Quorthon Interview on High Voltage May 3r 1994.

Geir Fosby speaks with Quorthon about his soloalbum "Album". The interview was done ad hoc I believe, and only with a bio from the label and not that much into black metal Geir didn't know that Bathory was no live act. Also it could seems that Black Mark was the band's own label. The most important after all is to hear Quorthons voice again.

Helvete når du dør som synder... Farvel Kristus og St. Peter
Gutte klubben på plata oslo S ... Back street girls...
12:35 fy faen jeg dør
AI Translator, because I'm not Norwegian: A couple of days ago, I was given a little note that said "come to Helvete" and I have just done that, and I find myself here now. One of the people I met, you can say who you are. Yes, we are the guys in Mayhem who have started the record shop, and it's called Helvete. The original idea was to sell a lot of black metal, death metal, and as much evil music as possible, but then we realized that we could start something that was missing in Norway, namely a shop for heavy music where we will try to get in almost everything, a specialty shop. Do you actually think there is too little of that kind of music around Oslo now? Yes, the only thing is that people have hot records, and hot records are not the best; they sell things really expensive, and they don't have a particularly large selection. So we figured it was time to fix a shop, a shop that we always wanted to go to when we were buying records. Can you maybe tell us how to find your way here? Well, it's really simple; you find Sveigårdsgate, which is the street that goes between the Oslo train station and the Oslo City gallery. Just drive there, that's Sveigårdsgate, and then just walk up until you see some Venom posters on the door and stuff, then you are there. And there aren't many records here yet, but I assume you plan to make this quite big eventually? Yes, that's right; we are going to import a lot, and there will be plenty to get your hands on eventually, so just keep an eye on the development. Will there be specialization within Death Thrash Metal? Yes, actually, there will be, even though we plan to try to take everything that falls under what is called heavy and try to get a bit of everything, simply because something like that has never existed in Norway before, and we have always thought a lot about starting something like this, and yes, simply put, we are starting up. Besides this, you play in ME-M, as you said. Will there be more ME-M records or concerts coming up? Yes, here it is a bit special because our singer blew his mind a couple of months ago, so we have been stressing a bit to get a new singer, which we have managed, but we are really broke, and that is also a problem when we want to release the records ourselves, and it will cost at least 50,000 kroner to go into the studio and release help and stuff, but that will come eventually. However, we are not going to play live because we simply refuse to play live because people are not young enough. We only want to play for people who are really brutal and extreme, who come to concerts in leather jackets, long hair, and spikes, and hell, but today it’s just little kids in sweatpants and skateboards who come, and we really don’t want to play for them, so there will be no live show. Your first LP disappeared incredibly fast, is there talk of re-releasing it? We've thought a lot about that, but it probably won't be until we've released the next LP, I think. Will there be talk of recording in England? No, it will be in Norway. Then I want to thank Øystein for talking to me, and wish you good luck with the store. Yes, and then we can just say, kids, go to Helvete!
Quite a good translation, thank you :D
genial
Du er faen meg nr.1 ! Setter utrolig pris på high voltage opplastingene dine. Å snuble over din kanal ga meg den gode følelsen fra gamle dager når man snublet over noe super sjeldent bortgjemt eksemplar av noe i platebutikken eller brukthandelen 🤘🤘🤘
Takker for det. Kommer mer :D
why he's always so chill and easygoing ? his personality seems really attractive
English subtitles would be nice.
😅 young Sigurd sounds like a street junkie from plata Oslo 😅 Jarle
Awesome! Many thanks! New interview for me!!!
It would be awesome if we get this translated in English ♥
For the first two minutes of the interview this seemed like a fairly normal "guy in a band talks about his new record shop", then it was "Oh, that's right. This is Mayhem."
Yeah he definitely turned on his evil edgy persona in the second half.
Wooooooooooow! Interessant, historisk og godt dokumentert.
@9:31 Dio did 2 music videos for Dehumanizer? I thought it was only "Tv Crimes" Im wondering which was the other one🤔
His voice.... 🖤
oh nice, i dont understand norwegian
1:04 "Go take a hike !" and then he went on more than 666 hikes himself in the Norwegian woods (Hiking Metal Punks !)
Satan for en drittsekk Øystein var!
Is this EUuronymous real voice or someone pretending to be him?
It's him. Interview done in his shop. We did more Interviews with him, and in the very early days, E did some guesthosting in the show, playing some of the music he distributed in Deathlike Silence.
@@ronnystli4143 is it possible to get this translated in English ?
@@schicksal1832 I see a few of you would love that, and the content is quite entertaining. After all it's only 3,5 minutes, so it shouldn't be impossible. But it require a little time, so I wouldn't expect it this week, but I'll note it on my to do list :D
@@ronnystli4143 thank you! That would be much appreciated. Are there any more audios of euronymous speaking? this one and the Swedish interview are the 2 I can only find.
@@ronnystli4143 were any of those early interviews recorded too? do you have any of those tapes? thanks for sharing this one

Thank you 💙
Thank you so much!!!
Nice
Takk for opplastingen.
How is it possible for someone's voice to not have even changed by 1hz after 30 years
Michael Jackson managed that too
Someone can resume a little bit this piece of story?
Yup - interviewer asks what Gylve thinks listeners will think of this new album, he says most will probably think " what have they done now?" And not like it. She asks what the point is to release something if people are not supposed to like it. Gylve says the right people will like it... it goes into more, questions about the change of styles and record company and so on. I'll see if I can translate a little later. It's funny because it was so trendy among black-metal people to be uncompromising and harsh in interviews, and you can tell Fenriz tries to be that way too, but he's really too friendly to pull it off. Interviewer asks a question and he starts to answer with the attitude of "I allready answered this if you paid attention to something I said earlier" attitude. You can almost hear the look she gives him, and he starts backing off.. And he just "yeah, let's not be rude.." lol
A relic... too bad I don't understand Norsk... if anyone would translate this that would be great. In the meantime, I will brush up on my Norwegian!
It's hilarious because of the tough-guy vibe all the black-metal guys put on with the press at the time, but in this interview it's obvious Fenriz is too nice and good-natured of a guy to pull it off, but he kind of tries and it just falls flat immediately, haha! 06:05 She asks what is the difference between death and black-metal, and why they switched. So Fenriz goes "Well... I TOLD you allready, yeah? Yeah... yeah... eheh well... one shouldn't be... uh yeah" Interviewer: "You shouldn't be rude here now" Fenriz: "I will not be rude.. no.. No."
@@Alexander_Tronstad Haha, I guess Fenriz hasn't changed much since then in that regard. Fascinating to hear this from 1991 a few years before (I think) Darkthrone went into a bit of an isolation around the Transilvanian Hunger/Panzerfaust era. I don't think Fenriz bothered much with media press and those mid 90s albums sound more introverted and darker than say Soulside Journey or A Blaze. Fenriz is quite theatrical on A Blaze.
@@Alexander_Tronstad 🤣 veldig bra.
Subtitles please lol

FUK!!!! This is an INCREDIBLE Song!!!!

Yeah!!!!!!
Indeed!
Really cool. I like the saturated red light in this video.
I would kill to see this in the states.
Same here
Weird, not only does Reaper sit down and play, he picks the guitar strings with his fingers like a bass!
wow.....now that is a interesting playing style!! that song Goat Cyclus is awesome!!!
Good band....
