Cool i have sketchbook too

Hello! I’m applying to animation schools in a few months and I have a quick question: I noticed you drew a few Existing characters. I’ve been steered away from drawing “fanart” but you seemed to have done just fine. Would you say it’s acceptable as long as it’s made clear the character is not your own, and if the animation is original as well?

sadly im from a country which is not a part of eurpean union and i was prepearing for an animation uni and since our country's economy is 30x lower than dollars i was hoping that i can be good enough to get some scholarship to be able to get in but now just because of where i was born its so unfair even how i try and study to improve it wouldnt matter... is there any other way i can do?

Hello! I am going to apply for the bachelor of animation program and when you said your works should be observational and not from photos... do you think it will be okay if I take a picture of the objects I put on the table and then draw based of the photo I took?

A sketchbook, I think, can't be unsuccessful because you learn from doing all that work. Sketchbooks are for developing as an artist. If a sketchbook is full of final presentational work - portfolio work - then it's not a sketchbook. Don't be so hard on yourself. Your work is beautiful.

I met Ed Hooks once too on an animation festival and he's just sooo nice :') And I'm really happy that although you had to live all this horror story momments in the end you were able to apply and to study there. It's really cool!

I am planning on trying to get to Calarts, and not gonna lie, I'm terrified. I'm still working on my portfolio but I'm super worried on moving out of the state into California. Which, basically means just more costs because of housing on top of the already expensive tuition. But your perseverance is so inspiring to keep on working hard to get in!! Thanks so much!

Hey! Really wanted to know if there are any specifications mentioned by CalArts to be included in the sketchbook? Are they expecting you to submit your sketchbook as it is or does it have to have film studies, gestures, animals for instance?

They say be creative and unique and not copy how the accepted sketchbooks are but the accepted sketchbooks all have the same things in common I noticed. They all have those pull out dancing pages
