      @Steven-b5n I think 1 that comes to mind is a story of Earnhardt and Mark Martin. I understand the entire thing isn't scripted, but some situations were intentional, but as Earnhardt put it, He just wanted to rattle their cage.

      @jk-kr8jt Do we put the blame on Sterling Marlin?

    • @jk-kr8jt
      @jk-kr8jt 23 години тому

      No, I don't blame Sterling at all. If anyone is to blame, I don't think anyone is, it would be Dale. I'm a huge Dale Earnhardt fan, since '79. I watched that race from the Reno Hilton and was shouting at the TV, "stop blocking, you're going to wreck". As soon as the checkers flew, I grabbed my bag and headed to the airport. Didn't find out about the tragic loss until about 3:00AM. Sterling was just racing for position.

    • @HoldMyBluntNascar
      @HoldMyBluntNascar 23 години тому

      @jk-kr8jt I remember when he died, and a lot of people who weren't Nascar fans were in shock. They talked about it at school and work, and I remember the homegrown memorials put up around local tracks. This was the beginning to the end of what was going to become a wild year of 2001 and the end to many other great things we once loved. Nascar races used to be so alive, and the fans were more loyal than any other sport. I'm a collector of a lot of things, and the 70s had so much creativity but also the end of "Made In America" and I'm also glad to have grown up with our greatest generation of a lot of things.

      @djmohab2 could you elaborate a bit more on this? I'm trying to see the connection. I feel like this and the Austin Dillion incident are far apart, seeing how this wasn't a GWC double file wreck fest. Seems more like there were about 4 things going on at once, and it made everything chaotic. My other question is, do you think the old race back to the flag rule after a caution flag had anything to do with this crazy finish?

    • @djmohab2
      @djmohab2 21 годину тому

      @HoldMyBluntNascar Earnhardt ran through drivers and injured them even (Darrell at 1995 Winston for example), and this sport worships him. Logano has bulldozed drivers as well as Hamlin. It was criminal what happened to AD3.

      @djmohab2 ok got it. Point taken. I made a comment earlier about it being a show, so would you say Nascar is equivalent to the WWE (F) entertainment events, and Earnhardt was just one of those deals? People tell stories about drivers going out there and intentionally putting on a show, and Earnhardt liked to push the limit on some of those "intentional" dramatic events. 🙄

      @marksamuel5347 you can thank 24/7 social media and the very young talent. If you can really call it talent. I think we are going to see a shift in the way celebrities and athletes conduct themselves all around in the near future on social media. It's not just Nascar that has this problem either . Drivers need to stick to representing sponsors instead of going on Netflix and acting like foul-mouthed soy boys.I don't listen to the scanner anymore because of the same issues and the language is just too much for my son. Ricky Rudd was right when he said the new generation of drivers just yap about everything. The problem isn't Nascar, but it's very lame rossiter of drivers who the common people don't relate with. @timburks3806 lol Richard Petty and Jimmie Johnson are talentless hacks. Just give me one example of Petty having to drive a car into a victory. Wins back in Pettys priime came unchallenged most of the time. It's the same thing with JJ as well. I'm not saying these guys are not statistically good on paper, but if you were to have a room full of nascar fans who their top 3 drivers are of all time, Petty and Johnson would not be the first choice. Maybe I'm wrong about it, but I don't think so from other times I've brought up the same exact scenario. If you were to mention 3 all-time top drivers, who would be your picks?

    • @HoldMyBluntNascar
      @HoldMyBluntNascar День тому

      @timburks3806 Earnhardt sr , Jeff Gordon, and Kyle Busch are my top 3 all times. Kyle Larson is TBD but could potentially outrank Jeff Gordon, in my opinion. It's hard to outrank KFB when the dude has everything marked across the board in every series. I also considered Mark Martin, but I'd put him in my top 5 all day. I find it hard to consider the Talladega gang or even the Labonte brothers in my top, even though they had notable careers. If JJ was one of the greatest drivers, he would go out and finish much better than he is currently. He has no excuse, and if he makes excuses, he should not even be in that ride, regardless of the situationbecausehe is doing more harm than good. @larryreeves what about when a team actually cheats? We don't usually find out until later (cheating before 2008), so do you feel any other type of way about the driver? When I worked in racing, we cheated to appease the major sponsors and not necessarily for a driver. I was involved in multiple championship wins, knowing this. I guess my question is whether it is better to cheat in your face or behind your back? Race manipulation is very real...
