❓Firestopping for Small-Diameter Metal and Plastic Pipes: Necessary? Thank you David!
Brilliant Hassan does really have a clear compass on his development with in other industries
I really do need to speak to one of your team for guidance with in the industry
That was brilliant gents Thank you I was glued to your conversation My role with in my company has changed and I am getting more and more involved with the fire stopping side of the company I have so much more to learn and tbh don’t feel confident speaking about what we are installing Could I contact either of you guys directly Many thanks

It would be great if the services would be like this on the actual site as well but what you find in there sometimes is terryfing.
Yet another excellent presentation with loads of great information!
Thanks Hassan!
UKPN doesn't accept this detail due too it hasn't got any structural element' if services fall the fire batt would fail.
Service supports should be 100 - 400mm of firewalls, 400mm or less means that they can install it tight to wall and when you have to istall face fit batt service support is in the way.
Very informative as usual
Thank you for your feedback!
you have examples how do this?
Another great episode!
Thank you!
Uk is so backwards to compare to Europe.
Great stuff! All of the metal pipes need to be wrapped with insulation? Why not for those metal cables on cable tray 8:20?
Well done Quelfire! Genuinely appreciate your efforts to educate and that you are taking such a practical and full scope look at passive fire protection, not just promoting your products. I can see where the Glenfell tragedy has driven much discussion of competency and Dame Judith Hackitt's statement of "Competency can no longer be assumed", but it is great that you are pushing that truth to your field and customers. I especially appreciate the comments about Engineering Judgments and Mandy's comments about NOT certifying "solutions" that have not been tested or that have no test data to support them.
Thank you for your feedback Wayne - we definitely believe in transparency and education in the industry, especially post-Grenfell.
great company)
Can't fault your company for testing all sorts of details, my issue is why is the fire batt so brittle?
Great presentation. But I don't think it was a sleeved gas pipe.
Its not a fierstopping, its decorative hp mastic applying, because mastic should be in all depth of fierbatt😢
Hello, thanks for your comment. QuelStop HPE Sealant should be installed as per our fire test evidence and for this application it is a 25mm depth, as shown on detail QB-FW100-D-02.
@@FirestoppingSolutionswhat for hp onto armoured cables ?
Very informative thank you. I am still not clear if hospitals and residential care homes over 7-floor or 18-metres only, will in the future fall into the higher risk category. Or, if the intention is for all hospitals and care homes to be considered higher risk?
If you go to this Gov.uk page it provides the current criteria: www.gov.uk/guidance/criteria-for-determining-whether-a-new-building-that-is-being-designed-and-constructed-is-a-higher-risk-building#:~:text=For%20the%20design%20and%20construction%20part%20of%20the%20regime%2C%20higher,have%20at%20least%207%20storeys. You will see this paragraph: For the design and construction part of the regime, higher-risk buildings are defined as buildings with at least two residential units, care homes, and hospitals which are at least 18 metres in height or have at least 7 storeys.
Hello, how you testing your details?)you have video?)
Hello. Thanks for your comment and question. We do have a video coming soon, so keep a look out!
Hi Glenn. Great presentation, thanks. Question regarding the one sided batt application, us it tested from both sides or just the application side? Thanks.
Hello Hassan, thank you for your feedback and question. Our single-side access details are always tested from both sides to replicate a worst-case scenario. If you would like more information on these details and the testing, please contact technical@quelfire.co.uk.
Great video again Glenn. Thanks for the information. Garrett

Doesn’t hp corrode cvpc?
Hello Liam, thanks for your question. Certain products can be non-chemically compatible with CPVC pipes. Only approved HPE sealants such as the QuelStop HPE Sealant, which has been approved by both Lubrizol and Spears for use on their CPVC systems, can be used. For more information, read this knowledge hub piece: quelfire.co.uk/knowledge-advice/considerations-when-firestopping-cpvc-pipes/ or contact us at technical@quelfire.co.uk.
That one is new to me
Is it true that before applying HPE on it, we have to use reflective tape on the pipe?
Hello, thanks for your question. In some cases, reflective tape is required when the sealant is not approved. However, this is not the case for our QuelStop HPE Sealant as it has been approved by the two main manufacturers of CPVC pipes. Read our short article for more information: quelfire.co.uk/knowledge-advice/considerations-when-firestopping-cpvc-pipes/ If you do have any more questions, please don't hesitate to email us at technical@quelfire.co.uk.

what EI rating do you achieve on the trunking?
Hello Thomas, thank you for your comment. We have a number of trunking details - some standard details and also some future details. Please contact our technical team regarding your application at technical@quelfire.co.uk
Hello Alec, excellent video and fantastic range of products. Can you tell me if there are any tests conducted on plastic concertina pipes, the type normally witnessed from the back of a tumble drier or bathroom/kitchen extraction fan system; would a fire collar be suitable - pipe diameter is approx 110mm.
Thanks for your feedback. We don't know of any tests carried out on the material you describe. Because the material is so thin and combustible, it is likely that it would burn quicker than the intumescent can react resulting in an integrity failure. It is always worth checking whether these ducts are actually penetrating a fire compartment wall initially. For more technical questions please send in specific details to our technical team using technical@quelfire.co.uk
👍
Hi Alec, this is a fantastic range, well done. Could you please give me a bit more detail about the gas pipe passing through a sleeve. it looks like QB-FW100-D-12. I have seen similar, with copper pipes passing through another copper sleeve. i never got an answer as to the reason for the sleeve and need for the gap between 2x pipes. also, is there no need for a HPE or wrap? as the yellow gas pipe would surely not be sealed off by acrylic seal alone? many thanks
Hello, thank you for your comment. We believe the "reason" for sleeve is due to a gas regulation or could also be due to concerns about movement and potential chaffing of the pipe on the substrate. From our perspective, we test fire stop solutions for scenarios that arise in real life and this is how the pipes can be installed. See also: quelfire.co.uk/knowledge-advice/does-tracpipe-need-to-be-sleeved/. On detail QB-FW100-D-12 quelfire.co.uk/wp-content/uploads/QB-FW100-D-12-Trac-Pipe-penetrating-a-flexible-or-rigid-wall-HPE.pdf you will note that a 20mm annulus of QuelStop HPE Sealant is required around the sleeve. The QuelStop Intumescent Acrylic Sealant is used to seal the gap between the sleeve and the pipe on one side of the wall only in this case. If you have any further technical questions please send a detailed question to technical@quelfire.co.uk where one of the team will be glad to support further. Thank you.
Great video Alec, thank you
