Varnishing Mahogany Coamings - The Dilettante Ep 5
The varnish used is Epifanes clear Varnish. 5 layers were applied to the coamings, and 4 on the superstructure. More will be added during the season.

Looks great. I'm half way through my 44 foot hoffar built in 1925. Done many planks on the hull. Almost all the ribs. Refastened the entire hull with 316 ss.... time for decks and bulwarks. That's how I found this video. Keep up the good work there.
I think I'll do it myself this week. I just got instructions from Stodoys and I'm ready for it: D

Which glue did you use? The black stuff? Is is it polyurethane based or bituminous?
It looks like M# 4300 or 5200 I would hope that it was not that as that could be expensive, but talking to a few other people about this, they say M3 5200 is what is used to fill the black in between.
@@michaelmoore4650 sika flex deck caulking is nice to sand after. Doesn't ball up or tear
