Out-take from a text program last week. Not without some interest, just not what I was intending. Made with #processing and some help from #chatgpt. I'd love suggestions, feedback, and comments. Generative Painting demo 2
Переглядів 297 годин тому
Added a few features since the last time I used this program. 1. Modes for different brushes ( size and number) 2. An erase mode 3. Facetracking 4. color averaging. 5. toggle off or on a heads up display. Made with #processing and some help from #chatgpt. I'd be very interested in suggestions, feedback, and comments. Please subscribe for more. If you're interested in the code, I will post it on...
preliminary setup for Processing Motion Graphic Playground
Переглядів 289 годин тому
Second video for today. The opening stages before my last video. One can create 10 types of shapes and alter their size and position and give them nine adjustable behaviors. This program started as a way to make black and white shape masks for further work, but I added an array of color as well. This video gives a better idea of the masking creation. Made with #processing and some help from #ch...

A rather extensive bit of code I've been working on. I can create 10 types of shapes and alter their size and position and give them nine adjustable behaviors. This program started as a way to make black and white shape masks for further work, but I added an array of color as well. Next video will be black and white setup of these shapes. Made with #processing and some help from #chatgpt. I'd b...

Replaced circular video PGraphics in Processing with adjustable arcs. Added more functionality, especially in terms of tinting and color. PGraphics open up a lot of possibilities in Processing. Made with #processing and some help from #chatgpt. I'd love suggestions, feedback, and comments. Please subscribe for more. Mattes And Trails with Text in Processing
Переглядів 52День тому
I've worked with fading trails in Processing for ages. Now I'm trying to combine that with track mattes that can temporarily make a thing seem to disappear - the secret is to match the matte with the background - I picked up this principle when using After Effects. Not perfect results here, but I feel like I'm making progress. I also really dig the results. Made with #processing and some help f...

Returning to an idea I had several years ago when I discovered that the fill colors of text can be modulated over time inside of Processing. I'm also exploring distortion effects here too. This is likely the first messy step into more substantial research. Even at only a couple of days in, the tool I made to create this video has so much more functionality and so many more features. Much more i...

Inspired by the paintings of Paul Kremer, strangely enough. A return to moving blob shapes. This time with dropShadows and many other UI experiments. Made with #processing and some help from #chatgpt. I'd appreciate suggestions, feedback, and comments. Please subscribe for more. If you're interested in the code, I will post it on Github. Likely on Open Processing by tomorrow. #creativecoding #g...

Continuing to refine the mirror/painting/drawing algorithm. Now using openCV for face tracking and both flocking algorithms and edge alignment. This time just working with myself in my own webcam. Glitchy but it has some merits, I think. I feel like I'm on a productive track. Made with #processing and some help from #chatgpt. I'd appreciate suggestions, feedback, and comments. Experimenting with some image mirrors/drawing algorithms. I like the way these images transition into each other. Lots of good stills too. Made with #processing and some help from #chatgpt. I'd appreciate suggestions, feedback, and comments. Please subscribe for more. If you're interested in the code, I WILL post it on Github and Open Processing eventually. #creativecoding #generativedesign #vi...

this channel is crazy
Thanks , I guess. I'll take that as a positive.
This was so fun to put on and rest my eyes to! I kept imagining that one circle was "winning" or beating the others, but in the end it didn't matter...
Thanks. I can understand those feelings. I wonder if I could turn this into a low stakes game.
@@justinlincoln That'd be a neat concept.
The grids and waves really came together to make something trippy!
Thanks.
They’re randomized but also use some condition checks to make sure there are no overlaps or breaks in logic. Glad you like them. I figure that I am at least 80% done in this project.
That was interesting, and the silence made it feel sad in a way. Maybe there was just something about a lot of activity but no sound...
I used to put noise soundtracks on my videos. I've been rather silent lately. Maybe bringing sound back into my practice soon.
@@justinlincoln *Sounds* good
Those were some cool layouts 👍 Were they part of a set pattern, or generated randomly?
It's very random but uses constraints and checks to make sure there is no overlap or breaking of the margins.
@@justinlincoln That's cool!
Those were some trippy and satisfying color drops 😮
Thanks. Touch Designer is so good at handling this kind of thing. Noise and feedback are so essential to this kind of thing and TouchDesigner handles those things so well.
I'm experimenting with Processing and Grok (from xAI) right now and it's a ton of fun. That gradient demo is really cool!
Thanks, I'll have to check out Grok. Thanks for the tip. I just followed your channel.
@@justinlincoln Oh awesome! I hope you enjoy what you see there, and if not, feel free to unsub. I know it's pretty random.
Wow this was trippy! I haven't seen pixels manipulated quite like that before, and the music was something else too.
The images use a Shader by Adam Ferriss brought into Processing. Adam has shared his shaders in Github. The sound was made with a Teenage Engineering PO-35 (Speak) Glad you liked it.
That was trippy! My mind couldn't decide if each of the shapes was 2D or 3D, and I liked the gradual color changes 👍
It is 3D. I like the 2D/3D ambiguity.
What’s the MIDI controller you’re using?
Korg nanoKontrol Studio Mobile MIDI controller. It can use Bluetooth.....or I can connect to my lightning port with the right cable..
Snell is Lionel Snell aka Ramsey Dukes.
At moments it looks like a black and white tartan
Thanks Sharon. Glad you liked it.
Nice one Justin 8^)))
Thanks Walter. I've enjoyed the direction of your recent work too.
hmmm, had to trim out some material due to a copyright claim. Interesting to find that UA-cam allows this as an automated option now ....currently in process.
I think of the scrolling backdrop (via Tumblr archives) as a representation of the insides of my head. Random associations. I also think some of my favorite vlogs have a playful connection with viewers. On another front isn't unalienated work a form of play?
Initiating a positive connection for play/work via comment. The scrolling is mesmerizing and reminds me of days digging through microform.
😂
Thanks for the shout out. I am gratitude for the opportunity to listen and be inspired. For a list of reason, I have pulled back from a routine creative for the past couple of years. Seeing your daily practice on a new platform and today hearing your gratitude list moves me.
Happy that it moved you. Interesting to try to imagine your list to pull back. I feel like when I pull back from creative practice I feel sick and unbalanced. The routine grounds me in a way that few other things do. So many other routines bore and numb me, the art routine feels like turning on an engine. Thanks again for commenting. Glad that we can chat this way.
Hey @dickiecox I think demographics and trends are changing on UA-cam. Older (middle/late middle age) folks like us are increasingly starting to vlog here. Maybe a kind of aging out/gentrification, like what happened on Facebook. I'd watch a vlog from you , if you want to take the plunge.
So great to read that @dickiecox. Letting freak flags fly can be a beacon and a strange attractor. So happy to have a face I am fond of to which I can direct future monologues. How have you been?
I am well. Been in a creative lull. I appreciate your previous commentary about being a recovering academic. Resonates with me as I momentarily reflect on that lull.
As a self-professed weirdo, I appreciate your discussion of and search for the novel and strange. For me the strange bears fruit for lateral thinking and exploration beyond the obvious and known.
I am inspired. Excited to dig in and keep watching.
It is I, dataanxiety of tumblr again. This one was even better! It reminds me of Second Life and tumblr. The multi-colored squares toward the end were very good.
It gets more exciting about half way through! It is I, dataanxiety of tumblr.
love it. the record player with the font getting caught on the needle!!! wheres that from?
Great question. Not sure of the original but stumbled onto it as a GIF on Tumblr.
