It amazes me to hear an Adventist describe the 'church' as being anything like a 'family', let alone a better family than 'genetic' ! A.T. Jones was so very rejected by the Adventist 'family' (and still is) in Battle Creek that he finally left and did some work at the SDA church downstream in Kalamazoo, where he was finally buried with his wife's family, just west of the Catholic hospital where Annamae McLeod -- the mother of Merikay McLeod-Silver -- once worked just across the K-zoo River a short distance from the old K-zoo SDA church. Of course, when Merikay -- like A.T. Jones a century before her -- went to work at the Pacific Press as a 'woman' editor, they not only refused her a 'head of household' wage, but her own local SDA Congregation disfellowshipped her for her 'cheek' at assuming she was worth the $ame as a man. A couple of years ago I asked Merikay if she remembered Ron Wyatt at the K-zoo SDA church back just after I was born. She did. Ron Wyatt is a 3rd member of the SDA church 'family' that was treated like trash by SDA leaders right up until he died of painful cancer in 1999. Like A.T. Jones and Merikay, Ron Wyatt's work and fame also closely involved 'National Sunday Laws'. Ron not only handled those 'stone tablets' that Ellen, in 1BC 1109 says will be shown to the world at the time of 'NSLs', but he also found the complete Crucifixion scene including a 'Sanctuary' never yet studied by SDAs, just after 'Glacier View'. For 21 years, now, I have been trashed, mocked and even called names by leading SDA figures for trying to tell them about recent neuroscience discoveries that show that that Crucifixion/Sanctuary scene that Ron Wyatt found in 1982 is a 'theatrical' illustration of that 'born again' 'by beholding' process that Jesus tried to explain to an amazed 'Teacher in Israel' . . . the local SDA pastor said I am 'autistic' ! ? My cruel narcissistic non-SDA father by 'genetics' finally even admitted as he was dying in 1987 that, 'You're a smart young man and don't let anyone tell you otherwise !' But in the 'Family of Christ', I've been told, 'You have a sick God !', to 'Save it for Heaven.', you are crazy 'Brother D' that Ellen wrote about as thinking he had something of importance for SDAs when he did not, 'Go waste someone else's time !' (By the webmaster of the site run by E.J. Waggoner's grandchildren.) Even Herbert Douglass refused to speak with me in 2010 when I simply called the phone number he put on his website . . . clearly SDA leaders have not yet been 'born again' into the church 'family' that Daniel Duda is dreaming about, here.

Powerful testimony from John

Thank you, Pastor John. For opening my eyes and causing me - for the first time EVER, to look at the maps in the back of my Bible! I have seen (for myself) that, Jesus DID NOT TAKE the most direct route to Galilee from where He was! He was “compelled” to go to Shechem. Totally out of his way! To sit and wait for “someone” to give Him water at Jacob’s Well. This is enlightening, and I shall share this “new” information!

I also liked that it was brought out that John was strategic in his giving of Jesus’ signs, that they did not need His physical touch or presence. Mind you, the feeding of the 5,000 may be the one exception. These lessons were posted later than usual, I was concerned that the series had finished! I went to the website and discovered that these are also available as a podcast! That’s fabulous! So I listened there and then have come here to comment. Thank you for your ministry in this medium. As you say, a shame that the other stories could not be fully addressed - John the Baptist especially, but also Jesus’ rejection at home… Notwithstanding those, these lessons are DEEP! Good discussion What version of the bible is used to read the texts?

Deuteronomy 23:24-25 allows for people to take food from someone else’s field - the Pharisees were nitpicking on this because of the Sabbath. Jesus was making the point of compassion before custom and relief before ritual. Their rules were not biblical.

I kept wondering about the loss of the Ark. If that went missing with Zachariah, what was in the Most Holy Place in the renewed temple in Jerusalem? Was there anything in there at all? Was Jesus the only representation of the love of God when He was there?

Could not the Two Witnesses be 1. The Scriptures and 2. The Church. Both are needed to bear witness. Is not our Commission to bear witness of Jesus Christ? In both Mathew and Revelation (actually in all 4 Gospels, Jesus tells us that we (the church) will be a witness to Him because of the persecution we will endure for His sake. We don’t need to separate the scriptures into Old and New, we all know that it’s one authority. It is one witness. That leaves another Witness to draw attention to the first one (as Jesus did when He was speaking in John to the Jews). Or to explain the scriptures to an enquiring mind - (Phillip and the Ethiopian) - Two Witnesses!

This study, already is so deep! I’ve been participating in a nightly SS Lesson study and we have had so many discussions tonight (Monday) about whether the casting out was physical (as is implied in paragraph 3) or situational (being ignored, excluded, rebuffed) until they didn’t feel welcomed anymore. This was then questioned, because Satan went to God’s Council meeting to discuss what was happening on earth and his subsequent attacks on Job… We searched out, in EGW Writings website and found “Bible Handbook”, that stated Satan could still appear in the counsels of The Lord, at the gates of heaven. Page 105.1… so then, does that mean that there was a barrier of sorts keeping him out, or just the Word of God. Jesus? We didn’t resolve it, because even the Word from Jesus is (can be) physical.

I like the sharing at the end of this session. What a beautiful way to end the quarter! ❤🙏

To support my comment below that "Only Jesus Christ has successfully met both of these expectations that God's all righteousness demands." I Peter 2:22 "Who committed no sin, nor was any deceit found in His mouth." NASB. This Bible verse verifies/confirms that Jesus Christ was and is infallible. He never committed one sin in His entire life (thoughts, words and actions) and never made one mistake during His lifetime and only He is eternally/everlastingly infallible, along with God The Father and God The Holy Spirit. God's Word, The Bible addresses Jesus Christ as "That Holy Thing." Luke 1:35 "And the angel answered and said unto her, The Holy Ghost shall come upon thee, and the power of the Highest shall overshadow thee: therefore also That Holy Thing which shall be born of thee shall be called the Son of God." KJV.

Psalm 145:17 "The LORD is righteous in all his ways, and holy in all his works." Without a blood atoning sacrifice for sin, God's all righteousness demands both: (1) A sinless nature Psalm 51: 5, 6 " Behold, I was shapen in iniquity; and in sin did my mother conceive me. Behold, thou desirest truth in the inward parts:..." KJV and (2) Sinless behavior (thoughts, words and actions) with not one mistake for a lifetime. Only Jesus Christ has successfully met both of these expectations that God's all righteousness demands. Romans 3:23 "For all have sinned, and come short of the glory of God." KJV After Adam and Eve sinned , Genesis 3:15, God promised the Messiah, who had to be fully God and fully human being. The only perfect sacrifice was Jesus Christ. After Adam and Eve sinned, God sent Christ The Messiah to pay for the sins of Adam and Eve and all of their descendants. The reason why The Son of God had to become a human being, fully human, is because God's law requires that in Hebrews 9:22 "...and without the shedding of blood there is no forgiveness." NASB. Here we see in the plan of salvation, all of the three persons of the One God of The Bible are at work. God The Father sends His Son in Genesis 3:15. The Son of God died on the cross, buried three days and three nights in the grave and resurrected on the third day. God The Father and God The Holy Spirit raised to life Jesus Christ on the third day. The Holy Spirit playing the instrumental role in the conception and birth of Jesus Christ. God The Father placed on Jesus Christ all of the sins of all humanity, for all time, on Jesus Christ at the cross. Isaiah 53:6 "But the LORD has caused the iniquity of us all to fall on Him." Jesus Christ paid the sin debt in full of every human being for all time. John the Baptist proclaimed when he saw Jesus Christ, "...Behold, The Lamb of God who takes away the sin of the world!" John 1:29 NASB. "...but now once at the consummation of the ages He has been manifested to put away sin by the sacrifice of Himself." Hebrews 9:26 NASB I Peter 2:24 "and He Himself bore our sins in His body on the cross..." NASB We see the beauty of God The Father, Jesus Christ who is The Son of God and The Son of Man and God The Holy Spirit working together in unison in the plan of salvation! Because of the foregoing facts, only Jesus Christ is the most perfect substitute for all of the sins of the human race.

Regarding the miracles in the early church, in this stage of the world's history, miracles are suspect because Satan is counterfeiting healings, etc. He will present as an angel of light and even as Jesus himself. Genuine miracles are not normally advertised. They are just accepted thankfully.

More people need to watch these videos. Its such good information.

These messages are a total mind shift thanks for bringing this aspect to us. Now it's time for me to dive into it and have my own study.

I have just ‘discovered’ this platform. It is so enlightening, thank you. I have the same thoughts as the African gentleman, who is resident in the UK (& then also the lady who followed his observation). It’s a very Real Problem in Europe: HOW do we share Jesus wi people who don’t feel a need for Him? HOW do we mingle with people that we have little or nothing in common with? HOW do we teach them to observe all things? HOW can they know we are Christians by our love? Ultimately; HOW do we Mingle? This Quarter’s SS Lesson is really intriguing to and challenging for me.

Question: did the mariners not know about the rout of Sennacherib and the loss of his entire army at the hand of God in defence of His name and of Jerusalem? That would have given them cause to fear the God of the Hebrews.

I appreciate these discussions very much. My take in intercessory prayer is this: God uses no coercion and is thus constrained in the war with Satan. However, when we intercede in prayer, it gives Him permission to override current circumstances. In the final analysis, it is still the choice of the person we are praying for whether they follow the promptings of the Holy Spirit or not.

I can't help it but, Dr. Paulien's voice reminds me of late actor George Kennedy's. I have to try harder not to get distracted during the lesson.

Can you imagine this great disciple of Christ did these presentations in 1984 and we are still here? I joined the SDA church in 1984 and just recently discovered Graham Maxwell and now Tim Jennings. Are we entering the time of trouble now?
