Comic Asides: Mac (Pilot, 1995) - NB: beginning missing from this recording (VHS sourced)
Comic Asides: Mac
This is a funny one-off programme - though for anyone sensitive about Scottish / English relations, probably best to give it a miss!

BBC Two England, 1 September 1995 21.30
The third of four one-off comedy pilots. Mac. A rabid nationalist and self-appointed saviour of Scotland, Mac is driven to despair when his brother Findlay seems set to hire an Englishman to run the family business.

Blue Peter late 1980s: Roadford Reservoir
I’m 54 and he was my favourite person on the tele when I was little in the 70s Thanks for the memories
What an all round entertainer
Hey, it’s Bet Lynch lol
Dreadful.
A bit of a disjointed comment to make perhaps, but the CBBC clip at the start is most likely from Friday 10th January 1986. The lineup of programmes (listed for that afternoon) kicking off with Count Me In at 3:55pm, followed by Heathcliff, George's Marvellous Medicine, Top Cat (Boss Cat), Newsround and rounding off with Grange Hill at ten past 5. A completely right-angled bit I can perhaps pop in here is that a transmission breakdown probably from the late film that night can be found here ua-cam.com/video/QcZMOyW1C38/v-deo.htmlsi=iFFN4AkHq9ds5NCl
One of my childhood mates!!!
This man was my childhood…… playschool, heads and tails, bod to name but a few
Ahh, the all white suit and the brilliant 147. Kirk Stevens. Love the light wood table, nice if they had one on telly these days. Jack Karnehm "GET IN, MARVELLOUS!! SUPER!! GOOD HEAVENS ABOVE REX!!.
& the announcement mid match too lol
Wow what scenes Just epic Unbelievable
00:31-03:41 What a splendid voice - How on earth did Derek Griffiths not have a recording career (?????)
All we got was 12 minutes. Then the video stopped before all of the questions were asked. I say that we were left in the lurch. Very disappointing.
Utterly wonderful! Thank you.
Love these to 😂
The landlord of the Winchester
was DG still standing in 1986?
He died on January 3, 1986. The whole 3rd series had been recorded, but the BBC cancelled it. However, Dustin's family convinced it to air it, after all.
I didn't know he could do that many characters. I remember him in Look and Read during my childhood.
They're all fellas. Funny that.
Phyllis and Percy - legends 😆
Wow good to stumble on this legend...... Thanks Derek for being in my child hood....... You are still the main man....... God bless you xx
This guy was the black Kenny Everett, let no-one say different.

Love this and have it on VHS but not great quality. Do you have the first half as this is half way through? Thanks for posting. Great memories!
Arthur Mullard, eh? That didn't age well...
Did you come here via Creamguide as well? If there was a topic for being an absolute bastard on Mastermind he would have scored full marks.
Loved this 🤣😭💜💜💜
Love big Frank
easyjet all the way 2 SLOUGH
Derek reminds me of Bet Lynch in that blonde wig.

Brilliant. Loved the final couple of mins. White magic!
Frank and Angie could have been a great couple.
Hi - this edition of the Saturday Picture Show is believed to missing from all known archives, including the BBC's. The classic television organisation Kaleidoscope has been searching for lost British tv since 1988. You can see on their website this edition listed as missing - www.tvbrain.info/tv-archive?showname=saturday+picture+show&type=lostshow - would you be willing to loan the tape or supply the digital copy to them please? If so can you email Chris Perry at info@kaleidoscopepublishing.co.uk Thanks!!
22nd July 1983
I hope not, cos he was still alive then.😂

OK Just seen this, Where did tbis come from with the comic performing talents of Derek Griffiths from stage and screen Play School Hi Summer Don't drink the waterand on stage in Bruces Forsyth travelling music show which I saw in the late 70s
Bit of background on DG here: showreel.thetvroom.com/talent-profiles/3234/griffiths-derek/
Cross Your heart Bra ad is an American ad dubbed into an English accent
I never knew Dustin played Phyllis here.
Cheesy grin at the end! 😂
The episode of 'Magnum p.i.' being broadcast (always billed as simply 'Magnum' in the UK), is the late second season episode 'The Elmo Ziller Story'. LWT/Thames were generally some way behind on the series compared to the other regions, with it being felt the series never really took off in the London regions so much ratings-wise, typically being shuffled 'round the timeslots for shorter runs as a result. #uselessinformation
Looks like some time in 1992.
before the saturday superstore clip, anymore footage of les dennis and dustin gee?
Sorry no - all the footage I have of the Laughter Show and the Saturday Picture Show is on the two clips uploaded. It is a shame, I wish I had the entire shows, but unfortunately there's no more on the tape...
Jappasnapper
