For a mega-star like Prince to cover the song says a lot for its power. Interesting Prince changes "slob" to "slave." Meaning within meaning.

I like Prince's live versions where you hear the harmonies on the chorus. He didn't do that in the studio version. He must have been pissed on the studio version. His live versions make Joan Osborne's boring to me...

Prince is NOT one of the greatest guitar players ever. His guitar playing is just showmanship. He's not playing memorable riffs or using meaningful phrasing. He's just trying to make it look impressive by getting the guitar to scream. Sorry but for me Prince was 90% showmanship and 10% musical talent.
