    At the time it was just a fun game with a power fantasy to be a cool super cop hero. That's it. There wasn't much political drama or social justice woes. It was a time where games were just to have fun...not make a panic or cause a ruckus.

    Is this what happens when we let r/politics nerds play video games? Lets find out, will edit when done. Edit 1: how are you gonna talk about how offensive this and that is then give the illegal immigration volk dude a 0 because he doesn't kill enough illegals as though muling normal people across the border isn't something gangs do without making it a blood sport? Holy shit dude, talk about problematic. Also calling the two female generals "hot ladies" while talking about offensive their representation is or isn't gives massive nice guy syndrome vibes...and then you go on to talk about how tight the viewers mom is on top of it? Whatever you're on you gotta pass that shit cuz i am way too sober for this 😂😂😂 Edit 2: I almost liked the last 20 minutes till you started on "this was a genuine attempt to show how evil white people can be in other countries" because that's probably one of the slowest things I've ever heard. You aren't the white savior, please stop acting like it while being cringe as hell. Heaven help you if ghost recon wildlands comes your way. 3/10 and only because I was genuinely excited to hear anyone play a game I played in my childhood 100 percent. Also no I will not stop divorcing art from artist just because a dude who literally says "slay queen" when a woman fornicates with and murders men for material gain tells me to...Otherwise how would I play modern games of any stripe when most of them have terrible business practices of one shade or another.

    Alright I’m 16 mins in is this bait or is there a deeper message at the end about media literacy and waiting to get the whole picture before commenting cause so far I’m baffled at how your missing the entire point that YOU ARE THE BAD GUY OF THIS GAME First edit: wish you spent less time talking about game mechanics I feel like everyone watching has either played this before and knows or did not click to find out if the game is fun to play Final edit: made it to the end and it was worth watching till the end I agree with many points made about the general message trying to be made but falls short on several key points I’ve always viewed a lot of the stereotypes and “problematic” themes as the view point of your player character who has being indoctrinated into this fascist organization even if that was not the devs intention when making the game originally, crackdown 2 even takes it a step further and has audio logs essentially trying to tell the player character the entire time that they are working for the real bad guys and at the end when you have already done the dirty work the point there guns at you because you are the only threat left to them and I think that’s really the final mail the devs wanted to put into the story but dev time and restrictions probably forced them to cut that from this one and include it into the second game

      @@therealmcx3488I thought it might at the last 20 minutes but...no, This dudes just a redditor with a white savior complex who simultaneously tells us how offensively woman are being portrayed in a game from 2007 while also calling the viewers mom "tight" I don't think its bait, I think the dude needs to talk to a real life woman and stop projecting his own insecurities on the world itself.

  • @FoxyUkeFox
    @FoxyUkeFox 19 днів тому

    Even as a young teen European, I always thought the Los Muertos were like a parody of a Latin American gang. After the "shock twist" ending, I expected a reveal that this - and all the other comic book stereotypes that make up the game's villains - was intentional because they were literally manufactured by The Agency not to be realistic, but to play the role of scary foreigners that are easy to hate. Sadly the game doesn't lean into this. Sure, the Handler makes a few suspicious comments - but it'd be cool for there to be real cracks in his unreliable narration. Obviously you can only pull the twist once, but Crackdown had potential to take itself seriously in the sequels. It's a shame about 3.

    You should watch Made in Abyss, Bondrewd is a great passive villain, to the point where the heros are striving tooth and nail to put an end to him, to kill him permanently, and yet even after their direct confrontation, SPOILERS They don't even manage to inconvenience him. They don't even slow him down. It cost them dearly, and yet on his end they barely register as existing. Nanachi is only mildly interesting due to the fact that they know each other, and Reg is an anomaly to be torn apart to be reverse engineered. In the end, for the Heroes it was a life or death struggle against a near immortal mad man. For Bondrewd, it was an uneventful Tuesday, save the fact that his slated plan to sacrifice his adopted daughter went off without a hitch. It's such a great scene when the main cast thinks they've finally killed him, finally stopped his regeneration cycle, only for a new Bondrewd to walk out clapping at the success of the experiment killing Prushka in order to augment himself like Nanachi was. In the end, it was all they could do to escape, but Bondrewd just lets them. He genuinely doesn't care about the meddling of a bunch of children, they are so far beneath him that they actually don't matter.

    Also, while i feel the Amber situation was akways underbaked... i have to agree that their breakup was incredibly human. When she said i can't live in your world it hit like a sock filled with coins. I couldn't sum up the evident problems in supie/normie relationships better myself. You have to be cut from a veey fine cloth, and even then it results in a lifetime of loneliness. Cite my source, debbie.

    "Is there something in the water today?" Was such a cold line by Cecil, especially given the choice Donald had made. Not intentionally cold, but extremely in character. That's what makes the writing in this show so dang good. It's foreshadowing at it's finest, a short statement you truly feel upon the second watch.

    He reminds me of one of my favorite villains in recent history, which would be Lord Viren from the Dragon Prince. He is the ultimate example of a "human" villain. He is cruel, cunning, and vindictive. But he isn't one dimensional, it is easy to understand his motivations, and even empathize with him on some level. Imagine if Jafar was a proud father of two, who had a good relationship with the Sultan, and the best interests of the people at heart, but still had all of his darker desires, and tendencies mixed in with it. That is Lord Viren.

    Something else about the end, where the Brigade finally breaks through the pyramid (36:30) - it's timed perfectly with Dan singing the words "dark side", and the visual given is of a rainbow streaming out of a prism. To me, it immediately called the album art of Pink Floyd's Dark Side of the Moon to mind, which was _also_ explicitly written about the mental health struggles the band faced as artists. It's a really cool shout out on a surface level, and hits even harder knowing the background behind it.
