refining and building upon a previous jam, using the octatrack's arranger mode. also learned how to use parts, a neat way to mix up all the sounds during playback.

I started a track today for the monthly sim selections songwriting challenge over on Benn Jordan's community discord. so for today's jamuary jam I'm performing on the octatrack using snippets of the song in progress. Oops about the camera framing... :D

this one is bizarre. more elektron octatrack mkii production and performance practice, with backup from model: cycles. I tried to use as many notes from the full chromatic scale as possible, and also threw in a vocal chop from myself and a pitched down hatsune miku.

got a late start! today I tried out the fill mode on the octatrack. I had a little trouble because the trig condition that is 'while not fill' is denoted by a line above the word fill, which I failed to notice. so when the trig kept trigging when I wasn't in fill mode, I was very confused. lol! eventually I looked eyes and it got sorted.

today I learned how to do midi sequencing on the octatrack mkii. I brought in another elektron device, my beloved model: cycles to provide the fm goodness. I also incorporated some live resampling, track mutes and filter sweeps to evolve the track over time. it is a very windy day today!

wow the octatrack is neat. I set it up to be a live remix machine, and sampled parts of my previous 5 jamuary jams in, creating rhythms and such with snippets. then I used the octatrack ability to sample in and resample itself while still playing back to replace some of the previous audio content and evolve the whole jam. its a glitchy mess and I love it. time for a well deserved screen plastic...

continued octatrack training via expansion upon jamuary 02. added some percussions and synth to the pattern, and practiced performeing pattern changes, scene changes, and cross fades while adding some additional synth pads on top.

Today I learned about octatrack pickup machines, a type of loop recorder. setup 4 pickup machine tracks and recorded stuff in from yamaha reface cp. I added one flex track repurposing an ep sample from jamuary 02 to use as a low bass. then I set up two scenes and performed using the crossfaders to affect the mid bass line and twiddled the track level knobs to bring things in and out. quick one tonight, more octatrack learning, reusing one of the ep cuts from previous jams combined with a dark drum sequence off the moog dfam. played in some ambient samples over top.

recorded a bit of yesterday's phasing loops from the sp404 into octatrack, sequenced some extra bits and a bit of improving over top. I'm still learning the octatrack, this is the first thing I've done with it.
