    the singer used to be a great UA-cam Zeppelin singer. I think now he's just not feeling it. I mean, Jimmy is playing "live" related material and he's singing "studio" related material and it's not really mixing as well as it could.

      @Spagz 5 днів тому

      @@chebrneck I know that's how Jason found him because he mentions it. Otherwise I would not have known. I know what you mean though. Part of it may just be the amount of shows they do. They play quite often from what I understand. I think there are 2 performers in a band who have physically demanding jobs that can wear out from playing too much. Different kind of physical of course, but the singer and the drummer. Especially as we age. Plant struggled with it for sure, as young as he was. Bonzo didn't seem to, but he had superhuman energy. 🤣 The toll it took on him was mentally.

    Stumbled across this video for an unrelated reason (looking into this kick pedal for a recording technique, as having the snare and kick in-line like that, instead of offset, actually allows for a spaced pair of mic overheads to be bang-on in terms of phase). Ended up being blown away and inspired hearing how you’ve been able to play with those issues with your hand. Started developing some hand issues myself a few years ago in my left hand (I’m also right-handed). One of my biggest fears is it one day becoming too painful/too difficult to play drums anymore. Seeing this gave me a lot of hope and oh so many ideas to improve ergonomics for my kit, to keep playing for as long as possible. Thanks so much for posting this, genuinely made my day!

    • @Spagz
      @Spagz 22 дні тому

      Wow. I'm so glad you got something out of it. I wish you luck and many years of drumming! I mention my hand issue in a few videos with hope that for people with similar issues find a way to keep playing, or maybe a reason to try and start something they didn't think they could do. I started learning after my accident. 2 years ago now. And I'm terrible 🤣. But I look forward to nothing more every day. I'm annoyed when there are days I can't play. I hit plateau after plateau, but I keep going. If I get too frustrated, I go back and play some things that are easier, just to keep playing. And I realize that some of those songs were so hard a year ago. So I am still making progress. Progress over perfection, as @nickcostamusic says. The thought that I helped someone with so much more talent than me is truly a great thing to wake up to this morning. Thanks for letting me know my friend. 🙏🏻💪🏻🥁

      That's cool. I remember buying that album when it first came out. There was a lot of hype about it at the time but then it didn't do that well. I think people expected his band to be like Zeppelin? Why? He's his own person. Like Wolfgang Van Halen. He has made some great songs, but he is not his father and his music is go-to be his own. But both of them can play their fathers parts perfectly. WVH had much more time with his dad though. Thanks for commenting!

      Thanks, glad you like it. As for that snare, I wish I never sold that kit! I got a red to black right after because I wanted the 7 piece, mostly for a 16 FT. That was one of the best sounding wooden snares I ever had. No. The best. The red kit I got was basiythe same with the 8 & 16 added. The major differences were the kick and snare were 8 lugs, instead of the 10 my green kit was. Both great kits! I couldn't tell the difference on the kick from 8 to 10 lugs. The snare on the green kit was a little deeper too, I believe a 5". The red snare sucked! I mean it was "OK" really but nothing like that green one at all. Oh well. I will find one again some day. Now, I've owned several pairs, and I don't have any now. I never chose to keep any of them. Not because they were bad, I just like other ones more .. I think the i series ound great too. Back in the day When I bought my kit this exact instructional video was at the local library on VHS. This tape taught me everything I needed to know to begin jamming on the drums. I even pissed off a few "better than me" drummers by showing them tricks I learned from LB. For example using a flam and then a kick as a triplet. It's a 2 motion triplet rather than a 3 motion. Try it! And don't forget to move it around the kit! There is so much this tape was gold to me. Importance of rudiments! The library eventually switched to all DVDs and sold all the VHS tapes for 10 cents and some lucky stooge got to it before me. Thank you for the upload. I thought I would never see this again.

    i have Page above Hendrix as the greatest rock guitarist of all times. Jimmy also played acoustic guitar in a lot of his work while Hendrix did not.

      I do as well. Page was also an extremely good and popular session player, which Jimmy was not. Jimmy was a different player. But he could sing and play, and really did take things a step further with feedback and distortion. Much of that actually came because of Pete Townsend. He told him what to use and everything.

    $1000 per day for ten guys? So they’re each making $100 per day? $3000 per month? They messed up the math.

      @@loveroflife1438 thanks very much! Working on a new setup right now that is pretty cool I think, too. A little different. Trying it with just stands, no rack. Still in experimental stage lol. Trying to make it work with bigger floor toms this time (16&18).
