How I PRE-FLIGHT my CIRRUS SR22T - in-hangar prep to pre-start all the steps I go through in order
#cirrus #cirrusaircraft #cirrussr22 #cirrussr20 #aviationenthusiasts #generalaviation
* Not Instructional - entertainment only
Learning to fly ? New to plane ownership ? Just curious how planes are prepared for flight ?
I am a Commercial Pilot with an Instrument Rating and over 300 hours in the Cirrus SR22T. Through those flight hours and experiences I've developed a pre-flight process that works for me. Maybe this will help you ?
In my experience pre-flighting a plane is absolutely critical. I've taken the Cirrus POH pre-flight checklist and expanded in quite a bit to suite my needs. This way when I turn on the plane I'm pretty sure that anything I could have eliminated on the ground has been taken care of.
Here are the chapters in the video:
:00 - :25 - Overview - In-Hangar Work
:26 - 1:05 - Tire Inflation
1:06 - 1:38 - Icing Fluid (TKS), How much it weighs
1:39 - 2:05 - Oil, Why I'm sometimes lower after an oil change
2:13 - Exterior Pre-Flight , Outside Work begins
2:19 - Sources of information on pre-flighting for this plane
2:35 - Bat 2 activation
2:52 - 3:35 Checking the Lights - I do this even in VFR flying conditions
3:52 - 6:23 - Second walk-around to check exterior condition of plane
6:24 - 7:30 - Sumping fuel, checking tanks and fuel levels *NOTE - a correction here that water sinks below not floats on top as I stated
7:30 - 8:11 - Manual dipstick method
8:12 - 8:37 - Final inspection prior to starting-up plane
What I find that with some practice this entire process can take 10-15 minutes. When I do this listening to ATIS I find time to note the details in my ForeFlight screen and I'm ahead of the game when ready-to-taxi !

Database Update process, Cirrus SR22 w/Garmin Perspective+ electronics - entire update process
Переглядів 3432 місяці тому
#cirrus #cirrussr22 #generalaviation #flight The database update process for general aviation electronics can be difficult. It's because none of the vendors care about each others' systems. So you have Garmin in the Cirrus but the Perspective variety. Then you have the FAA approach plates and Jeppesen plates if you like those charts. All-in there are 8 databases and of course they don't update ...
What's needed to take care of your Cirrus ? What's in my hangar to make sure the plane is ready
Переглядів 3612 місяці тому
#cirrus #cirrusr20 #cirrussr22 #generalaviation Taking care of a high-performance General Aviation aircraft is not for the faint of heart. But there is a lot owners can do to handle routine maintenance and proper care to ensure the plane is always ready. My take is to check the plane after each flight (as well as before) and have what you need on-hand to ensure that as much up-time as possible....

Cessna Caravan Training FlightSafety Int'l, simulators, classroom, flying the Caravan simulator

Full details of a 9-day 'type' rating training and exams at FlightSafety International in Wichita, Kansas. Truly a world-class organization and facility. This was 'initial' training as opposed to 'recurrent' training. This training is required either by law or by the insurance carrier or both. Training consists of 3-4 classroom days and a final exam (ground training). Then 8-10 hours in the D-C...

You do not need a type rating to fly a Cessna 208!

You are correct technically. but try to get insurance on a new Caravan without passing the training from FlightSafety or the equivalent

@@caravan1life I do a full post-flight after each flight when I put it away. I also store it full of fuel to (mostly) prevent condensation. I have the whole plane coated with ceramic coating, so I just use a lint-free cloth with distilled water to wipe it down after each flight. I do it then instead of before to avoid grinding dust into the finish or lexan. I check the height of the wheel-pants above the ground before each flight and do a pressure check every few flights. The rest I do pretty much by the book, very similar to your walk aroud. My current plane is a 2022, and I had the trickle charger update installed during my last annual, I leave that connected in the hangar which is nice when you don't fly it for a while. I have a 2025 G7 on order in the exact same color scheme too.

@@Noircogi woa. Thats a nice process - think I'll adopt some of that. I've been looking for a an easier way to check the tires. This is also a 2022. It would be cool if more owners chimed in to see if there are any tidbits that I can learn from - thanks for the comments

So you forgot the import stuff. You will need a spare #1 alternator and coupling. A spare nose and main tire and O rings for the wheels. They are different sizes. Spare brake pads and caliper O rings. I would also keep a spare #2 alternator bracket. These are common failure parts. And most maintenance shops wont have those specif parts unless they are a Cirrus service center. Just fyi..

    • @caravan1life
      @caravan1life 2 місяці тому

Yah really good points - In the annual a few months back we replaced the brushes on Alt 1 and 2 and did the brakes. The spare tires are in the video and have them in the hangar. Some of the more specific Cirrus parts I'd probably just bring it over to the service center as there are 2 near me and a limited center on my field. Good points !

great looking plane! some questions for you.... What factors made you chose the Caravan? Did you look at other similar planes like the kodiak? I am just curious. Also, I am going to Knoxville in 2 weeks to pick up my brand new 22T. Safe flights and keep making more videos please.

New SR22 - nice ! I was flying '15 SR22GTS until this plane. Have 15 hours in the plane and like it. I did look at the Kodiak 100 (900 was not out at the time). I am primarily looking for payload for the family - the Carvan and Kodiak don't care how much payload there is (up-to 8,500 lbs TOW). I really liked the Kodiak but not the sales people so much and the pricing was out of whack from the rest of the market...

@@caravan1life Very cool explanation. I am thinking in 2-3 years that i would like a plane with more payload as well to take the whole family on trips. The 22T will be great for now and who really knows what my mission will be but the kodiak and Caravan are right in the mix. Please keep making videos of your flying adventures.
