Thanks! We had pace on par with the top drivers this day, but 3 cones over 4 runs put us in 10th overall out of 62 drivers, so you're assessment seems correct. They add up times from 4 runs in this event, so the hero runs are not rewarded in this setting but doesnt stop us from having fun!

I have an Srunner rear bar laying around I may try installing.. but I do like the way the rear is rotating at the moment!!

San Pedro in Southern California.. they do call it the "Monaco of Autocross" as it is quite nice out there!

Your wife must really be gifted.. I was only able to muster up a 1st place in my class and the 6 fastest time of 40 drivers at the last event! Currently I am in second place for the season amongst 9 other drivers, so I suppose everything is relative..

Thanks, My front tires were so bald I reversed rotated them not knowing it was going to rain for this event. In the wet I found there was almost no grip for braking or corner exits. So times were slow this day but I had a bunch of fun and it was great experience.. oh yeah, and no cones either!

I too love the sounds of this machine.. I often find myself revving the engine just to hear those glorious tones while I am awaiting my runs. Get's me "in the zone" you could say!

Indeed I have done track days, heck there are even a couple of videos up on this channel from those events if thats your thing!! I like driving my car fast, whatever you want to call it... enjoy what you love, dont waste your time with things you dont!

Well, there is a 93 decibel limit rule in place at least.. there's not many lots where we can still do this kind of thing unfortunately. I run stock exhaust to ease their pain!

So a Tesla that smoked everyone at the national level looked faster?! This sounds about right! The only Tesla's that beat this C7 so far are usually faster than just about everyone out there, but they still need a driver at this level. Get one and go for it!

You are right on. Hence the "course walk" is critical so you can visualize driving the course before your actual runs. Once you can memorize the course and your lines, you can then work on skills and add speed.

@@yuGtahTThere are no times shown, no baseline of what is or isn’t a good time. “Sends it” is subjective without those items. The hummer wouldn’t do too well. ;)

@@335i101 It was a practice day so timing was not recorded, but from what I saw I had some of the fastest times in my class and not far from top times of the day. Of course "sends it" is indeed subjective but I would say I sent it! Sorry this gave you the meh back there, that Hummer must be quicker on its feet that it looks!!

Yep, the "pointer" cones almost form visual arrows pointing to the side the car should be on to be on course. Going into a slalom there is usually a pointer for the start then no pointer cones, so you can thread the slalom as tight as possible knowing your going side to side around the "slalom" cones. I find it very helpful to look ahead towards the pointer cones as I enter and exit the turns to help find my lines and (hopefully) better times! If you enjoy driving your vehicle in a spirited manner, I would say you need to try autocross!

You can go very fast in a GM sports car in second gear. Been like that for awhile now. For a tight track like this it is all you need.

2nd gear is typical for most autocrossing indeed! As truth stated the courses are so tight that you dont have time to build speed, shift gears, then downshift for the curves since they come so quickly and your speeds are more constant so you simply dont need as much shifting. Even my 4 cylinder Tacoma would not build speed quickly enough to warrant a shift on most courses, and the Corvette will hit roughly 70 mph in 2nd gear!!

Thanks a bunch! Just some basic mods for old Trudy that made a big difference: 4" drop, wheels and tires, and a limited slip differential from a Mk2 Supra. Engine is stock 2.4 with a cai and muffler.
