It's not like the boys didn't care but they're not those kind of boys that talk about there feelings, and ted is a horrible father. All mike needed was someone to comfort him and tell him it's ok

I like the double meaning behind the "you're okay, kid". He clearly liked his guts for standing up to a man many times his size over Eleven.

Not even a whole minute long, and rewatching this scene made me well up.

As I can see both sides to this argument, Hopper risked everything to protect Eleven, Mike, and the rest of the gang. Having been through hell, the one person who took Eleven in and looked after her was Mike; the only one who she calls on whenever she's hurt or scared. Hopper wholeheartedly understood how Mike felt, yet keeping everyone safe with danger not far behind was the priority. What's incredibly heartbreaking about this scene is Hopper 's ability to calm Mike in a way that his own father never did. Kudos to the Duffer Bros for incorporating this into the script. 🙌🏾
