Well I think when he was telling the story, he slammed the shoe down more out of frustration than arrogance. That was (correct me if I’m wrong) before the officers got there. And yes arrogance and not being prideful but I think it was more so leaning towards frustration and anger (which a very valid in those moments) because that’s a human emotion and no one is requiring white people to contain and hide their emotions, like the white woman who was going in. The ability to feel and express emotion safely was a part of her white privilege and Curtis wasn’t able to do that because of the system in place. I know you’re not blaming him and I know it may just be a feeling to want to control the situation but in that situation I think it’s very valid. I just think that my feelings are all I control and not someone else response to them. But I love Krystal’s explanation because if we’re always just reacting to our environment and people, we’re not living our most authentic lives and just reactionary. So I find validity in both.

Wow you know I never thought about that and what a beautiful analysis you’ve given Krystal. It is realistic honestly to see them get away (similar to Assata in Cuba) and just like the Underground Railroad, I dont think that reality is taught🤷🏾‍♀️like just like 2 Black people having a podcast and successful businesses that flourish that wasn’t something like I saw or knew, but it is a reality and I would’ve loved to see that. It’s like we saw Wakanda on screen and that has splashes go realism in it but it’s not real, but there have been instances of freedom that Black people have CREATED (not given but definitely created) that I think should be televised more because without that balance it feels like it creates that hopelessness like Curtis was saying of like “oh they have to die.” But they don’t have to. It’s the norm and it’s A reality, but it’s not the only one we as Black people have lived.
