves me in awe every time I watch those guys! Nuts!
Now thats racing!
Sad, no team orders but lost anyway.
I don't suppose you have leg 2?
Being a long time Katana owner ,I found it amazing that such an outdated bike managed third. My heart swelled with pride and I realised Heyes and Holden were both superstars. VF 750's were the next level then.
Mal Pitman tracked that bike down and is restoring it. May have been finished by now. It was mostly still complete and had sat around a lot in a shed, even had Dellorto carbs like car Webers. Not in the 800 though.
Thanks so much for the upload
Super unsafe & completely dumb a Actual human out almost on the racing line standing there simply to tell them what they already know it's wet ,How much more dumb can they get you wouldn't believe how fast this ginny pig would loose its life over such a dumb move & definitely don't see this dumbness today or since.
Buddy ❤️ my hero
Awesome... just raw machines, raw racing, raw skill.
I remember watching as a teenager thinking don't undertake down this righthander Graeme Crosby the 16-inch front wheel will let you down and it did.
I remember hanging off the fence cheering Len Willing on for this race as a teenager. Amazing memories
実況がワイン ガードナーだって オーストラリアのレースなんだ
Paul Lewis. 650 Yamaha. Surely not a twin.
Keep the videos coming thanks for the memories I had the privilege to be at a bunch of those races during the 80 and 90.
No legs dangling as they approach the corners, no not one.😊
A disqualification yet the banned rider carries on racing, crashes, riders laying injured on the grass infield, mechanical failures, riders pushing bikes around the track while the race goes on around them, bike with exhaust hanging off, Crosby sprinting round the track to get his teams crashed bike back so he can continue to race, wheel changes on regular road bikes in under 2 minutes, even an all women team there were more incidents in this one race than season of moto gp. ah the good old days
Sad we don't have it now
スズキKATANAやホンダVF750、ヤマハXJ900…この頃のスーパーバイクは本当に美しいね。
Killed by nostalgia. I spent countless weekends at Oran Park as a teenager. Never heard anything as terrifying as the sound of these bikes at the end of the straight. Think I was 12 years old the first time.
I remember the 750 two strokes here. Hansford got killed in a car. Mum's friend told her her son's were OK when they rode bikes but didn't have cars. Video clarity is absolute garbage.
🙌🏍️
How many guys took off the 4 into 4 pipes and tossed them in the trash for 4 into 1 race pipes? The 4 into 4s now worth their weight in gold.
Nice track and real race! Videos like this are a treasure.
The VF750 was a pos. WG likely got turfed for saying so.
'i got winded when i was 11yrs old, & i rolled around on the ground also..'
Too bad they could not have froze the technology at this point.
Roger Heyes at the end of that opening montage , wonder what he’s doing these days , he was a no shit guy, so definitely not politics.
Oooooh .. he’s wearing that Crosby sweater.
So much fun to watch 🇺🇸
War ein gutes Rennen!
Love my Suzuki GS1000G. A winner still today.
A GS1000 with a shaft .. brilliant
What awesome racing! Love the different lines between the GP bikes and F1 bikes
I was hiring GS 1000 Suzukis from Action Suzuki North Sydney in the 1979 period . Greg McShane took the saddle one day with me on the back . From the Crossroads just outta Sydney , to Western Creek Canberra , we arrived , a fair bit under two hours .
Great documentary on the history of the 6 hour. Brought back a load of memories,
Wonderful time.
Great to see the lads again . Thanks .
Was there that day . All of them were potential World Champions , given half a chance .
Michael Doohan once said that if you could ride fast at Lakeside, you could ride fast anywhere. Doohan rode fast at Lakeside and went on to win 5 World Championships. The math speaks for itself.
If you can ride good anywhere you can ride good everywhere!
Fun fact: As of 2023, Yamaha Pitmans Motorcycles in Adelaide is still in business. It has also branched out into Yamaha Pitmans Marine where they obviously sell and service boats.
My own bike is a 1985 Yamaha XJ900f. Bloody beautiful thing to ride and for a 38 year old road bike it does have some grunt.
Lol .. first bike to stop … Ducati
Great racing , everyone wondering why it just died in the arse .. soon as they capped it with a 1000cc limit probably started the decline.
When manufacturers started making bikes just to win the race, along with some 'creative' interpretations of the rules as to what constitutes "production".
@@robertgreen8213 Yea mate I hear you , but they could do that with 1000cc bikes as easily as 1100cc bikes , think we were watching Doohan become a future person of interest during this race. As team Marlboro Yamaha were used to just steaming past everyone before this .. Warren Willing’s eyes & ears would have pricked up.
It seams it is a Honda Cup..
Thanks for these latest uploads
Hasland and Neil have the same engine except his is 1150 cc and Neil’s is 1000 cc commentators have no idea.
Great to hear Greg H in the commentary..Crosby at his beastmaster best
Cracking race, hats off to all three for various reasons. Always been a Crosby fan I must admit. Miss the Swann series with the internationals and mix of bikes, but I guess times have changed.
One of the most amazing motorcycle race i can see!!! WTF shimmies !
