I like the looks of all these crotch rocket bikes but my body is too old to contort into a fetal position as I ride....lmao, I joke about it but as much as I love all the beautiful "SS" bikes and the style I'd be afraid sitting like that to ride would not be good for me? And I do like the Yamaha R bikes, R7 included but I think I'd tend to take the MT series of bikes just to sit up more? Hard to be sure until I ride one but until then, I'll watch you ride this..... peace & be safe.

It can't be FI because of emissions. Fuel indicator IS the reserve lever. I've never owned a bike with a gear indicator. Even my cbr1100xx's didnt have them. 6th gear would be nice, but it really isnt designed for such high speeds.

Yeah, bikes are getting better but unless you can quick charge the thing you'd better ride slower so ya get home w/o pushing it? You are going fast on the footpath there..... be careful. peace

I'm not gonna say this area of technology isn't kool b/c it is very kool/kewl or cool. The problem I'm seeing down the road is that there's this move to force gas engines out of use & the problem w/ that is where do you think electric is coming from? Most of all electric is created from fossil fuels(gas/diesel/nat gas/coal) so they use the stuff they do not want you -n- me to use & on top of all of that the electrical grid hasn't been upgraded in decades meaning they can't provide the electric needed thru the electrical grid w/o first spending the money from every power plant out to the public. That's the quagmire/conundrum we face but it's easy to say, "Let's do Electric" when the reality is that they can't provide enough thru the grid & it's all created thru the burning of the stuff they want to take from us.... Hey, sorry about my rant here. I do like the bike you're showing & I expect a lot more in this arena since they would like to take fossil fuels away from us - thanks for the video & hard work. peace man

mobile oil is garbage especially in a Harley, use Amsoil instead testing rates it the best!

It’s not a bike for cruising at 70mph on the highway. Outside of that, it’ll be the most fun you can have. Have an off road set of wheels to swap on and really hit some trails too. For the right person, there is no better bike.

I agree with prettymuch everything you said. That being said i still think its a cool bike, but I'm really hoping they release the R9. I feel like that would be sweet, a fully fared varient of an mt09 would be sick.

Do you feel like the windscreen reduces with noise? I went on a 2k mile road trip lately on my mt07. I had a blast but the wind noise on the highway was starting to really get to me, especially going into heavy headwinds. I feel like an mt09 sp is my dream bike upgrade but I’m concerned about having the exact same issue with extremely loud wind noise on the highway. I already wear earplugs and even then it’s just really draining after 4 hours or so

i agree i was trying to put off buying a new exhaust since i just bought my R7 but it sounds so bad stock i had to pull the trigger on the Yoshi exhaust.

carbureted 5 speed for close to ten grand out the door.

I just installed it on mt09 and hate it. It puts alot of wind on my neck/under-in my helmet. Sounds&feels like turbulence. I am 5'6 tall so maybe to keep in mind for people who buy it.

Hey brother, I know this is three years old, but I need to ask you what kind of rear rack is that on your tail?

Not that it matters much since the Bolt was discontinued in my market in 2020 (new emissions regulations, ugh!), but: I'm still of two minds about the thing. I'm sure it's a better motorcycle than comparable Harleys - as lots of Japanese cruisers are/were, but, at the end of the day, you'll still be riding a Yamaha. If your heart's really set on an H-D and you want all that history and antiquated-ness of the brand, the Yamaha won't do it for you. I did own and ride a metric cruiser in the mid/late 90s while a few of my buddies were on H-Ds and it wasn't even a close call when it came to ride-ability, power/performance, etc - the Japanese bike would run rings around the Harleys and I always had to go easy on the throttle if I didn't want to leave the Fat Boys behind when we were riding together. And it was only a puny 800cc Kawa that, on paper, only made marginally more power than the Evo. Still: There were moments when I felt like I really, *really* would've preferred a "real" H-D for all the wrong reasons. Like an engine that seemed to want to jump out of the frame while idling or a transmission that would give off that "clunk" when you put it in gear. Of course, that usually only lasted until I jumped on one of their US bikes and found out just how terrible they felt if you wanted to do anything but chug along in a straight line at 60 to 80 kph... :D

So I just sold my R7 because I ride an hour to work everyday and it just was not as comfortable as I wanted. I'm looking at the 2024 Yamaha Bolt. Thoughts?
