Philippine National Railways Year 2000 | #nscr #nscr North–South Commuter Railway
The PNR later suffered from a multitude of reasons which contributed to its decline, including natural disasters and a lack of support from the government. Government funding during the 1970s were shifted to road-based infrastructure such as highways. On July 23, 1979, President Ferdinand Marcos issued Executive Order No. 546, which designated the Philippine National Railways as an attached agency of the Ministry of Transportation and Communications, now the Department of Transportation (DOTr). However, it did not prevent the agency from suffering heavy losses. In 1983, underfunding has resulted in more cutting of services and the layoff of 1,000 employees which resulted in protests the following year.
The decline of the railway became evident as sections of North Main Line closed in stages. In 1984, services were cut short to Paniqui, Tarlac due to a bridge collapse. Services were then again cut short to Caloocan in 1988 during the term of President Corazon Aquino. However, commuter services were briefly extended to Malolos starting in 1990 under the Metrotren project and was later closed in 1997.When Fidel V. Ramos succeeded Aquino, he decided to rehabilitate the South Main Line from Tutuban to Legaspi, and appointed Jose B. Dado as the new PNR general manager. A railway system running from Manila to Clark was also set to be constructed in the 1990s, when Ramos signed a memorandum of agreement with Juan Carlos I of Spain for its construction in September 1994. Another project, called the Manila-Calabarzon Express, sought to rehabilitate the south commuter line in Manila and construct spur lines. However, the two projects were not implemented, with the Clark railway project cancelled due to disagreement on the source of funding.[14]

2022 update pa ito. sa panahon na di pa ginigiba ung magsaysay flyover (dahil sa historical value) kaya ung option noon ng NSCR at nlex connector road ay dadaan sa ibabaw ng LRT2 kaya din sobrang taas ng sta mesa station sa plano. Pero may nabalitaan ako na since dinaan sa ilalim ung NLEX connector, isasabay na rin ung NSCR. at ililipat ung location ng stamesa station doon sa kabilang side ng magsaysay blvd. sa (paltok street) para mapalapit sa LRT2 pureza station.

@@fameu1007 iniba nga nila pati ung station design ng jica nung inaward nila itong contract package sa acciona dmci. noong 2023 kasabay sa presentation din ng walkthrouh ung paglipat ng espana station sa florentino st. pati ung sta mesa station. pero ngayon parang inuulit nila ung mga detailed study nila pati soil testing kaya pwede parin magbago ulit.

Wow! Very nice update po ito! Ang galing...saludo po ako sa inyo. Thankful sa progress ng NSCR...at least ang pre-construction activities ay unti-unti nang sinisimulan. Once matapos na yung last leg ng NLEX-SLEX Connector Road hanggang sa Skyway Stage 3, for sure, clear na ang area na ito para sa full blast ng construction activities! I think the ultimate plan is to use both Manila airports once NMIA opens. The existing NAIA should be treated like Haneda Airport while NMIA would be expected to be treated like Narita Airport; while the distance between NMIA and downtown Manila is expected to be less than the distance between Narita and downtown Tokyo. Very likely, the premium airlines can use both airports for international flights while the budget airlines' usage for international flights would likely need to move to NMIA. The budget airlines' domestic flights can still use both airports. I also think the new airport would be used for non-stop flight distances longer than between Manila and New York on Philippine Airlines on the Airbus A350 or Boeing 777X-8.

Tokyo has Haneda and Narrita. London has Heathrow, Gatwick, City of London, and Stanstead. Bangkok has two airports whose names are so complicated I'm not gonna bother to spell them out. Manila is one of the most highly urbanised capitals in the world. So yeah there's an absolute need to rehabilitate
If they plan to extend T2 west wing towards the cargo area, why not connect it with T1? So passengers can easily access both terminals without going through the train stations underneath?

Wow! This is really something to look forward to and be excited about NAIA. The subway station to T3 is so cool and the plan to extend further to connect T2 and T1 and all the way to PITX is awesome! This will make NAIA so accessible. Can't wait to watch your next video for the subway Phase 1 & Phase 2, 4 kilometer branch line! So many things to be thankful for in the Philippines. I hope San Miguel will first fulfill its contract to improve the Godofredo P. Ramos (Boracay) Airport before anything else. After makuha ng San Miguel ang pamamahala sa airport na yun in 2010, very minimal lang ang improvement sa complex. Terminal remains cramp and lacks facilities fitting of a world class destination that is Boracay.

I hope that this time around we Filipinos will no longer be ashamed of being the laughing stock of the international community in terms of airport efficiency, no more flight delays, no more laglag bala on bags or luggages, no more stealing of personal belongings, no more airconditioning problems. I would like to thank Mr. Ramon Ang for taking bold steps to make this happen. He is not a politician but his efforts are far better and remarkable compared to those who are seated in the government/senate/congress - shame on you. The Filipinos need more people like Ramon Ang for our country.
Did the laglag bala return? I thought it disappeared with Noynoy's government.
