back to your regularly scheduled 1* hist (probably) maps
this map is so much fucking character it's unreasonable. some of my favorite deco ever and the music is incredible and the styleground is beautiful and the gameplay is banger it just all works
i included the a-side even though i typically don't upload non-hist maps cause i like it. in the b-side, i think that Shiver and Metempsychosis are green +1. Hollow and Pisces are also really difficult, and Tribunal comes in 5th for me
it took me way too long to realize what was going on with the variants. this map uses a bunch of leniency settings: ultra & cb protection, alternative buffering (which lets you release keys early and still have the action happen), and multi-buffering set to 2. it's very different from normal speedtech maps but it feels good
there's an important piece of tech with the vines: if you hold grab while dashing at one, you can wait on it for a few frames as long as you climbjump before the dash ends. sometimes you'll need to do this to get things to line up, rather than buffering the jump upon hitting the vine (which can also eat all your speed in some cases so it's not good to do anyway. it's just like avoiding buffering normal ultras). anyway, i had a bit of a rough time early on because i use climbjump buttons, which means i was buffering every vine climbjump. it took until tokenizer before i realized that i needed to grab and wait, because it's like maybe impossible for the dashes after the second vine to line up if you don't wait on the vine. pisces was also significantly harder because of this
the reason timer is off in b-side is because this is a reclear; the bottom right clear times are for original clear. i cleared before an update which fixed the jumpthru retained scam that was making the start of every room much less consistent. i don't think it was significantly harder than the current version though, so the clear times are probably pretty accurate
