I used to do this journey every 6 weeks to get to my mum in Tregaron, Loved it.. Sadly i dont do it anymore..Times change.. Thankyou for watching it
Hi, v informative!….I’m about to go through a steep learning curve trying to work out how to connect my 8 keyboards…via a mio xl / Cubase and use various CME bits and bobs….! I want to try ditching midi cables completely…is this possible?….TODoc.
Hi, I ave tried various combinations using the CME Widi devices and they all work.. I have also connected multiple devices to a ipad pro. .. Note some devices do not have power thru the din5 connector so you will have to use the right cme device for it to work. When setting up groups it can be frustrating . but i was careful to name each device, an also when using a midi hub(MIO10) having a 1 to one relationship.. I used and android phone to set them up.. Making sure you turn them on so the y dont interfere with each other is also key.. IE turn off those not in use while setting up . when. Generally i think they are good especially with the Ipad. I have used them to connect 2 ipads to my MIO hub and also a Microsoft pc.. Have fun... I HATE CABLES 😂 😂
I like this

@@chrismartin6690 lol. Am sure nobody has ever said that to you before
Hello how can I connect that to any professional arrangers?the keyboard supports only devises with driver, Windows OS/Mac/Android please help
Hi Mehebbet.. You dont need any drivers, the A49 is a MIDI compliant device and will connect to any MIDI device with a 5 Pin DIN socket. The Argon is Midi compliant as well and has 5 pin DIN sockets on the back.. So all you need todo is connect the 5 PIN din OUT on th3e back of the A49 to the IN 5 Pin Din on thje back of the Argon. You then use the USB socket on the back of the A49 to connect to a USB power sauce.. You dont need to connect to a computer. THere are other ways to connect But I think this answers your question.. In a ddition IF you connect the USB port from the Argon to a computer/Ios/anddroid device then you can use the modal app to manage the Argon. I prefer using DIN connections direct from the instrument to the Argon(or other midi devices), THis is because the is inherent Latenscy issues with USB MIDI. I connect the Audio sirect from the Argon to a recording device/amplifier.. But you could use the sound via computer, but it will not be as good. In addition If you connect both the Argon and the A49 to a computer/ios device(Ipad) and also connect the DIN sockets with the cable suggested below then you can use the A49 to send MIDI to apps on the Ipad or computer, you dont need any specific drivers, you just use a generic midi device when connecting to a DAW. You can get a 5 Pin MIDI cable from Amazon. search for "MIDI Cable 5 Pin DIN Male to Male for MIDI Controller" I hope that was helpful to you . Please message me again if you would like a furthe explanation of how to connect MIDI devices. THanks for asking a question
@@chrismartin6690 I connect as you say but A49 doesn't work when connected to power source, only when connected to computer USB port power comes and works
@@mehebbet.memmedov hello Mehebbet.. if you connect the USB port on the A49 to a power sauce and then, the DIN 5 port to the DIN 5 port on a MIDI synth / spound engine it should work, THe next question is did you set the output port on the A49 to match the MIDI port being used on the MIDI device you are plugged into. To do this check the ,midi port assigned on the midi device being used and then set the midi channel on the A49 to match.. You do this by pressing the function button on the A49 once (it will light red), then look along the top of the A49 keyboard and you will see numbers from 1 to 16 (MIDI Channels ), Press the key below the number shown that corresponds to the channel you are using on the MIDI device you are connected to.
please show me your setup and the devices you are connected to using etc..
@@chrismartin6690 if you have this device, connect it to a 5v power source and check it. it doesn't work for me. only when it is connected to the computer via USB, the led lights are on and it works
Thanks as always Chris - lovely
HI Chris love this video do you have any Dordogne videos with the Dordogne river in it or the rolling Dordogne hills or a Dordogne vineyard please message me back
Sorry no and thanks for watching it, I take a keyboard wherever I go. I loved the sunflowers.
Chris you are amazing, this has solved my issue! Thanks very much.
Thanks, I also found I can connect the Roli to other devices as well... for example I have added a CME widi dongle to my Iconnectivity hub and now can send data from my Roli to ANY of my devices.
This sounds great, thanks for posting! How did you connect the seaboard to the modal? I've got a seaboard block and a cobalt 5s and I'm trying to connect them, but failing so far...
Just seen this, I have connect many ways since doing this... YOU need to connect the Roli to a MIDI hub, then you can connect to anything that is MPE midi compliant... so i have tried various setups and now i ten to use a BLE midi dongle from CME Widi this enables you to connect the Roli direct to any 5 DIN midi device... for example see my Vid.. ua-cam.com/video/8kw2W6zmPOw/v-deo.html
sorry not to reply earlier. I have a couple of others on my channel which may help or provide food for thought
I will miss queen Elizabeth
you really caught the mood - thanks Chris!

Interesting video. I'm looking for a similar solution. Is your Roli an original version or the new one?
Hi Jonathan, I have the original Roli 25 and 49.. I bought them both when the firts came out... THey work fine... I had been looking for a solution so i could just take the Roli out with no wires.. I spent alot of time when working staying in hotels.. etc.. IT started because I was fed up with the Roli software being pants and not wanting to mess about with microsoft laptops and drivers.. So i looked for a hardware synth i could use.. at the time there were no MPE synths then i got a Modor NF-1 followed, the affordable and portable products by Modal the Argon and Cobalt range which ar brilliant.. so then I wanted to get rid of as many cables as possible... I have also connected using the WIDI hub and setting up several WIDI masters with the roli connected to my SKulpt and Cobalt5s. The only issues i have found is that sometimes I have to restart the Roli and also when connected to tthe IPAD and geoshred the notes dont always shut off.... I hvae used midmtr to montor the connections,, and I think its todo with how i have the midi ports setup.. Does not happen when just using on synth.. I think it great... I also tried the Yamaha BT ble device. but this is not as reliable and it will NOT automatically connect to the Roli.. ...The WIDI just connects... Sorry for the long blurb.. But I like experimenting I have been also playing with the RETROKIT products. I think the WIDI will work well wth them as well ( I want a portable Linear MIDI recorder) come from a technical testing and IT background, Now I can sit under a tree and play etc.
@@chrismartin6690 Thanks for the reply. Can I ask why you chose the Cobalt5S as opposed to the Cobalt Desktop?
@@jonathanredman8497 I have the Cobalt8, The Argon8 with no keyboard, they are racked in my studio and conected to an Icconnectivity Midi Hub along with 10 other items,, When I first bought the Argon it was to enable me to go out and be portable with the Roli and or my Roland a49 keyboard i used when staying a way.. THen The cobalt5s came aong with its mini keyboard and small light format.. and could not resist...

Cool! Thanks for showing WIDI Master in your setup. <3
Glad you like it!
Do you use the Seaboard Rise via MIDI over Bluetooth? Mine doesn`t work with Bluetooth. Greetings Alex
Hi Alex yes, use via iPad using “Noise” . I also use a direct usb connection into an iconnectivity midi hub. Just depends on what kit I am connecting…. Bluetooth works wit Mac and iOS for iPad..not on windows pcs..
Wowwwwwwwwww that looks amazing!
Thanks,, I just like music and gadgets

Cool - I've been wondering about getting a synth for my 49 so I'm not always tied to a computer!
Hi.. I got fed up with PC and drivers and also Roli not updating the ipad app properly... Althought I have found Animoog app to be realy great... I have been looking for an MPE Synth since the 49 came out... and now.. there are several.. You should looka ta the Argon8 and Cobalt8 also from Modal they are really good and are reaonabl;y priced.. I discovered to get a good enough pc to run the Roli software without clipping etc. and issues with drivers would cost a couple of grand.... One of these synths is about £500 and will enable all the Versatility you need.. I then use the IPAD for the swam stuff .. Modal are a great bunch of people to interact with.. Thanks for watching this
COOL "TOYS"!!!! I got a Seaboard 49 "4 years ago"...... changed my WORLD!!! (It's ALL I "USE" anymore!!!!) GO Roli!!!!!!!!!!!!
with ROLI having just gone bust and the new company concentrating on the young education market I'm not sure they will support it - depends what engineers they keep on I guess.
We are still here and supporting our products: roli.com/stories/roli-reforms-as-luminary-what-you-need-to-know
@@WeAreROLI sure but there is a difference between "supporting" and creating new features though.

Totally loved that Chris. I took the same journey with my dear twin brother and a friend in early 2016 and later that same year hiked through the Abergwesyn Valley having started at the source of the River Irfon. I bet you enjoyed that. It looked wintery and wet but it was a still a joy to watch from here. If you want to watch our hike through the mountains please do. Here's the link to part 1 ua-cam.com/video/wUEy9lS-rMs/v-deo.html Part 2 is on the channel by the same name 'the wild irfon way.' Well, take care out there. WE got strange times. All the best. Mark

Yup. Cant believe how awful and how badly let down i am by our system, so i wrote this and put it out there.
Great work Chris!
Love this and how serene it is. Great work Chris; keep doing what you do
Sheesh! Even back in the 90's , Roland's MIDI implementation was a royal PIA! I see some things never change LOL!
Can you do a video on how you set this up to FL studio please. I see a bunch of wires and plugs everywhere looks complicated...
How can I get the sounds from the Roland into fl studio?
Hi Thanks for Commenting... it took me a while being a novice... but her goes i will explain. I connected the FP4 via usb to computer.. I connected the Integra to the Computer via USB. Setting the Integra to USB sound and Midi in the system settings. I connected the A49 Keyboard to the computer via USB.. You need to make sure that the relevant drivers are loaded for all the roland devices attached. I downloaded from Roland site. THen.... In FL Producer , I set up the Midi devices so that the Audio was controlled by the Integra drivers (It shows them in the Audio Section TAB) I did not use the PC microsoft mapper.. or the FL ASIO. I then checked that the Midi Tab showed that the output devices were for the Integra only. That the input ports matched the inputs from the FP4... which seeme to default to 1 when in single mode and 1 and 3 when using the registration settings. For the A49 i set it to 1, Once this is done i then from the screen where you list the instruments i removed the default kick, clap etc and replaced them with a Mid OUT - then in the config of that i set the relationship between the input and oputput ports so that i created new item for each of the 16 channels on the integra, THen depneind on which instrument o pressed the sound created was against a channel. I tried various combinations util i got the sounds. I also found i coul combine layers by patching the various channels together. I have just got home from work and will see about creating some screen shots/vid of the set up. Sorry not to reply earlier... I would also say that Using FL Producer has been a bit painful. I did also try the Interface for the integra from the roland website.. but it was crap. so disgarded it. I tried it on several computers and came to the conclusion that you need a good processor to run it... IT would not load properly on 2 different I7 pcs i have. Connecting the FP4 or the A49 to FL is easy though by themselves once you have set up the Midi ports and FL interface for Midi Out.. I could not however set the ports on the FP4 easily so stuck with the port 1 and 4 and adjusted the FL MIDI outs in stead... Also found that I need to understand the FP4 Midi set up better. I have now started using the SONAR LE as i find it is easy to change settings and can be modifed for inputs and outputs easily... Not given up on FL but could do with some tutorials from FL on how to set up MIDI from start to finish for Roland products.. That was a long reply. I will think more clearly and creat something so you can see how i have done it.. Speak again etc. You are my first ever YOutube feedback person ... thankyou :)
Love it
