    Im pretty sure theyre not vintage. Cherry bombs m-80s and Silver salutes didnt come with green visco fuse. Visco fuse is a modern invention. The real genuine ones from the 60's and 70's usually had grey fuse.

    • @jacobsrandomvideochannel4586
      @jacobsrandomvideochannel4586 4 дні тому

      @atourdeforce yea they're not vintage, but they contain similar flash charges without antimony (eg cherry 1g, M-80 3g, 2 inch salute 1-2g)

    Aye thanks man, so you keep it round by molding it in your hand for a few minutes then adding another layer? An issue I've run into when I've attempted making these is I put the layer on them set it down to dry then the bottom becomes flatten out. When you seal it the thin strip of cardboard gets wrapped around the fuse and goes into the fuse hole?

    • @jacobsrandomvideochannel4586
      @jacobsrandomvideochannel4586 6 днів тому

      @WilsonBrown144 if your cherry is flattening, you have too much sodium silicate on the cherry, that's why I said to wipe off excess silicate, and for the thin cardboard piece, you use it to paint the silicate on to the fuse hole

      @WilsonBrown144 would be rad, but I ain't gonna mess with that stuff too much for safety reasons since it has 3-4x det velocity of flash powder and can be almost as sensitive as chlorate/aluminum flash impact-wise

      @WilsonBrown144 It's a modern reproduction of a cherry bomb without antimony trisulfide in the flash, the fuse isn't as dark green as an original and burns less vigorously, but the specs (outer diameter, amount of flash and type of casing material) are pretty much the same

      @@WilsonBrown144 yea I figured out how to make em from a book about old firecrackers, idk If I can make a good video about making those as I don't have a tripod or something to hold my phone completely still while I record but I'll get to the gist of making cherry bombs, to start with, get a 1/2" cupset which will make a nice little closed cylinder when combined, fill the 1/2" cupset with flash and then seal the cupset closed with glue, then get sodium silicate and sawdust (might want to make/get some colored sawdust) and then you drench the sealed cupset in sodium silicate then afterwards roll it around in sawdust then roll it with your hands into a round shape (won't be perfectly round for the first few layers untill you get past halfway) and let that layer dry, when dry repeat the step till you get to 0.9 inches with a perfect round shape and then use your colored sawdust to color the cherry bomb on your final layer of sodium silicate, when dry use an awl carefully to punch a hole into the cherry bomb, then use a small drill (3/8") bit to widen the hole (you may use an electric drill but it will increase the chances of an accident so just use the power tool gently) then attach a fuse and seal the fuse onto the cherry bomb with a bit of sodium silicate and colored sawdust, and that's how you can make a close-to-original cherry bomb

      @WilsonBrown144 9 днів тому

      @@jacobsrandomvideochannel4586 A 3/8 inch drill bit seems kind of large for a fuse hole I'd think. I will say that I've seen pretty much every modern reproduction cherry bomb posted to the entire internet. The one in this video I think I'd rate as being the greatest one I've ever seen. Looks exactly like an original. I don't mean to be pushy but I'd really think it would be cool to see a tutorial.

    I got hold of just one M-80 ever, back in the early 70s. I was 12. Set it under a coffee can, lit the fuse, jumped a little ways down the side of the (very steep) hill, and covered my ears with my hands. Wondered what was taking so long. Popped back up over the hill just as a wall of smoke rolled over - never heard it!? Then the domed bottom of the can whizzed by my head. Did a quick head swivel looking for shrapnel. None. Where was the rest of the can, then? Looked up. Saw a teeny tiny cylinder tumbling waaaaayy way up in the sky that gradually got bigger until it landed pretty much where it had taken off. So much entertainment for a buck!

    Are these the REAL ones from the 60's/earlier? The M80 back then was clearly the most powerful as we would constantly demonstrate, launching items from cans to 5 gallon pails. When I was later in training in the US Army, they used M80s against concrete blocks to demonstrate how "tamping" an explosive charge made it much more effective in destroying something like bridge pilings, etc. M80's, cherry bombs, and Ashcans were all waterproof/could be lit/tossed in water...or flushed down a toilet. ;)

We taped together 8 m-80s lit them and ran after the first one went off it blew the other seven all over everywhere we thought we was in war! Funny now but it wasn't back then. 😩

    I love the Flash Salute - wasn’t familiar with those! In the late ‘70s in Oklahoma, we could get M-80s easily enough, but by then they had reduced the powder-charge and they were just a slightly bigger bang than a Black Cat. What you have here looks and sounds like a REAL M-80, pre-1970 - older heads in the family had explained to me what M-80s were originally like 😎👍!
