Scar Tissue Solo Moscow

I tried to do a cover of the final solo of Scar Tissue from Moscow 1999. The audio isn't perfectly synced up, I'm gonna go back to my video editing software and tweak it just a bit so its more accurate. I'm playing on a Vox AC30c2 through a Boss Ds-2 and Ibanzes WH10 with a Holy Grail reverb through the effects loop. I mic'd up the amp with a Shure Sm57 through a Zoom R8 and into Mixcraft Pro S...

A little loop I did of the intro of one of my favorite Mark Knopfler songs. This is Not My Orginal work. I cut a portion of the actual recording and looped it for fun. All Credit goes to Mark Knopfler. Enjoy in G minor pentatonic.

A jam track I made for the little jam with John, Chad and Flea from the Grammy Rehearsal video here on UA-cam. This jam is in B Dorian. Use the B minor pentatonic and experiment! By the way, the main melody John plays is 11,12,14 on the g string, followed by 12, 15 on the b. I prefer playing this on the b and high e strings while staying in the first position b minor pentatonic. This melody is ...

I made a jam track for the Frank Zappa song Son Of Orange County. I specifically used the video of Zappa Plays Zappa with Dweezil as a reference. I play in C# minor pentatonic or E Major Pentatonic while emphasizing some Lydian sounding notes. Use Dweezil's live version as a reference. Enjoy! By the way, here is a link to the version I was referring to. ua-cam.com/video/4DVguBGbtgM/v-deo.html S...
Scar Tissue Sao Paulo Intro Backing Track

D minor Pentatonic! This is just a simple jam track I made for that groovy intro. Its rough around the edges but if enough people enjoy it ill make a better version that sounds more complete and less chopped and looped. I used Mixcraft 6 with a MIDI keyboard and a bass guitar plugged into an interface. I just thought I'd share because it's fun to jam to. Here's a reference: ua-cam.com/video/c6Y...

    Great job. The time of this would be considered 6/8 because the kick falls on 1 and the and of 3 and the snare on the downbeat of 4. The key of this would be A Major. The chords to A Major would be Amaj7 Bm7 C#m7 Dmaj7 E7 F#m7 G#7b5. The tonal center would be C#. If modes is your things, you could call it Phrygian however if you tell someone C#m Phrygian, you have to go and think, and if you say key of A, tonal center C#, you know there are 3 sharps and all the chords. This of course is just a guideline as you could look at each chord individually and not look at them both as a common key. So you could play the in the key of A, B, or E for the C#m chord ( of course there are other scales as well, harmonic major and doubles but for this purpose keeping it simple), and for the Dmaj7 chord you could play in A or D. Anyway so much you could do, just wanted to put my two cents in. Great job on the track. I would love to use it as a background on my channel and would give you credit if I did, if thats ok with you.

    • @benjaminkrutledge7425
      @benjaminkrutledge7425 7 років тому

      that leading tone G chord would actually be a G#-7b5 so you have the diminished triad in the chord (likewise it could be replaced by a G#dim triad, but then again all of these chords could be replaced by their triadic versions). And phrygian is actually really easy to think about when playing if you think of it as a Minor scale with a flattened second.

    • @TheDogPa
      @TheDogPa 4 роки тому

      My brain thinks "C# Phrygian is Dorian down 2, or B Dorian, which is of course, A Major. Tone centers on key given, which is C#." Everyone learns minor pentatonics. Adding 2 notes to get to Dorian and reading a cheat sheet is easy...if you are just jamming. If you are writing it, the circle of 5ths comes in handy.

Also, not sure if i can send you a document through youtube. by all means message me, we'll exchange emails and ill send you a pdf/word doc etc. :)

    In a 1999 issue of READ magazine, an article entitled THE LOST INTERVIEW, Frank is quoted "Black Napkins is actually two chords that goes between C sharp minor and D7 major. But there's a lot of different keys you can play in there. I play an F sharp major on top of that". If you watch the MIKE DOUGLAS appearance, that's what it appears (at least to me) he's playing.
