I get why Lucas did it, but Luke only knows the older Anakin, so it makes more sense that he would appear to Luke as the older version of himself as he did in the original version. "How it should have ended," even parodied this by having Anakin show up as an old man and Luke saying ,"Thanks for appearing to me as someone I'd recognize." And Anakin says,"Well, I could appear like this, " and turns into Hayden, "Or this." And turns into his kid self. And Yoda says. "Do not, please!"

The day this returns for its 50th anniversary, I’m watching it in cinemas. Must have been a legendary experience for those back in 1983. I have always loved this film and will always love it.

I know I'm going to catch flak for this, but I do not like this edit. Don't get me wrong. Haydn is Anakin. Anakin is Haydn. I will fight to the death anyone who says otherwise. XD But this is a bad edit that comes across to me as pandering. I know the reasoning I always hear to justify it is something like "it's the last time Anakin was a Jedi" or "It's because this was the last time Anakin was Anakin before his fall" or something like that. Except no. In that moment when he sacrificed himself to save Luke and destroy the emperor, he WAS Anakin again, the Jedi hero again. I get it, some people like it. Me personally, I do not. I know, I know. Send the hate. Bring on the "asgfkeawbfifusfid COPE WITH IT BRO" comments.
