    Great job your bug is looking better than when it was new .depending on the model and extras ordered when new not all Beetles came with reversing lights.but all the later ones did as it might of became law , my 73 deluxe had them, i would of thought that a gt would of had them as standard as being one of the top edition model, strange if it didn't. check the gear box to see if it has a reverse switch on it or an aperture to screw a reverse switch in ,wire up to both rear lights. watch you dont mix two many colours on the interior as it can be over kill as the dash has a black rubber safety cover, Are you going to fit the rubber stripes that go along the length of the bumper and chrome beading to go in the window rubbers ? as they make a difference ,if that was mine it would be my daily driver better than newer car, well done fella you should be proud of what you have achieved. 👌

    • @GT.Bugger
      @GT.Bugger 4 місяці тому

      Thank you for watching and following along. They never came with reverse lights. I know this because the light cluster, originally, never had a clear section for reverse lights. Also, the gearbox does not have a switch for reverse in it. I have ordered a full kit to fit this. I have already fitted the rubber strip to the front bumper with overriders. Not sure I'm doing the same to the rear. As for the chrome stripes in the window seals...it may happen at some point, I just know they're awful to fit. Thanks again for the comments and watching.

    Your seats should slide all the way back and almost touch your rear seat. When you put the passenger one in, put it in from the rear of the floor runners and push the tab down on the pyramid for the centre runner, and the seat should then slide in past the tab and you cannot move it back out without pushing that tab on the pyramid back down again. That should be the point at which your seat is all the way back, compare it with the other seat then.

    • @GT.Bugger
      @GT.Bugger 7 місяців тому

      Ok, so there's definitely something a miss then as that's as far back as it seems to let me go. I will have to check the holes on the seat runner and make sure it's in the first one as that would mean it's fully in its back position. I know there should be some reclining on it also. Thanks for the advice.

    I think for a first time attempt that's very very good. And of course, you cant get good at something unless you have a go. I suspect that the material is not that easy to work with compared to the original stretchy white vinyl, which is probably why VW used it on late models. But the colour you've chosen works nicely with the GT interior, so nice one. I'm looking forward to the complete interior with carpets and seats. It should look excellent.

    I have exactly the same model and colour NTU843L. It's used daily. I'm based on the Kent Coast.

      That's cool. It's great to hear you use yours daily. I'm not too sure I'll be doing that, though. Thank you for watching and dropping a comment.

    Those Mexican seals are a lot better then the oem stuff. I got the same seals on my 76 bug.

      Good to know. They obviously reduce the risk of rot over the original channel. So there were multiple reasons for me to go this route.

      @@GT.Bugger Its the best seals to use. More folks should be using them, to avoid rust issues down the road, even on show cars.
