    How would you recommend standing out even more to the ducks with a cutdown call now that more people are using them? I know a lot of guys that are buying them now and using them in the same areas I hunt. Thanks Kirk!

      The best way to stand out is to practice and go to where you will be calling and practice there when you can. I cover a few tips and tricks but this video on trolling is good. As i say there. Once they hone in on your call they will fly past others to where you are. ua-cam.com/video/aB_U1o1rJh4/v-deo.html and ua-cam.com/video/4nuIEvyFki8/v-deo.html also rhythm ua-cam.com/video/zjgJfGWbRr8/v-deo.html

    How can you compare a decoy that you havnt abused for 5 years but only saw it on ad and bought them. They look good but most do out of box. Avians have held up great. I’ll be curious to see if dive bombs look that good after 7 years of abuse.

      I appreciate the thought. I'm just expressing why I'm switching and what attracted me to them. I've used lots of decoys in my over 40 years of duck hunting and right now thats the Dive Bombs. You're right that I've used the Avian-X for 5 years and are passing them over to a friend of mine. I should post a follow-up in five years. I'm also trying Dive Bombs fully flocked decoys. I'm tough on stuff. So, yes we will see how they hold up.

    I made 4" droppers that I crimp with double ferrules to my decoys. Just a fixed loop. Then since I hunt widely varying conditions in mn from 10feet of water to 2" of water choked with weeds, I have rigs made up in a few different lengths I just loop to loop connect to my decoy loops. In shallow water with lots of weeds I use 1oz weights on 1ft of coated cable. In deeper water I'll run 4-6 oz on 4-10ft of coated cable. Depending on where I'm heading since the areas are a couple hundred miles apart I just swap my rigs to match my conditions. Man those 1oz weights on a foot of cable are the ticket for hike in areas. Lightweight and they come out of my refuge runner pack without ever tangling. Just grab and give them a chuck over the shoulder and keep going til the bag is empty.

    After letting it go are you able to reel/pull, bring it back to you and then let it go again?

    • @kirkmccullough280
      @kirkmccullough280 2 місяці тому

      Absolutely. It works as a shaker line and a jerk line. so, if you need to make some splashes for the ducks to hear you can do that and then pull it back. That's why i have the pull line as a float line it keeps it from tangling.
