Art Advice And How To Use It Effectively
Another really helpful video! Thank you 🙏
Glad to hear it was helpful😊
Love how you broke down the process! Super helpful, especially for someone who’s just getting started☺️
Glad it was helpful!
Amazing piece! Such a cool and organized process.
Thank you so much for watching! Having a clear and easy to follow process really helps:)
Hi, thank you for this video, that is the exact problem i'm dealing with now trying to become better, but failing a loooot
Hey, I’m glad to hear that you found it useful! I know that improving is difficult and frustrating at times but every little step makes a difference:)
Stunning piece of art!! 🙌 🔥
Thank you so much 😀
Wow, what a stunning book cover! You're such a talented artist. 🤩
Thank you so much:)
I had the weirdest moment because I'm subscribed to alerts for new Will Wight books, so I got the alert for this book, and then right after it, your email came in and I thought I had hallucinated one of them, haha. This is awesome, congrats :)
Lol, awesome and thanks 😊
Thank you for recording that video. Was really interesting to hear all of that, especially from the perspective from someone who still at the beginning of his art journey
I'm glad to hear that it was helpful!
As usual, thank you for this process and explanation!
Glad it was helpful!
Really nice drawing! And thank you for sharing the process with explanation, deffinetely gave me a bunch of ideas to try out in my works as well
Awesome, glad it was helpful!
I have the same problem, which you've explained on 1:53. I was trying to create art, that is new for me (i'm more into portraits), as i trying to shift into backgrounds, and characters. And successfully got stuck after base of my work was done. I think i'll need to recreate few more of those thumbails or ideas, so i could move on.. Or even start from the scratch and do a better approach.. As usual, thank you for your video, always helps :)
Good to hear that you found the video useful! As I'm sure you know, changing and developing as an artist is very challenging. I noticed with my own work that once I ignored my natural instinct, which is to rush into a final painting, and instead started spending more time at the front end of a project (thumbnails, colour sketches and studies), the better the finished illustration.
@@scarrartist Yeah! Deffinetely, that's what i'm going to aim at that moment, feeling like i've reached a plato that needs to be breached, and to do so i'm surely need to switch that usual way of doing things. Also sketching or thumbailing might be really fun!
Wow, great work! I especially like the main character. This is now one of my fav paintings of yours. Keep it up!
Thank you so much!
Thanks for the video! This is one of the topics i was asking myself recently - how to do that study properly, surely it will come in handy!
I'm glad you liked the video and that you found it useful! Every time I do one of these types of studies I always get something out of it.
Thank you! Very interesting topic to see how it's done
Good to hear that you found it interesting!
Quality content . great wee video + very informative ...
Glad you enjoyed it!
Really nice video, as usual! I do actually need to try this as well, I haven't studied sketches that way.. maybe that could help boost the skill overall, rather than focusing on something different
Thanks and I’m glad to hear that it was helpful in some way. I’ve found that doing creative sketches really does help in pushing the boundaries of my skill level.
Hi, thanks for the new video, really enjoyed it and pretty useful!
Hey, glad you enjoyed it!
When it comes to art creation, it is crucial to remember that it should reflect your personal style, rather than solely relying on others' opinions. Your artwork is skillfully crafted and possesses a captivating, conventional aesthetic. It is advisable to consider others' feedback with a level-headed approach and remain authentic to your own vision. Only heed constructive criticism that can enhance your art, rather than detract from it. Despite my 45 years of age, I still 'find myself striving to perfect my skills in the use of colour in my digital paintings. However, I have developed a good level of proficiency in creating grayscale images that depict form in an almost realistic manner. As an artist, my favourite subject to paint is dragons and dinosaurs, which I enjoy bringing to life through the use of digital tools.
I completely agree that an artist should always stay true to their own vision whilst striving to improve. Thanks for the kind words about my art. Cheers!
You're Welcome:)>
This came out really cool! Well done! ❣
Thank you! 😊
Hi, as i was looking this video, i saw this moment when you said that you've added textural brushes to create more painterly look. So, if i want to have the same sort of natural / paint look, i do need to add those strokes after the work is mostly done or can i combine some standart brushes (or similar to them) with for example - oily ones? That things with textural brushes is still problematic on my works
Hey and thanks for your question. It really depends on what I'm painting and the look I’m going for. If I'm painting something that I'm comfortable with and I want it to look ‘painterly’ then I'll use a textured brush straight away. If the subject matter is more complex then I'll paint most of it with a basic brush and then, on a separate layer, go back over it with a textured brush and erase any areas that aren't working. I hope this was helpful! Is this something that you'd like me to cover in a future video?
@@scarrartist thanks for the reply! Yeah, i was trying to combine both methods, and still trying to find my way with all of this, still a long way to go.. As for future video i'm not sure, your channel in general is what i'm up to mostly: characters + word building (covers / backgrounds / fantasy and sci-fi) and stuff like that, i'll deffinetely will watch anything new :)
Ok, great😊
This came out great! Thank you for sharing your work. ^__^
Thank you!
Hi, thanks for your videos! I'm studying the same'ish characters drawing right now, and those vids are very helpful :)
Hey, really glad to hear you like them and that they were helpful!
This is a precious tutorial, thanks a lot to share your art work 🔥🔥
I’m glad you like it and I hope it helps😊
Just revisited and learnt a bit more from this video thanks !
Glad it was helpful!
A true professional
Thank you!
Amazing work mate
Thanks very much!
this was three months ago, did you hear back from wizards? Also, that blog post from muddycolors, I came across it a few weeks ago, what are the odds that I would hear you mention it here, three months ago in this video? Life is....well it is life, it does get exciting, when things like this happen, I keep going forward with what I am doing because I feel in my gut that I am going in the right direction. I don't know if you ever get that, but it is a good feeling and it has turned up good things in my life. I hope that life is doing the same for you and that you are fulfilling the missions and intentions that are just burning inside you.
Hey, sorry for the late reply and thanks for asking! No, I didn't hear back from Wizards but I'm not that surprised. They have a ton of people sending them samples so understandably they tend to take a while to respond. That is an odd coincidence for sure lol! And the Muddy Colors blog post was gold imo:) I totally get the gut feeling and that's one of the reasons that I'm finally following the path that I know is the right one for me. Keep moving forward with your art and enjoy the challenges as the journey unfolds. Cheers!
This is very inspiring. All the best on your MTG and Wizards journey, I hope you hear back from them.
Sorry for the late reply. Thank you and I'm glad that you enjoyed the video!
Cool :)
Thank you!
Such a beautiful painting, i hope to get this good someday. Congrats on the dicipline
Thank you so much! I hope you found the video helpful.

Great advice and wonderful illustration
I'm glad you enjoyed the video!
Awesome, thank you for this great content! Can you please advise on what kind of tablet do you use? Can you recommend something?
Great, I'm glad you enjoyed it! Absolutely, I'm currently using a Wacom Intuos Pro Large tablet. I particularly like these as they tend to last for a long time, they're responsive and reliable. Before this tablet I used a Wacom intuos 3 for 12 years. As for recommendations, I like Wacom products but they can be a bit pricey. I've heard good things about the XP Pen tablets and also Huion tablets and Kamvas pen displays. Hope this was helpful.
Great Channel! I'll be watching it from now on.
I’m glad to hear that you’re liking the content and welcome to my channel 😊

I'm glad you enjoyed the video and welcome to my channel!
This was useful in so many ways. I'm in the process of getting better and this kind of videos are a goldmine to me, keep doing them!
Happy to hear that this was useful. Back in the day I wished someone had told me some of these thing's and so I'm hoping to help artists to move forward:)
Thank you for the insight! ^__^
Hope it was helpful!
Very cool! I’m curious, how ergonomic is your setup - and has that helped or prevented you from painting more? Maybe this could be a fun video topic!
Thanks! I’m currently using a Wacom intuos pro large which is supported by a tablet stand, a MacBook Pro and a 27” monitor. I’ve found this setup to be fairly ergonomic and has allowed me to work for most of the day. I’m looking into getting a standing desk. I can definitely creat a video of my setup in the future.
it's funny, I was thinking near the start of the video that I liked the dark space under the ribs.
Cool! Happy to hear that I’m not the only one:)
thank you im a 15 year old artist and hopefully I get to do the same too in my art career in the future
I’m glad to hear that you found the video useful. Feel free to let me know if there’s anything you’d like me to cover in any upcoming videos.
