Billie herself directed this one-shot video, so I would say everything in it has a lot of meaning and probably that's why it's so align with the music and lyrics. That's my wildcard of a song.

I take this song as Lana singing from the perspective of the young girl, being "in control" as you put it, or at least THINKING she's in control, as if she is a child, and the "boy" is actually an older man, as the story depicted, it's as if she's sharing the other reality to the story, showing what the abused girl may be thinking. (A child cannot consent!) Similarly to her song, "Carmen" where she sings about a young girl with an alcohol problem (not unlike Lana herself) and Carmen was also the nickname that Hum gave Lolita, which ties the songs together, sharing the experience as such of a young girl. Excellent analysis from you, as always ! I was starting to stress myself waiting for your next Lana video while you took in some Billie 😅 but now you're ready for the Coachella performance of their duo ! 😊

The album HMHAS was written from her diary and is the most personal thing she has done to date. This is her explanation from an interview. That's why there was no single released before the album was released. If you listen to the entire album together you can see the “story” behind it. If you would like to find out more about her personally, I would recommend her documentary The World's a little Blurry. it is so impressive. (sorry my written English is not that good, I come from Germany.)

This is from a series of videos she did at her album release. The day before the official release, she invited fans to come hear the album. She revealed all the songs in front of the crowd. And you are correct on the meaning. Billie had friends who were in a relationship and they broke up. Billie comforted the girl, then later ended up in a relationship with the guy. She could never get over the guilt of crossing that line. She never says “Wildflower” in any of the lyrics of the song, but (coincidentally), her friend that she comforted (the woman) happens to own a company called Wildflower Cases, which is a phone case brand. I would also suggest listening to the live version of Wildflower from the Amazon series she did. It’s one of the best things my ears have been blessed with.

Billie’s brother had written this song for his band, but he felt like Billie’s voice suited it better. Billie was a dancer and her dance teacher asked her and Finneas to do a song for an interpretive dance routine so they recorded this and uploaded it to SoundCloud. It took off and this was Billie’s introduction to the world. She was 13 when they recorded it and the low budget, homemade video was a gift from her family for her 14th birthday. It was filmed the day after she turned 14.
