Spare gearbox well overdue for a strip and clean out , new oils seals and replace any parts needed
Brilliant thank you so much wouldn’t have known where to start without you
How did the box end up? Did it stop slipping out of 2nd?
Great series, thanks,
اليوم الخميس ٣١مايو ٢٠٢٣ جيت اشوفه عشان الطبق مع ابويه ❤
All British made cars , no exceptions, even RR , they corrode easily.
you should have put speedo housing on transfer case first better load feel on the bearings
Thanks Grumpy, out of all the rebuild videos on the series gearbox yours seemed to sink in,
I wish I had seen this before stripping my one down!
you dont need all that yuky grease
Great video especially the explanation on the 4 wheel drive selection system. I’m having trouble selecting 4 wheel high with the yellow knob. I depress the yellow knob and it won’t stay down (depressed) it just springs back up. In your experience what do you think is the cause? The red lever 2 high and 4 wheel low works fine. Thanks
I’m having the exact same problem. Did you manage to sort it out? I feel like the pin is just seized and won’t push out of the casing far enough for 4wd to engage… but I’m not sure
This is the only explanation I have found for removing the transfer shaft. Well done and thank you.
new or old spare parts for gearbox my friend. which is better?
Thanks for clear illustration of what's involved.
2:26 that "seal" is a mystery to me why it is the way it is, oil eventually goes through the middle of the spring and leaks out avoiding the seal.
Just changed the main shaft oil seal, thank you for the video. It helped.
Hit with a hammer
Muchas gracias por mostrarnos estos videos muy instructivos por favor si fuera posible en español gracias
Cleanliness is close to godliness. And a tidy bench is a sign of a sick mind.
good day, i have a question. what can cause reverse gear to not work. keeps making a grinding noise and jumping off . thanks.
i subscribed as i think you are very goos at both video presentation and naration, good video!
Gear transfer tell me
13:10. it's a pity that you have gone to the trouble of recording such a useful video, only to put the camera in such a position that we can't see what you are doing. The camera on the other side of the gearbox would have worked better.
Thanks for posting this tutorial, my transfer box is still on my "to do" list
missing you timothy, hope you’re resting well up there 👼
Great series, definitely going to reference this in a future gearbox rebuild. Thanks
Did you drive the shoe-adapter back, before you draw the drum off?
Excellent video, thanks
Thanks so much for this video. Answered many questions for me. My 71 SIIA is stuck in 4WD. I have checked the action of all the controls including the yellow knob locking pin and they are all functional, but for some reason the dog doesn't disengage. This video gives a very clear picture of how the mechanism works.
The mainshaft thrust washer (@24 seconds) came off the wrong way round - the oil grooves should face inwards towards the front of the box. The stepped side sits against the bearing in the gearbox casing at the rear of the box.
👍
🙏
Great "series" of videos pal, help me me on end thanks 👍 how are the britpart bearings any good?
Nice vid! Would really love to see more land rover content
What years the box from?
Enjoyed that. More like how I expect my strip down to go tomorrow! Thanks for sharing. All the best Mat
Great video mate, cheers
EL SALVADOR CENTRAL AMÉRICA...👍
Thanks for the explanation. I didn't have a clue before watching your video. Thanks again
I'am watching your vids to find out why when in reverse and letting out the clutch I get a teeth chattering noise. Would it be the lay shaft not connecting with the main and reverse gear?
Missing teeth on the reverse pinion or first pinion probably
@@highdownmartin Thanks, After removing the top rear plate on the box, I found the large nut loose & the tabbed washer was not bent over.
@@jamespunch8049 they have a habit of coming loose. Easy fix tho
Like the bespoke brake adjusters.
Great video. Really enjoyed it thanks. Subscribed.
Can't tell you how useful these videos are. Thanks.
Your very kind, thank you
Thanks a lot. Watched the entire series. Did the same gearbox with your assistance in the Kalahari in South Africa. Really appreciate how comprehensive you were.
Hello Grumpy! Have you done a video on front output box? There’s a bearing in there and mine seems a bit wobbly!
Hi Paul, it's in the rebuild Part 1
