What do you watch off of for your videos? UA-cam or?
I love your personality ❤
Ha! I'm a CMA II with my CDT at a very well respected Dermatology practice. Your 'day in the life of a derm MA' is a JOKE. Do you scribe? Biopsies? Why dont you have your CDT? The list could go on and on! You do about 5% of what a real CMA does in a true dermatology office. Thanks, though, for giving my coworkers and I a good laugh! 👍
I followed what that specific office asked of me to do. If you have any issues or concerns about how they run their practice feel free to reach out to them. I’m glad I could make you and your coworkers laugh though🤍🦋 I’m all about positivityyyyy. Best of luck with you medical journey.
Hey, loved your video! ☺️ If you don’t mind me asking - did you specifically want to work in a dermatology office as a medical assistant? Also did you have to get your associate degree? Thanks :)
Excellent video. This is extremely helpful for those looking to get into the medical field.
You have my dream bathroom I’m so jealous lol
Instagram name? 🥺
joannarx❤️
you disappeared on us girl! come back
what should I film I miss it🥺🥺🥺
Love this girl! As an aspiring dermatologists I love this blog 🌚
Do you guys examine male penises as well?
hi yes!
@@JoannaRivera is it common or uncommon for a male patient to have an accidental erection during a penis exam ?
@@JoannaRivera should I be concerned ?
This is what I want to do!!
Can u work in dermatology as a cna?
Not sure if it varies by state but in California you can. I've worked with a CNA in plastics and she worked front and back office just like the MAs. Just find a way to get your foot in the door. Maybe try working front desk and then get cross trained. Good luck!
Joanna, this is a great video, keep it up.
Im in obgyn but don’t really enjoy it, im thinking about switching to dermatology soon
Babyyy, i did obgyn for years and leaving to go to derm in 2 weeks… i got burned out
I have phone interview at dermatology office. I am new medical assistant. Any tips? Thanks
Do you have any links to educational videos for a MA in derm?
Do u need to do dosage calculations at the job? I’m really bad at math ;-;
I'm just a scheduler at my derm clinic but I love your video I give major props to yall!!!
Great video! I’d love to know the hours of the clinic vs what time you have to arrive early and what time you usually leave work after patients and all your tasks are done for the day!
what does the liquid nitrogen do?
Hi Nicole ! Liquid nitrogen is a Gas used for cryosurgery removal of some skin cancers and skin lesions. One of the main reasons we use it for is for pre cancerous lesions such as Ak’s (actinic keratosis) also non cancerous lesions such as cosmetic removal of hyperpigmentation areas, Acrochordon removal (skin tags) etc. The nitrogen is so cold it freezes the lesion and they end up falling off. It can take from one session to two sessions depending on the size and nature of the lesion sometimes even more.
@@JoannaRivera oh wow very cool!!sometimes they pour it on the floor I’ve seen too
Are sutures removal hard? I’m scared to hurt a patient 🥺
It is not hard at all! Watch UA-cam videos on how to properly remove sutures and you’ll see. You’ll do great!
Ur voice is so annoying u talk like a diva 🤣I been a medical assistant for yrs but people think they are drs and we are not we are all the way in the bottom 🤣
🤍🤍 it’s interesting to see where your mindset is at because while you are as you said “all the way in the bottom” I will continue my education and become a NP.🤍 good luck with your MA position.😌
I’m starting my medical assistant program this fall and I hope it all goes well I graduated from beauty school as an esthetician and I wanna continue my education and I REALLY wanna work in a derm so I’m getting my certificate for MA and hopefully work in a derm 😭😭
That’s amazing! You got this. The MA certificate is great because it will allow you to get a job in any office and get your foot in the door! Good luck!
@@JoannaRivera is derm the first department you thought of?
MA/ Cosmetologist here working in plastics assisting in the OR but considering crossing over to derm to crossover from cosmo to esti. Hopeful to get there one day 🤞🤞
Omg this is the exact route I'm taking. My MA school thinks I'm crazy and finds it unnecessary but I see the benefit in being an MA
I’ve been trying to figure out what field I would like to be in I’ve been considering dermatology
It’s a great field! Definitely continue watching derm videos and researching more about it if you are interested.
I’m gonna start tomorrow lmao
Good luck! I hope it’s going amazing.
I have an interview at a Dermatology place this Friday! So nervous, but realllly excited for this opportunity!:D Do you mind me asking how much do you get paid?
Hello how did it go
@@Miss_Rae it went very well!! They already wanted to hire me after 2 weeks during my externship! But I still have 1 more month to finish my externship hours, and then I'll have a job!😇
How much is the pay if you don’t mind me asking
@@theopdominator4108 I asked for $17 starting. But remember, it all depends on a lot of things like what state you live in, what kind of setting you're working in (clinic or hospital) and if you're certified or not. Currently, I have not taken the certification state board test yet. Also, the better your are at your job the more opportunities for raises:)
Did you have connections to get this job?
nope, not at all.
“That’s a lot of cereal” Me: eats two bowls 😂😂
I swear it was more than it looked like in the video🤣🤣 when I was editing the video I was so confused because it looked like more in person lol.
Can you tell me more about this field?
I’m going to make a separate video this week giving more information about it love! 💪🏼
Hello. What college are you in?
How much is the pay per hour?
new video is going up answering all of these questions this upcoming week🤍
Are you able to help with the procedures or mostly receptionist/ prep duties
Hi, I assisted in surgery. Reception and MA have different job duties. 🤍
I love this! I just graduated from my MA program and did my extern at an optometry clinic.
Thank you! Congratulations, you’ll do amazing
Derm is the best, I feel blessed to be able to assist in surgery
Assisting in surgery is the best!🤍
What additional certification did you guys take in order to get into derm. office?
@@lifeastierra nope I’m just a MA not a CMA , in some places in California even plastics will have MAs assisting
I don’t think I could handle dermatology, the skin stuff grosses me out hahaha.
Haha, it’s not for everyone. I personally have not experienced anything feeling gross to me. I find it fascinating
@@JoannaRivera you for sure have my respect hahah. Cysts are my weakness.
Great video! Thank you for taking the time to post it. :) I'm in my second semester of a medical assisting program and I love watching these types of videos.
Thank You! Good luck, it’s a great job👍🏻🤍
Was it hard to get into dermatology? That's the field I want
I’m going to make a video on how I got to where I got, tips, and more. Subscribe to not miss it🤍
Love this!! ❤️🥰
Thank you!!
