Taken from the Broadway version released on DVD in 2000 and BluRay in 2013, directed by Gale Edwards. My favorite one.

Mostly Autumn official video for song The Gap Is Too Wide taken from DVD "The Next Chapter" released in 2003.
Best version ever ❤
Очень красивый тембр
I don't think having Judas singing the song directly to Jesus works. The interpretation in the '70s movie was much better. Jerome Pradon is not as good as Carl Anderson- but he gave it 110%, and I really respect him for that. I really don't like how Jesus comes across in this scene- the way he shows no emotion, and keeps pushing Judas away. Not how I imagine Jesus at all.
23 years of loving this man ❤
Quelle beauté ce morceaux qui vous prends au trips
❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤
This is how you make a musical into a movie! The camera work from 2:16 to to 3:18 is stunning (one whole cut!). It would be nothing without the great acting/ blocking, and the guitar orchestration at 3:04!
Honestly the very best acting performance in any version of the show. He takes us on a journey with this character. Not the strongest voice to play the role, but this is a clear case of I’d rather have an actor who sings well than a singer who barely acts
We were planning on seeing this before 2020. Is if playing again?
So homoerotic.
this is the BEST HECKING VERSION
One of those songs that gets me.....every time....can't keep it dry.
You are not the only one...the same for me.
The best Judas EVER
Very enjoyable music. I've been buying up all I can by them the last month or so. Love all their music. :)
I love the design and visuals in this production... set, costumes, lighting... the look and aesthetic of the show is captivating, if a little confusing. But so was the '73 movie, which is a classic in its own right. This one is so radically different in style and presentation, it is initially a little shocking and surreal if you're really used to the '73 movie (or if you're still expecting a more cinematic approach. This is definitely theatre, hence complaints about "stagey-ness" almost comically miss the point.). Even the vocal style is different, slightly less rock and considerably more like traditional musical theatre. But still clearly with a foot in both worlds. Jerome Pradon got divided reviews for his take on Judas, but I suspect that means he did something right. Namely, he committed to a full-throated (in more ways than one) interpretation of the character. His vocal range may not have been ideally suited to the part, but one gets the sense he knew his limitations and even turned them to his advantage. So the occasional roughness of the vocals is actually totally in line with the "rock" ethos of emotion over polish. It's a tough balancing act, and the fact that Pradon emerges as one of the most dynamic performers in this production says something about his craft and talent.
I love his take on this role!
Jerome Pradon's interpretation can't hold a candle to Murray Head (original album) or Carl Anderson, who's even better as Judas in the 1973 movie version. Gale Edwards' Jesus is good to look at but he doesn't have the rock singer chops of Ian Gillan or Ted Neeley. This whole affair ist unfortunately pretty bland. I'm still looking for a more modern version which can compete with the 1973 movie, which many think to be a bit dated. But it's musical interpretation and the acting is perfect and captured beautifully the vibe of the 1960s and 1970s, which is the area when the musical was composed by Andrew Lloyd Webber and written by Tim Rice.
Try the 2012 arena tour version! It's fab!
Is it Warrel Dane twin?☺
лучшие среди всех составов
Jesus wears cargo pants
I’ve never understood why they casted him as Judas considering Judas is tenor and he’s a baritone.
@El Oso -xXx- It's a good question man. Jerome Pradons vocal range is considerably lower than what is needed and it shows.
Judas is a complicated man... :)
Well Josh Young is also a baritone (Judas from Broadway 2012) and he did a great job with this role!
Oh well sucks for you hmm he's still good sorry if i sound b-word-y
I get it but he is my favorite Judas. It’s an odd choice but I think he’s phenomenal. The relationship between them in this production is my personal favorite and I adore this show
Perfect version.
He is the perfect actor for film version.
Jerome is the best Judas I've seen; vocals, acting - unrivalled
yeah, it's quite remarkable that we don't have a word for such actors... Actor act, but this performance is beyond acting...
I beg to differ☺ Jerome Pradon isn't bad, but he is nowhere in the same league with Murray Head or Carl Anderson.
@@sabineb.5616 Carl Anderson is utterly superb and the ultimate Judas vocally for me, but Jerome Pradon is perfect acting wise. Unique voice too.
yes
Can someone tell me why in the original song it says "I am frightened by the crowd for we at getting much to loud" nut in this one he says "our conqueres object to another noisy sect" the first one isn't bad
Well as you could probably see there was not crowd when he was singing, except in the end, so the direct just changed it up like some other small parts of the movie
+Molly Crombie I think it is an artistic statement intended to address and enhance the essence, of this performance, that we are all a capable of listening to the Victor's story, instead of forming our own opinion.
Andrew Lloyd Webber tends to change his songs for different versions of his musicals; there are different lyrics for the songs in his filmed version of Phantom as in the stage musical version.
you ask too many questions, my dear Molly
0:57 Jesus looks remarkably like getting up at three in the morning to get the last pudding cup from the fridge. 1:04 "Me Tarzan. You Judas."
I actually prefer this version of this song. There's more emotion here.
Have you seen Carl Anderson's version, his emotion is of the scale and his singing is AMAZING to
While very capably sung, my problem with this version is the fact the Judas shows up acting all, "Look how evil and nefarious I am" instead of "Look how genuinely concerned and frightened I am." Like, this song is written as a plea from one friend to another. Performing it like this leaves Judas's character nowhere to go for the rest of the story.
I don't think he is playing it as evil and nefarious, I think maybe he has a sort of jealousy for Jesus, and he wants do get rid of the disciples who seem to be closer to him than Judas - but he is certainly pained and worried at the end
"very capably sung" is being too generous, he is a horrible singer as well
Which revival do you mean? Jerome Pradon has only ever played Judas in this particular filmed version.
You're correct. And if anything, Judas is the protagonist. The show/album/movie are all essentially about him.
I disagree... Judas acts like a jealous gay lover of Jesus, which is the crucial point everyone seems to miss... but the hook is that Jesus isn't gay....
This version is bullcrap. I hate it.
Me to he can't sing at all
+Molly Crombie he sounds like Miranda sings at some bits
He can't sing at all? Who does this part better in you opinion? You maybe?
+drkuheuter Carl Anderson he is amazing in the 1973 version
+drkuheuter some bits he quite good but other bits it is out of tune
