Love stoves ❤I’d have over a tonne of stoves in my shed lol 😂 why ? Why not I say 😂in my area in Australia theirs hundreds of unwanted stoves sitting outside rotting away !early work areas that are no longer even towns just ghost 👻 towns 😢
I heard that during ww2 they busted up thousands of cast iron stoves for shells.I would do the same my barn would be full.Too bad fishing is my addiction i have ton of gear.lol
Super kuchnia
Thank you
Where is this??
Wellfleet Ma
From a cold start up how long to reach oven baking/roasting temperature? Is it true that house holders had to keep these stoves fired 24 hours a day lest they cool too much and have to start over. Oh and what is the oven temperature? Thx!
Hi Proberly about a half hour to forty five minutes from a cold start. The dryer the wood and size will result in a faster temp.I don't know about keeping the stove going 24 hrs in the summer . In the winter the stove was going 24 hrs .They usally put them in their summer kitchen depending where they lived.

Thank you
What make and model is the stove? Can I get one in the UK?
This Stove is a Herald G made in Taunton Massachusetts USA around 1900 . I think they are illegal in the UK ...they are not airtight or efficient to meet UK standards.
Your video just saved me a huge service bill. We have had a Queen Atlantic for 10 years, purchased it totally refurbished, and absolutely love it. Cleaned it religiously every year. Started smoking at times through the burners this fall when the oven damper is closed. Thought well maybe an internal crack has developed or something, i was quite disappointed as we would be lost without this stove this winter, or had to limp it along til spring putting up with a little smoke. So fast forward to last night and some how stumbled across your video, you showed the clean out under the oven! Im quite embarrassed to say that i never knew about the clean out under the oven!! It was packed full of course, cleaned it and the Queen is brand new again! Thanks for your video!!
Im glad it helped ..Happy Thanksgiving
You as well@@notoffthegrid618
Found your video when searching wood burning kitchen stoves. I liked the baked beans and found an old pot on Ebay. Made some up last night following your video. Turned out great. Thanks for posting!

Thanks, you too!
Please don't call the trim 'Chrome', it is NICKLE plated, Not Chrome !
yes it is !!
nickle not chrome
Here's a silly question. When you cook using a pot... do you remove the plates and put the pots in the hole ?
Hi ,its not a silly question I do not take the plates off they get hot enough to boil water . I know some people do and did in the past. Some of my cooking videos on the stove show how we cook.
@@notoffthegrid618 ok thanks. It seems like some smoke would escape through the gaps if the pan didn't fit over the hole. I'll check out your other videos.
the plates are your burners~
Yes the plates over the fire box are the hottest ...coolest toward the right side but still hot.You don't have to remove a lid to cook..you can but the pots or pans will get pretty sooty... The tool is called a lid lifter.@@escapematrixenterprisejacq7810
Those pieces should be nickel, not chrome
They are nickel plated not chrome sorry

Thanks for watching.
I'm restoring a Monarch Malleable. It's black and nickle. I was going to use stove polish but decided to use high temp stove paint. I wanted polish but it's never ending, once a week to be done properly and doesn't add long term protection for the stove. My question to you, is your stove top painted like the rest of your stove or is it seasoned like a cast iron pan? Thanks for any information you can give and making the video on your stove
Hi,the stove was painted with high temp paint when it was restored. The paint over the fire box has burned off over the years.I now polish the top every week when in use.I have replaced the Herald with a newly restored Union Crawford, the Herald is now in our farm house in New York and I'm considering repainting the top.I may do a video on the Crawford.
@@notoffthegrid618 Hello thank you for the speedy reply I appreciate it. I was thinking the paint above the firebox would burn off so I haven't painted it yet. I will polish the top then, if it works for you should work for me. What type of polish do you use? I have Rutland liquid polish readily available but not the paste. I could order in paste however. I tried the liquid on my stove before I decided to paint it with no luck. It simply would adhere. It was clean, I even used acetone to make sure no oil or debris would cause a problem
Thanks for showing the flame travel, good video!
Thanks ,I have replaced my Herald with a newly refurbished Union Crawford. The Crawford flame travels different than the Herald. I may do a video on it in the future.
Great video!
Thanks for watching.
YOUR BAKE BEANS LOOK GREAT AND THE OLD HOT DOGS ARE A OLD STAND BY I HOPE YOU AND THE MISSES HAVE A GREAT THANKSGIVING I,LL BE BAKING THE TURKEY AND OYSTER DRESSING AND HOT ROLLS IN MY WOOD COOK STOVE I MIGHT TRY YOUR BEANS IVAN FROM ILLINOIS.
Hi sorry I was out of state for a couple of months .I moved my Herald to our farm house. I replaced it with a newly refurbished Union Crawford. I have not fired it yet but will be in a few days.I hope you had a great Thanksgiving and Merry Christmas.
Great video! We just inherited a Glenwood K and still learning. How do you get the oven going ?
Hi, sorry I was out of state for a couple of months no internet. My stove has a lever in the front that you can close when you want to use the oven. You should look some where on your Glenwood that has some lever that does that.Let me know if you find it.
Terrible video. One of the worst of fishing
Helâl olsun sana biraderim.
thank you
What brand of stove is that? It is so pretty. Id love to have one
Hi ,Thank you..This stove is a Herald C and was made by OG Thomas In Tauton Mass in the early 1900's
Beautiful void stove
Thank you very much!
I'm drooling! That's a meal!
Thanks it was.
Hello again! What time's dinner! 🤣 Question, what is that long handle coming from the back left corner of stove top used for? It looks almost 2' long.
Hi its a towel or glove dryer etc.You just hang whatever you need to dry.
@@notoffthegrid618 Oh! That makes sense! Thank you. I've got 4 different old cast iron cook stoves and trying to learn as much as I possibly can. Your videos are alot of help, thank you!
I watched your other video on how your stove works also. Those beans made me hungry! I now have 4 different antique cast iron cookstoves and I'll be using 1 right away, putting the pot belly in my shop and restoring the other 2. There's something about these that makes me want to keep buying them and getting them going again. With all the tiny house and off grid living becoming more popular, these stoves are absolutely perfect. I love your videos, thank you for all your time sharing. You have a beatiful stove and a beautiful home!
Thanks we are having another cookstove restored as we speak.I'm going to move my Herald to our farm in upstate N Y.We are having a gas sidecar restored for the Herald so we can have three different fuels at the Farm.I will be putting up a video on our restoration of the Union Crawford.
@@notoffthegrid618 Oh that's great, I cant wait to see it! Thank you for sharing! I have a full size Home Comfort from 1900 and a Monarch from the 20s. And I just got a Ideal St.Clair made by Bellville Stove works that's a smaller cook stove and it beatiful condition that I just love! As well as a good ol' pot belly of course! I'm enjoying just restoring the 2 full sized ones. Any advice on what type of paste/polish to use that won't smell or leave black on anything that touches it after its done?
I have my mother‘s old being pot. I don’t know how old it is. It has two jug handles on it where yours just has one. I think yours is older as well. I’ve just bought a wood cookstove and beans Are on the horizon. Glad to have found your video.
Thank you ...I hope you enjoy her old pot ..I think just using your mother's pot gives it a special meaning..
Wholesome, Family Friendly, Educational and entertaining! Can’t wait to see more from you guys!!!
Thank you!! 😁
Great recipe.. delicious. And what a fun way to cook on such an antique stove. You both are great. Thank you very much ! Kind regards from the Netherlands.
Thank you very much!
What a delicious dish! Thank you so much for sharing this with us so we can enjoy it too!
My pleasure 😊
Great explanation ! Thank you very much and kind regards from the Netherlands.
Glad it was helpful!
How long do you drag it?
About an hour alive then we bleed it and drag it for a couple of miles
What is that long handled rod 0:51, for that was on the left of the stove?
The rod is for drying towels etc...
Brightest wood cook stove owner I've, seen. You actually show how to clean it!!! Nobody ever thinks of the inherent smoke and (unwanted) fire damage that can occur when, YOU DON"T BOTHER TO CLEAN THE STOVE. Amazing. Simply Amazing. Thank you for espousing a little common sense. I'll definitely be checking out a few of your other videos.
Thanks its not really that difficult to clean..now the chimney pipe is a different story had soot blow out my shop vac into the Kitchen wasn't, fun lol
Beautiful stove! Thanks for sharing!
Thank You
I love these old stoves. The black and nickel go so well together.
Thanks for watching
