Die Suite für 2 Violinen, Violoncello und Klavier linke Hand opus 31 entstand im Auftrag des Pianisten Paul Wittgenstein, Sohn des Stahlmagnaten Karl Wittgenstein und Bruder des Philosophen Ludwig Wittgenstein. Paul, der im Ersten Weltkrieg seinen rechten Arm verlor, gab Dutzende von Klavierwerken für die linke Hand bei einigen der führenden Komponisten seiner Zeit in Auftrag oder ließ sich auf andere Weise davon inspirieren. Neben der Suite schrieb Korngold sein Klavierkonzert für die linke Hand (1923) für Wittgenstein

The Suite for 2 Violins, Violoncello and Piano left hand opus 31 was written in response to a commission by the pianist Paul Wittgenstein, son of steel tycoon Karl Wittgenstein and brother of philosopher Ludwig Wittgenstein. Paul, who lost his right arm in World War I, commissioned or otherwise inspired dozens of left-hand piano works from some of the leading composers of his day. In addition to the Suite, Korngold wrote his Piano Concerto for the left hand (1923) for Wittgenstein

Of course, all of them are wonderful musicians, with wonderful instruments. But hearing Korngold makes me remember why I am a devout romantic.
Umwerfend! Das stellt an Dichte so manches Streichquartett in den Schatten! Für mich reichen die beiden durchaus ans Alban Berg Quartett heran.
Was für ein schöner gleichberechtigter Dialog voll Wärme und Temperament! Bravo Ania, bravo Sophie, bravo Ludwig!

So nice to hear her perform again. I have listened to Sophie perform with both piano and violin and am a real fan from Canada. This work is so seldom performed, it's probably the first time I have hear it played. Her gentle nature shows through in her performances.
