      laser academy has a laser params converter software , to convert from 30w to 100w or to most any wattage laser , but you really need the lens size from the setting you get for your laser.

    Awesome dude !! Ps. The edit material settings controls the speed and line interval etc (pretty much everything else except the 2 controls that you picked for the material test). Changing these settings around will also affect your overall material test results. The next one over - Edit text settings that’s where you set your label markings.

    This was very helpful. I do have two questions: 1. I was using black craft paper, and the red frame showed, but the laser did nothing at all. It worked on aluminum. It worked on the back of a shiny, black box, but not craft paper. What features should the card have other than smooth? 2. I pushed the autofocus button, and it went up and down, but the dots never converged. How do I know it worked correctly?

    • @buildmakeshare
      @buildmakeshare 8 місяців тому

      Went with the GA simply cause of the auto focus. It wasnt a whole lot more and being able to think less about measuring properly every time and just hitting the button routinely was the selling point. We do batch work on the fibers in the shop so this helps me out at late hours... lol

      @@buildmakeshare I am also new to this so I see in other videos in order to get "colors" on stainless steel you have to "defocus" about 3mm. So, in that case would the auto focus matter on situations where trying to color mark on stainless steel. I am wondering on this as I intent do "color" mark and keep seeing where you have to defocus is to get the best colors. Thoughts?

    • @buildmakeshare
      @buildmakeshare 8 місяців тому

      for the MOPA we have, we havent really had to defocus, just drop the Q-pulse and do a material test on speed, its been pretty consistent. I'll personally prioritize a video for ya. Deal?

    I noticed he didn't show plugging in the usb. The usb port is over an inch inside the case and you have to hold the cord and fish it in to the port. There 's also no plug in the back for an actual foot pedal. The hole is there and is covered by a safety sticker. The button on the front that has the foot pedal sticker by it is so small it's hard to press. The packaging was the best part of the whole experience. I just wish their customer service was the same. They need to remove the 24/7 customer service website.

    • @buildmakeshare
      @buildmakeshare 9 місяців тому

      This is a fair point. The support they have outside the standard overseas nightime hours seem to be more focused on facebook groups and dedicated reps assigned on there. Its been easy enough to get questions asked but the USB inside is kinda silly, I assume its to protect the connector from any metal particle buildup. I personally like the button on the front but I could see the option for the actual foot pedal also being useful.

      @diyeverything7416 9 місяців тому

      @@buildmakeshare I'm not saying the button is a bad idea but it's flush and very small. At least offer the plug on the back for the foot pedal. I reached out to them with questions about my GA 100 and they said they didn't know of a GA 100. There's nothing on the website or anywhere else about the auto focus or how to set it for different lens. I was able to get a video from another manufacturer that showed how to set it. After doing some research on the company I found that the Washington address is nothing more than a condominium. I have called all 6 phone numbers that they list for support and all of them go to voicemail and all of the voicemails are full. If it weren't for youtube I would have had no clue as to what files to load from the provided flash drive. I get that it's a compact model but with the provided lens there is no way to use a rotary without turning the laser to the side of the machine. I found someone that states that they actually manufacturers it and they are sending me an extension for the tower so I'm able to raise the laser head higher. It's such a shame because this machine has so many good features but no support what so ever.

      @@KevinOz528 The issue I had was with a smaller lens it wouldn't let the laser head lower enough. It wouldn't work on smaller items anyway so I put tape over it. Consider yourself one of the lucky ones. My first fiber laser from Monport arrived upside down with the crate busted open. The second arrived after they crushed the crate and put it in a flimsy box with parts missing and the unit damaged. Glad you had a good experience though.

      @buildmakeshare 9 місяців тому

      Damn that sucks! I've heard bad stories when they first started, but it seems like their logistics have been a bit streamlined. I have 3 lasers total, and they all arrived flawless. Except the "over engineered" crate the 100w came in lol. That thing was heavy and a nightmare to unbox, but maybe it needed that for shipping and international handling. What laser(s) do ya have?
