Coastal & Heartland National Estuary Partnership

We are a partnership of citizens, elected officials, and resource managers working together to protect and restore water and wildlife habitat in Central and Southwest Florida, established in 1995. CHNEP is one of 28 organizations nationwide in the National Estuary Program and 1 of 4 within the state of Florida.

Presented by Steve Suau of Carbon-Life, LLC. and Jennifer Hecker, Executive Director of CHNEP, this presentation shares findings from a joint research effort and recent publication looking at intensification factors of harmful blooms. The project examined relationships between land-based nitrogen loads and red tide events in Southwest Florida.
