Episode 3, Great Pitchers and Hitters Who Are Not on Baseball Cards
Cool video, my friend! I’m glad you showcased Brandon Phillips. He was a solid player for the Reds and doesn’t get talked about much. Also, the Transogram Clemente is sweet! Display that one for sure. Take care!
Thank you so much! Brandon was always an effervescent player. He is also from where I used to live in Georgia, so I dug that about him.
That’s a very cool idea for a pc. Awesome Clemente transogram! Never seen that one before and it is awesome. Personally, since the other cards are modern, I’d keep the modern Clemente in that pc and have the transogram on display. Have a great weekend man 👊🏻⚾️
Thank you so much! I appreciate you checking in. Have a wonderful week!!
Mel Blount rules! Not much I still buy in FB besides older defensive guys. Blount, Lem Barney, Night Train Lane, Lee Roy Selmon, Mike Haynes... I really like the DBs from the 50'-70's. Great cards and piece! I still need a Blount RC in an 8 or higher myself. Enjoyed the video!
Thank you so much! Those guys were amazing back in the day. Good luck in finding the Blount in an 8! I would love to find a Night Train Lane Rookie.
@@RetroCardSpective1 You bet! Thanks, he's one of the last 20 or so guys I still really want in FB RCs. Man, I had a chance at a Night Train RC in an 8 and waited too long. I think it went to auction and went higher than the original asking price if I remember correctly. I regret that, it would have been a centerpiece for the Lions HOF RC collection!... Best of luck finding your copy!
Nice VR, that 1914 "card" is amazing! It's like a mini quilt! I'm looking forward to a breakdown on these! Are there any Hall of Famers who would have rookies in these? I get the privacy and I respect that.
Thank you so much! I looked really quickly, and none of the HOFers have a rookie in that set as far as I know. Glad to see you on here!
@@RetroCardSpective1 Ah, I see... Thank you very much for checking on that for me and it's my pleasure! Those may be something I look to buy in the future if I can grade them. Very cool item!
Thanks for the great info on Mel Blount! Crazy that he was t drafted until the 3rd round! Sweet cards too and I love the Sunoco stamp!
Thank you so much! Im so glad to see you on here! I dont how much NFL GMs paid attention to HBCUs back then, which might be why he fell so far. It couldn't be that he was undersized, lol. Did you ever see the video of him dropping Cliff Branch on his head?
Thank you for the response to my contest. That's a really nice 66 Rose and the blanket squares are super cool historical artifacts.
Thank you! Congratulations and glad to see you on here!
You can’t go wrong with Aaron, great showcase! 🤩
Thank you Shane! Aaron showcases are always fun!
These are some great looking Hank Aaron cards. I am a huge fan of his 1972 Topps card. One of my favorite cards of his. Especially in his later years of playing ball. Great share here and thanks for sharing with us buddy. Always enjoy.
Thank you Steve! The 72 is certainly a classic!
The evolution of the infamous ‘stache across his cardboard run, love it! Also love the Angel Hernandez centering on that ‘81 😆 Was very entertaining hearing about his career timeline with the cards to accompany it, really like these videos. Great stuff, man! 👊😃
Thank you so much! Im glad someone caught the Angel Hernandez quip! LOL
Fantastic spotlight of Rollie Fingers. I think it is awesome seeing clean shaven Rollie to mustache Rollie. That's awesome you put your player runs in binders. Mine are all chopped up. Top loaders and binders. Lol. Love the look of his 1970, 1971, 1980, 1984. For sure sounds like injuries caught up with him towards the end of his career. Enjoyed.
Thank you! Having the player runs in binders in neat for flipping through, not so much when it is time to show them on UA-cam.
As an A's fan, Rollie Fingers was one of my favorites as a kid.
Thats really neat! I'm sorry to see what is happening to your team.
Well done 👍 🎉
Thank you so much!!
Oh man, how cool is it that you were able to find a new member of the club just in time to witness him cross the threshold. Love it! That game-used dirt card is pretty cool too, had never heard of those before. Imagine getting a pull like that out of Opening Day of all products?! Congrats!
Thank you so much! It was really neat to know he had made it! I just wish I could find the video.
Great selections and want list cards for the VR for Pepino Man! I LOVE that you have that Sam Rice, been looking to pick one of those up myself. Have an entire episode on Rice coming to my channel soon, actually! Your ‘90s selection of Buck O’Neil made me smile ear to ear. Great list of channels at the end, I’m subbed to them all! Cheers!
Thank you so much! I look forward to seeing that video about Sam Rice! I just hope that somewhere, Buck knows all the love and respect people give him.
Pretty cool you have all but one 500 HR guys. I couldn't even imagine ordering a card from Korea! I tried Australia one time and it became a mess. After months of non-sense i finally did get refunded. Lol. I am a fan of opening day inserts/ opening day ceremony/mascot type cards. something fun and different to see. The base is frustrating because they are basically flagship minus the opening day logo. Cool to get a dirt card. Do not see a lot of them. Enjoyed.
Thank you! I have been decently lucky with buying cards from Australia, Taiwan and Japan. I wonder if the issue with this one came from our local USPS hub, which has been having problems. It would be nice if the opening day base had another photo. Great to see you on here!
Nice cards. See eye to eye on handful of your picks! Pepino and Darren are the best.
Thank you and great to see you on here! The community is really neat!
Great cards and dream card choices. Thanks for participating
Thank you and congrats on the 3K subscribers!
Thanks for doing the VR! Good luck with the Luque! That's a great choice!! Awesome shoutouts! Thanks for participating!
Thank you so much! Congratulations on such a successful channel!
The Paul Molitor RC. 3 out of the 4 players had great careers. To me that is one of the best Combo Rookie cards of all time. Like the Clemente Page. Nice choices of cards and thanks for sharing with us.
Thank you so much! The only thing the Molitor/Trammell rookie needs is a Brewers hat for Molitor.
Hello from the rising sun Japan 🇯🇵 I am a new subscriber
Hello and welcome aboard! It is great to see you from the other side of the world!
Man I really enjoyed this. Nothing is more fun to me than hear and see peoples favorite cards and from each decade even better. Awesome page of Clementes !! 👊🤙🤙
Thank you and aloha Dylan! 🤙Im glad you enjoyed my video! I really enjoy seeing your card room!
good call holding on to that ohtani rookie! great VR by the decades.
Thank you so much! Yeah, Ohtani seems to be pretty good!
Subbed you back. Welcome to UA-cam.
Thank you so much! I hope to see more from you on here soon!
Nice spotlight on Tony Perez. I didn't remember him with the Red Sox. Have a great week.
Thank you so much. I wonder what other HOF had a span with a team in the middle of their career with a team that fans have nearly forgotten? I hope you have a great week too!
I agree, if you asked me to name *all* of the HOFers who played for Boston I might have gotten Perez, but if you asked me to name *one* there’s no chance he would’ve been the first name out of my mouth. Great profile on an interesting player I don’t seem to hear much about! Nice touch doing it for episode #24, too 👊
Thank you as always! I wonder if people think of him more with the Red Sox or Expos?
Big soccer fan here, and I love collecting the sport too. I’ve only been a fan since about 2011 though, so I learned a lot in this episode. Great cards and information, I am now officially caught up on your videos. Cheers! 👊😃
Thank you so so much!! I am just so thankful that you have watched all of my videos! I would like to watch all of your videos but it might take me a while mr over 900 videos!
Nice to score that free Ohtani card from NomahLovesYah! Love that Japanese issue also, very cool. Awesome information on Chris Carter, would not have guessed that!
Thank you so much! Players like Chris Carter are why I enjoy the global so much!
Excellent look at a guy who had a sneaky good career. I just finished the chapter on him in Joe Posnanski’s The Baseball 100, so the timing of seeing this was perfect for me. I loved watching him play during his short but successful stint in Boston. Great showcase!
Thank you! I wonder if the Sox could have won more titles had they kept him.
Great job linking the themes around the founding of our country to some cool and unique cards. Happy belated anniversary, and what a wonderful T206 card!
Thank you! It is always great to see you on here!
Some cool soccer cards man. Really like the look of that Kenny Dalgush card. Looks awesome. Thanks for sharing with us. Hope you are doing well.
Thank you, we are quite well here. Hope things are well with you guys in Nebraska!
What a great story! Orlando needs to see this! I can relate to the “joys” of modern computers as I work in IT for a career. They’re a blessing and a curse! 😆
We can certainly talk about fun in IT! I worked in IT back when the OS of choice was Windows NT or Windows 98.
How cool is it that Alex Cabrera sits at #8?! Love that. Same with Espina at #4. Love this project that you are tracking, just so fascinating.
Thank you! Espino is a really neat story. After a month in the US, he went back to Mexico and became a here by staying in the Mexican league despite multiple offers by MLB teams.
What a great and interesting group! I would personally love to learn more about Kaneda. Also the non-HOF MLBers, to me the more obscure the story the more interesting!
Thank you! I am working on a deep dive on a couple of these pitchers. As it turns out, compiling career numbers for these guys isnt as easy as it sounds.
Glad you are enjoying the card! Thanks for the shoutout! I’m subbed to your channel, good luck with it!
Thank you so much! I really hope you enjoy the videos!
This was an absolutely beautiful tribute. Wonderful storytelling. I am honestly honored to be the first person to comment on this video. 🖤
Thank you so much! I am really thankful that we met up on here!
As someone who is really more of a fringe football collector, I learned a lot in this episode. It was cool seeing all the designs laid out year by year. Great stuff!
Thank you so much! What do you collect in football?
Great job! I never thought Beltre had a chance at being a hall of famer but he put together quite the career. Take care!
Thank you! I wonder how many players there are like Beltre who started like teenagers but were not phenoms and still made the HOF. You take care too!
Was so cool to see the entire run of Topps designs all in one video here. I love that you showed some lesser remembered but still interesting players like Walt Bond, Oscar Gamble, Soriano, etc. Great to see Will Clark included also. A thoroughly enjoyable half hour over morning coffee! 😃
Thank you Shane! My original version of the one of every year had Don Zimmer as a Washington Senator, but I lost those in a move.
Very well done, stay connected! New supporter 4 done
Thank you and great to have you on board!
Came here from Shane’s channel! Great info on Wills and Minoso. You’re right that miscut makes it look like an entirely different set of
Thank you and welcome aboard!!
New sub here. Super fun video. Love the research, and am totally with you on Minoso and Wills. Great stuff!
Thank you so much, glad to have you on board! I look forward to seeing more of your content!
Great info about Minnie and Maury! Also, that miss cut card does look like a whole new design. Very interesting. Thanks for the mention and have a great weekend!
You are quite welcome and I hope you have a wonderful week ahead!
4,459 professional hits for Minoso?!?! Was so cool to hear his collective stats like that for the first time. I’ve been trying to find any info on Wills playing for the Tigers in the Negro Leagues for a while now also, but yeah not much confirmation that I’ve seen out there. That miscut is wild! Thanks for the mention, and I’m glad the shoutout brought a few folks your way! Love your channel and what you are doing with the Global Professional Collection. Keep ‘em coming! 👊😃
Thank you! If you find anything on that 1950 Tigers team with Wills, can you let me know? Keep rocking those videos!
New sub here! Loved the story and cards here! Great Thomas Jefferson! Jackie is sick too! Saw your channel on Shane’s channel! Well done!!
Thank you so much! Its good to have another Hoosier on here!!
@@RetroCardSpective1 Oh cool! I am in the upper north corner, where are you?
@@basementcardcollector I live in Georgia now, but Im originally from East Central Indiana, half way between Indy and Dayton Ohio. Or as its otherwise known as the middle of nowhere.
@@RetroCardSpective1 Lol, well we are a small town too, an hour from Fort Wayne .
Great cards to show on July 4th and what it represents. Congrats on getting the T206 Harry Lord. Lots of great baseball men on that 1910 Red Sox team. Also, congratulations on 16 years of marriage and pursuing happiness together. I’m a new subscriber and I heard about you from Shane.
Thank you for the kind wishes! I really like the card room you have put together!
Welcome to youtube sports card content creation. I was sent here by Shane @shoeboxlegends, great job on the first video, I hope to get caught up on more soon.
Thank you, glad to have you on board! I shall check out your channel as well!
Wonderful tribute to your dad. Having that personal connection with your Ted Williams card is a gift beyond measure. Willie was my childhood hero, and he will be missed but never forgotten. Thank you for sharing your story.
Thank you, it's crazy how often a card will trigger a memory of a loved one.
Great presentation. Fantastic research. I love the hunt for information as well. There is so much history behind these players depicted on small pieces of cardboard. Thanks for introducing us to a very special player.
Thank you, your passion for research shows itself in the work you have put in on your channel!
Nice presentation. Beautiful cards. Love hearing your family story and the historical perspective. And Happy Anniversary! Keep pursuing happiness. Just subscribed. Looking forward to catching up on your videos! Take care, Rob.
Thank you so much! Happiness is almost as much fun to pursue as baseball cards. :) It is good to have you on board.
Congats on 16 years of marriage. Also love the 56 Jackie Robinson and Thomas Jefferson. Enjoyed.
Thank you! I enjoy your channel as well!!
