Develop Your Drum Chops and Dynamics Quick & Easy
Building drum chops doesn’t have to be complicated, especially when developing twitch muscles. Tap builder is a relaxing exercise that works on your chops, dynamics, technique consistency, and timing all at once.
It forces you to pay attention to your groupings, especially the odd groupings, making your timing muscle memory stronger. Its one of my favorite exercises to rep with students.

    Out of curiosity. How do you count to 7? 1,2,1,2,1,2,3, straight 1,2,3,4,5,6,7, or you don't count and just feel it?

    While I can play something like californication with ghost notes etc., that's really tough when you dont have complete control over your left hand lol Definitely gonna get myself a practice pad and beat away on it till my left hand improves. Edit: btw, you're an amazing teacher. You just make it make sense.

    The thumb can come off if using a rear fulcrum.

    • @NoahAlexxander
      @NoahAlexxander Місяць тому

      It totally can, when using back fulcrum. But I think its still good to have it there so it can be used when necessary

    • @jaygee8566
      @jaygee8566 Місяць тому

      @@NoahAlexxander Not sure it's a concern in the real world. Lifting the thumb helps train the rear fulcrum and isolate the back of the hand, but I can't think of anyone who has focused too much on the rear to the detriment of front. The front seems to automatically engage when it needs to/when the rear isn't developed enough.

    (I also teach,) and you did a great thorough job on these subjects. Amazing how many thousands of drummers do thee opposite of what you just covered. One of my faves is traditional grip, yes I learned it and love to use it, but ever notice [even the top tier drummers] they're left shoulder goes waaAAy down lol -- they're left arm is all curled up and again it looks like they have a 20 lb weight on their left shoulder; *straighten up!* Again g r e a t info.

    I always bring a set of new single ply heads when trying an old kit. You can tell a lot by how a brand new head tunes up. It makes it really easy pick out a warped drum cause it will sound choked, with the fundamental sustain being way too short

    • @llRoBoBinHoll
      @llRoBoBinHoll Місяць тому

      It amazes me how these ‘vintage drum guys’ totally cannot tell that a drum in the kit they’re selling is out of round to the point that it’s pretty much useless. All while claiming being able to hear when each drum was made based on the effect of a new glue they started using a certain year or some sh like that😅
