While the dance of the peacocks to the beats of the rumbling rain clouds and the music of bees shows the setting of the temple at Tiru Veezhi Mizhalai. Just as a king would rewards the artists, the kondrai (golden laburnum) flowers like gold coins fall into the Kāndal (tiger lily) flowers which look like the needy palms of the receiver. #choreography #bharatanatyam #learnings #learningvideos #t...

We live in times when, as independent artists, we work towards supporting our creative expression since patronage is not what fuels dance production. When we present work in front of people who have chosen to spend the evening with us while they could be doing a hundred other things, they show a sense of genuine appreciation for one’s work. I conceived this piece to look at the audience eye to ...

I've been trained in Kathak since I was 3, and started learning Bharatnatyam only at my ripe age of 38. These beautiful grammatical explanations of your videos are helping me a lot alongside learning from my Guru online .. Thank you so much

Dear Karuna, You are doing an amazing job. I am eagerly waiting for your video about Periya theermanam adavu and its intricacies inorder to learn it and master it. Thank you so much. I have another request to you. Could you also do a video series about Korvai adavus (Tha thai tham...) and how to perfect and master them?? It would be very helpful. Thanks once again.

Valuable art person.
Superb mam thank you so much 💕💕
Thankyu ma'am 🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻
My daughter likes your teaching
You completely skip going over the part where you are bouncing up and down on your knees. You go into extensive details over some things and completely skipped over that part. Which is the hardest part for me. Overall this is a great series though. But I think you could at least show it on this practice video.
Thank you for your feedback. That portion is a Mandi Adavu which is a regular Adavu so I didn’t delve into details. Might make a video just to work with the Mandi Adavu..

Thank you.
Yes
Thank you! This was very helpful as that is one aspect I am working on. I would also like to understand in any abhinaya work, how do you keep those dialogues keep going in your head to make it not look like an exaggeration? Is there a way you would recommend for an effective practice on abhinaya?
I think you can work in two phases. One is to think of the dialogues the other is to move with music. Both these are in fact only intermediate steps. I personally feel that it is when you go one step deeper and actually define what the character’s state of being and state of feeling is and that would lead to the dialogue that they speak. So if you internalise the former two, the dialogue will be natural. Hope that helps.
Wonderful perspective! Slaute to your thoughts of bharthanatyam to all. Became a fan of you, Mdm. Karuna. Wish you all success. I never learned bharthanatyam in my life. I am really inspired to learn now. Thank you❤
Thank you so much 🙂
keep up the good work mam thankful for this
Thanks a lot

Super madam
My mother who has a weak optive nerve is doing this exercises. She fees better ! What a beautiful art form this is. Every movement of the body is only.for the good !
That is wonderful to hear. Thank you for sharing.
Hi Karuna, I really enjoyed this one. An interesting observation for me is the 'palli-arai-sevai' you mention. I know that this particular ritual is carried out in the Tirupura-sundari-amman-sannidhi at Tiruvanmiyur. I have watched it many a time as a child with wonder and excitement😊😊
Thank you so much
You're most welcome
Thanks a lot❤
Always welcome
Thanks Mam 🙏for showering your knowledge and wisdom of Bharatnatyam on us 🙏🌷
So nice of you
Nice love it
Thanks!
so grateful for your content that always places enough emphasis on the alignment of the body during movement and guides us towards healthy and safe movement
Really appreciate your message. It is such an amazing journey to work with one’s own body. When we respect and listen to it, it reciprocates 😊
Thank you so much for this detail explanation.
Glad it was helpful!
you are a real karuna sagari amma🙏🙏🙏
Thank you ☺️
I have a question. Alidham in natyashastra is defined in a different way , it is mentioned that there should be a gap of 5 hands btw both the foot .. bharta further explains that alidham is used to describe usage of weapons, fighting and defending so it is quite clear that practically also the foot will be far from each other
Thanks for the observation. Yes theoretical texts are observations of a practical art form. It is best for a practitioner to look at the practical applications and then connect it back to the relevant text.
@@bhaktinatya so correct , thank you
i always enjoy your videos and your calm grace and strength. thank you ma'am
Thank you very much. Much appreciated 😊
Are these excercises for begginers. I don't use to do excercise and wouldn't like to hurt mi ankles or knee.☹
The warm up stretches can be done my beginner Bharatanatyam students. But if you have any particular physical ailment, it is important to seek out professional opinion.
