    Here's a handy tip: If your heat shrink is slightly too small, stick a pair of needle nose pliers in it and pull the handles apart to expand it. Often, you can get a temporary 10% additional diameter. Usually just enough extra to make it slip over whatever was a tight fit.

      Depends on the cell. On each cell has a number for example 802648. You need to find the datasheet for that particular cell. For example: maximum voltage the battery can be charged up to. Most common value is 4.2V for a 3.7V battery. I know strange right a 3.7V can in some cases be 4.2V. The next one is the cut off voltage. You are using your battery and as you go the voltage drops and drops. If it drops bellow certain value your cell is no good. Common value is 2.8V but some cells can go lower to 2.5V. At 2.8V your battery is out of juice, if you go lower you will damage it and most likely would not be able to charge it up. And another one is how fast you can discharge the battery, i.e how much current can you take out if in any given time. It could be 400mA and also could be 5 Amps. Depends on the battery. And last but not least the BMS should be for this specific type of battery i.e. its chemistry. You can't charge a nickel metal hydride battery with lipo charger. Good luck and be careful.

    I took apart a vape pen that I found in the parking lot, and that sensor had puzzled me to kn end. I was sure it was a microphone... I can't believe that this (and the Li rechargeable battery) is disposable. What a waste ... By the way, my guess for the reason why the LED is delayed - it's supposed to look like the glow of a cigarette that has that delay when you drag on it.

    they must be banned internationally. There is so much pointless toxic waste after them. Lithium in the batteries contaminates the ecosystem, and even we will feel one day when a war comes and we have to drink from wells. In Ukraine people did it.

    After breaking open several sensors, they're all similar, with a diaphragm, conductive on one side. It would be nice to make it into an electret or capacitor microphone, though unfortunately you cannot connect to both the diaphragm and its fixed "plate" without opening and thereby destroying the vape sensor capsule. As I don't smoke, I have no idea how e-cigs work for their consumer use!

    • @conundrum2007

    • @lessbutbetter9485
      @lessbutbetter9485 Рік тому

      Hey Britt, the soldering iron in the video is TS100. You can find it on amazon, ebay or aliexpress. It is a good soldering iron, but for small packages like resistors, caps and MCUs. If you are soldering something with big ground planes or large wires, you will need something beefier. It also requires a 12-24V adaptor for power and usually it doesn't come with one. Note that soldering iron is one factor of many. You will need the correct solder and flux. Also you will need to set the correct temperature and use the correct tip for your soldering iron. Take a look at Pace instructional videos on soldering (search for "pace basic soldering" here in UA-cam). The videos are old, but man they explain the fundamental really good. After that revise your technique, maybe your soldering iron is just fine and the cause of your problems is something else. Cheers and good luck!

    • @lessbutbetter9485
      @lessbutbetter9485 Рік тому

      Hey Sen, those SMD are quite small for a cube. From what I have seen on the internet people usually wire through hole LED together to form the cubes. The Surface Mounted Device Light Emitting Diode (SMD LED) might be better for lets say some kind of a ring or bracelet, something with a substrate. A great choice to polish those soldering iron skills.
