I am Danny, I upload bass covers and other music related stuff on this channel. I am a big Rush fan, I love trying to learn their quite intricate bass lines by ear and trying to memorise them (not that I ever get that far without the help of another individual's cover), it gives me more of a challenge which is more exciting than learning by sheet music and tab all of the time, wouldn’t you agree?

The art lies in writing. What genius to dream up this stuff
Squire really helped highlight the bass guitar and jet it into the forefront in rock music.
Simply awesome.
Some of Alex’s best playing ever. So fucking powerful
orgasmic
Whoa
A mellotron wouldn't say "Casio" on it.
And your point is?
I think Wakeman's Mellotron in this song is among the most beautiful I've heard... Hammond Organ as well, o'course...
Your timing isn't too bad - do you do any practicing with a metronome ? I found it to be more interesting practicing with a repeating drum machine pattern . I would do straight 4/4 beats , but also I would program crazy drum patterns / beats , and play along , trying to match every hit of the bass drum , especially , but also snare and tom rolls I would program in . I would speed up the tempo gradually . Someone said - " practice - if it sounds good , you're not doing it right . I think it was Steve Vai . Only by reaching , reaching , can you get better / faster . Keep up the good work ! Take care .
100% not JUST the bass. Fix the video, or fix the post. I can clearly hear things besides the bass.
You need background noise to know where you are in song. If you can do it better, go for it.
You absolutely crushed it!! This deserves way more views
After purchasing and playing with a pair of Ashly SC40’s(same as what Geddy used on the album)over the last 6 months with my Jazz and Ricky, it’s actually incredible how much the Ashly’s do play a factor in the sound. The gain structure plays a large factor in the distortion heard. It’s a clean distortion if you will
Cool hair
Thank you! It's all gone now though.
Damn so cool
I’m DREAMMAKER from DalWorth, TX and always wanted to be the “Black Rush”, but ain’t no way I could keep up with them!!! Way to killa!!! But I am getting close. Somebody tell Geddy that he’s my hero!
KICK-ASS!!!!
Are these flats or nylon strings on your bass, the tone is absolutely AWESOME!!!!
They are roundwounds but they were very old.
nicely done great sound on the bass learned the song from your channel keep it up.
Hmmm track 2 sounds OFF! Not the Red Barchetta lines i remember so well...
Thanks for sharing this! Bought the LP in high school & have spent 4 decades dissecting ALL these bass lines...
Cheerz! As my ear aint quite developed enuff 2 pick the entire baseline outta the full mix dis helps immensely 👍👍 thank u :) ❤️🖖
Drums and bass!!!
What kills me is all the trouble they went to to get Cliff, including moving to the Bay Area, then all but wiping his bass tracks from Lightning and Puppets. Listen to how chunky that is. No way to not to hear that is to turning it down like 400 decibels. With how 'no bullshit' Cliff was I don't know how he was okay with this.
I don't like listening to these isolated..the big picture is much more interesting..I do like hearing young Bill and Chris..
It’s almost like you’re in a Bill Bruford Chris Squire isolated track video 😮
Excellent!
Thank you :)
Wish I was there 😭😭😭
I love the end of the song great job young man !
Thank you!!
19:02 has a skip on my audio
I first heard this album when they performed it live in 1972. Though it was Alan White on drums, Bruford became my idol as I wasn’t at all familiar with Yes at the time, and Roundabout was just another pop single that faded until I experienced Yes live. I’d love to hear only the drums for every Yes song Bruford performed.
This was awful. the best part of the song is the bass melody completely edited out. Its not like he cant play Squire's part. If anything should be edited out is Downes keyboard. But enough on that since everyone is having a field day with that. And this tour should be called "50 Years: The retirement Tour, Finally."
How did you record your Jazz?
Very simple system. I placed my camera on my desk and my amp right next to the built in mic, then placing my phone next to it for the playing the song.
Excellent!
Heaven is going to be great!
amazing!
lol. Alas, thy phone ist nicht as epic as a full blown separate camera! lol.
STEVE. Call it a day already! I love yes, but Come On!
Gênio.
Awesome! Some amazing fills in this song. What a great groove too!
the AI isolation is garbage. not your fault.
For a DIY isolation some parts are really clear! Nice
There some sort of filter on this track. I don’t think it’s what the original track sounds like if it was solo’d
Its an artifact of the AI algorithms used to separate the stems. It can't properly pull the treble from the bass tracks, so it sounds weird and high passed like this
Very interesting video. Geddy's imagination matches his considerable technical prowess, making him one of the finest rock bassists in music.
very good, keep practicing👍👍
Neil loved doing these instrumentals.
That growl is iconic. He found the Jazz Bass in a pawn shop, plugged it in and loved the tone, bought it, and switched to it almost at once. Twenty years later, the tech tore it down for a complete overhaul and said, "Huh, there's a short across some of the pickup coils." Ged: "And we're not going to fix it." Tech: "Absolutely not." That short coil, the boosted midrange, and live, a whisper of flange, plus his aggressive plucking style is where all that tone comes from.
I’d argue you slightly. While yes guitars vary piece to piece and individual tidbits will always be a factor, the Ashly SC40 pre-amps are a massive part of the tone across the board on this album. I have 2 myself and can vouch for a large chunk of this tone comes from the gain structure on the Ashly’s. I have come very very close to it with mine on the Rick and Jazz playing the respective songs they were used on. And limelight is a Rick🙂
@@showdonttellyyzAs someone who owns a 70's Ric and has spent many hours knob twiddling with various preamps, yeah Limelight is definitely a Ric, if not just the neck pickup then with very very little bridge pickup. Also I feel like people don't know that Geddy had a '73 and a '77 4001 and they do not sound the same.
@@Sheehy223 yup, I agree with you there. It’s a thicker neck pickup sound on the tone. But obviously a Rickenbacker none the less. Yes, I knew about the 2 basses. Quickly distinguished by the bridge surround. The 73 was white, the 77 was black.
Keep up the great work, Daniel! Between the cover and your tee, you're on the right path.
Thank you!!
Mr. Winerib plays pretty well.
He does indeed
Great video. I can hear clearly what he is doing and it’s not obscured by screeching synth tones.
Fart fart fart buzz buzz clank fart buzz clank clank..... Sounds great 👍
Nice job ..just need to tweak the tone a bit … geddy likes some gritty top end to get it too cut through the mix. There are some solo tracks of his on UA-cam you can match against. Keep it up.
