Hi! The fingerings for trumpet and mellophone are the same. An f is first valve for both instruments. I've actually never played french horn, but I know friends who've said going between french horn to mellophone is tricky. Thanks for watching!

Right, but it captures the energy in the Breslin and shows his free throw. When I shot this video, I didn't know that he had never scored before and randomly started recording.

It was actually a spur of the moment decision due to numbers. Since my band director was short on mellophones, she had some trumpets try to play a mellophone. I tried it out and did fairly well. Also, I wanted to play another instrument, so it was the perfect fit. Thanks for watching!

@@Thewholeworld130 Idk about the “best” in your state. But mellophones aren’t really necessary. You already have French horns. Plus mellophones are really only used for marching band

Thanks for asking! I would recommend getting a spare mellophone if it is available. Next, during this school year, I would ensure that your knowledge of trumpet scales/fingerings are solid, as mellophone is very similar. Private lessons aren’t necessary, but if you don’t feel comfortable learning on your own it may be helpful. As you transition into playing mellophone next year, ask the mellophone section leader any questions you have.
