An experimental art vlog.
Grid patterns are mutating.
Introducing progressive scaling and rotation to the truchet program. Also wave shapes have been added as a tile option.I STILL feel like I haven't exhausted the possibilities of this program.....and it keeps getting more complex. Will need to tweak many things, but I am intrigued about where this is heading. However a software developer from Japan recently reached out about working together. We'll see where the project goes. Made with #processing and some help from #chatgpt. I’d be very interested in suggestions, feedback, and comments. Please subscribe for more. If you’re interested in the code, I will eventually post it on Github and Open Processing. #creativecoding #generativedesign #videoart #remix #programming #vlog #vlogger #inprogress #genuary

Quick excerpt output from one of the longest , most complex bit of code I've produced yet. What started as a static setup for one truchet design has developed into a monster of a project. More output video will be coming. This is just a brief preview. Made with #processing and some help from #chatgpt. I’d be very interested in suggestions, feedback, and comments. This started as a prompt for yesterday's "Genuary" challenge. The theme was textile (for public transit) I think I got carried away. It became something else. The color scheme was inspired by the painter Paul Kremer and I kept thinking about the simplicity of Ellsworth Kelly. It can take considerable time and frustration to get this "simple" and complex at the same time. Made with #processing a...

Shocking amount of time to make something this simple.... trying to get timing and movement and color to my satisfaction. Here it is....not going to sweat this any longer. Made with #processing and some help from #chatgpt. I’d be very interested in suggestions, feedback, and comments. Please subscribe for more. Day 4 of #genuary has the theme of black on black. There is certainly graduated grey in this sketch but I'm pretty happy with it and think it's close enough to the theme. Made with #processing and some help from #chatgpt. I’d be very interested in suggestions, feedback, and comments. Please subscribe for more. Day two of "Genuary", the theme is layers on layers on layers. I decided to iterate on an older sketch of mine that can generate collages. I added tints, pause, and a few other features. Made with #processing and some help from #chatgpt. I’d be very interested in suggestions, feedback, and comments. Please subscribe for more. As the first day of the New Year today it's a great day to use the #genuary coding prompt to steer my programming. Today's prompt is only horizontal ar vertical lines. I decided to combine that with my current painting / portrait coding and ended up with something like the scan lines of old CRT televisions. Happy with these results. Made with #processing and some help from #chatgpt. I'd be very...
color Effects and Noise video filters with Processing.

Color Effects and Noise video filters with Processing. One in a long line of experiments playing with image and video manipulation programmatically. Lots of other experiments to share. I'm happiest in this one with the noise effect that simulates film grain to some degree. There are also sepia, black and white, greyscale, pastel color palettes, and a number of lofi effects. Made with #processin...

I'd love a video describing how this works!
Really glad that you're interested in this. I will talk about it/ demo it in the next week or so. Right now I'm neck deep in pushing this code even further.......and it is absolutely warping my brain. I feel like coding augmented by ChatGPT is both making things more ordered, ambitious, and flowing.....but also more chaotic, complex, and weird. That's kind of an exciting space that I'd love to talk about.
github.com/JustinLincoln/Advanced-Truchet. for code. Would love help developing it further AND organizing it. Kind of a Frankenstein monster..

this channel is crazy
Thanks , I guess. I'll take that as a positive.
This was so fun to put on and rest my eyes to! I kept imagining that one circle was "winning" or beating the others, but in the end it didn't matter...
Thanks. I can understand those feelings. I wonder if I could turn this into a low stakes game.
@@justinlincoln That'd be a neat concept.
The grids and waves really came together to make something trippy!
Thanks.
They’re randomized but also use some condition checks to make sure there are no overlaps or breaks in logic. Glad you like them. I figure that I am at least 80% done in this project.
That was interesting, and the silence made it feel sad in a way. Maybe there was just something about a lot of activity but no sound...
I used to put noise soundtracks on my videos. I've been rather silent lately. Maybe bringing sound back into my practice soon.
@@justinlincoln *Sounds* good
Those were some cool layouts 👍 Were they part of a set pattern, or generated randomly?
It's very random but uses constraints and checks to make sure there is no overlap or breaking of the margins.
@@justinlincoln That's cool!
Those were some trippy and satisfying color drops 😮
Thanks. Touch Designer is so good at handling this kind of thing. Noise and feedback are so essential to this kind of thing and TouchDesigner handles those things so well.
I'm experimenting with Processing and Grok (from xAI) right now and it's a ton of fun. That gradient demo is really cool!
Thanks, I'll have to check out Grok. Thanks for the tip. I just followed your channel.
@@justinlincoln Oh awesome! I hope you enjoy what you see there, and if not, feel free to unsub. I know it's pretty random.
Wow this was trippy! I haven't seen pixels manipulated quite like that before, and the music was something else too.
The images use a Shader by Adam Ferriss brought into Processing. Adam has shared his shaders in Github. The sound was made with a Teenage Engineering PO-35 (Speak) Glad you liked it.
That was trippy! My mind couldn't decide if each of the shapes was 2D or 3D, and I liked the gradual color changes 👍
It is 3D. I like the 2D/3D ambiguity.
What’s the MIDI controller you’re using?
Korg nanoKontrol Studio Mobile MIDI controller. It can use Bluetooth.....or I can connect to my lightning port with the right cable..
Snell is Lionel Snell aka Ramsey Dukes.
At moments it looks like a black and white tartan
Thanks Sharon. Glad you liked it.
Nice one Justin 8^)))
Thanks Walter. I've enjoyed the direction of your recent work too.
hmmm, had to trim out some material due to a copyright claim. Interesting to find that UA-cam allows this as an automated option now ....currently in process.
I think of the scrolling backdrop (via Tumblr archives) as a representation of the insides of my head. Random associations. I also think some of my favorite vlogs have a playful connection with viewers. On another front isn't unalienated work a form of play?
Initiating a positive connection for play/work via comment. The scrolling is mesmerizing and reminds me of days digging through microform.
😂
Thanks for the shout out. I am gratitude for the opportunity to listen and be inspired. For a list of reason, I have pulled back from a routine creative for the past couple of years. Seeing your daily practice on a new platform and today hearing your gratitude list moves me.
Happy that it moved you. Interesting to try to imagine your list to pull back. I feel like when I pull back from creative practice I feel sick and unbalanced. The routine grounds me in a way that few other things do. So many other routines bore and numb me, the art routine feels like turning on an engine. Thanks again for commenting. Glad that we can chat this way.
Hey @dickiecox I think demographics and trends are changing on UA-cam. Older (middle/late middle age) folks like us are increasingly starting to vlog here. Maybe a kind of aging out/gentrification, like what happened on Facebook. I'd watch a vlog from you , if you want to take the plunge.
So great to read that @dickiecox. Letting freak flags fly can be a beacon and a strange attractor. So happy to have a face I am fond of to which I can direct future monologues. How have you been?
I am well. Been in a creative lull. I appreciate your previous commentary about being a recovering academic. Resonates with me as I momentarily reflect on that lull.
As a self-professed weirdo, I appreciate your discussion of and search for the novel and strange. For me the strange bears fruit for lateral thinking and exploration beyond the obvious and known.
I am inspired. Excited to dig in and keep watching.
It is I, dataanxiety of tumblr again. This one was even better! It reminds me of Second Life and tumblr. The multi-colored squares toward the end were very good.
It gets more exciting about half way through! It is I, dataanxiety of tumblr.
love it. the record player with the font getting caught on the needle!!! wheres that from?
Great question. Not sure of the original but stumbled onto it as a GIF on Tumblr.
