Greetings, I recently acquired a Ditech too, and it runs and drives great. (Mostly) I rebuilt the top end after a seized Piston and failed head gasket. I only have a slight problem that sometimes, after driving it for a while and accelerating out of a curve, it stutters for a few strokes and then runs like nothing happened. It doesn't happen very often, but sometimes. Is that normal for those Ditech Scooters? Sparkplug looks great, and it's not too rich or lean. Thaks in advance
Running again after rebuild, good to hear! Many ditech scooters stutter, it is not uncommon. If everything is good as new it shouldn't stutter, but slight unbalance in the crank can cause it and the higher the mileage the more it appears.
@knetterman I was a bit concerned at first that it sometimes dies/stutters for a brief moment, when accelerating, but all parts are in good condition, so I will probably leave it as is for now. It's running great otherwise. Thank you for your time and help.
What are the symptoms of a failed ecu on these? Do they run at all?
@@EinarLerschen its very tricky. This is the second time I come across this. No fault codes were present, but injection did not work. Tested by hanging the injector loose on the bike to see the fuel spraying, after fitting a known working pump and injector from another scooter.
@@knetterman Okay, guess Ill have to look into the fuel pump, compressor and compression first for my problems. Mine starts instantly but dies after 1 second, this have to be done about 10 times to get it to idle. Sputters like hell around 5-7krpm but if one gets above that, it can be driven.

Ik heb exact deelfde en ook zo'n accu en hier de gehele printplaat uit de originele accu weggelaten dus rechtstreeks de ali accu van 100.000 mah op stekker vd scooter zoals jij hier, ik moet nog testen wat ik kan halen maar zou 100km moeten worden nav de 100.000 mah ( haha) , geinig scooterjte maar die accu he...
@@kees3056 wat Ali op die accus zet geloof ik niet. 10 km per Ali express accu, gok ik.
@@knetterman kom net terug van een ritje met een 100.000 mah accu en raad eens, 10,5 km totaal afgelegd en de laatste 1 km moest ik lopen dus omgerekend is het 100,- per 10 km op blauwe ali accu wat misschien klopt in een gemeten piek maar in realiteit behoorlijk misleidend uitvalt. Ik ga de mijne terugsturen en ze zoeken het maar uit daar. groet.

Always nice to see ditech videos. Keep em coming! Did you measure the fuel pump pressure on this one? Would also be nice to see a video from that. Do you measure it while cranking and do you remove the spark plug wire for that? Or do you measure it while running with a T-adapter for the meter?
Don't own a fuel pressure gauge at the moment. Testing the fuel pressure can be done by checking if the injector sprays fuel when removing it and then crank the engine. This doesn't work if the regulator in the injector is bad. It regulates 2.5 bars. If fuel comes through I assume the pressure is higher than 2.5 bar. Also one could take a 2.5m fuel hose. Take the pump of scooter, put the pump on the floor and put the hang the hose 2.5 m up in the air and put 12 volts on it. If fuel comes out the top it should have 2.5 bar in theory.
@@knetterman That is some good reasoning, alltho I did purchases a fuel pressure gauge on mine already. Planning on putting the piaggio ditech sr on the road one day again. Mine has some serious cold starting issues. It starts always on the first crank and immediately dies after 1 second. I have to do this like 8 times and then it idles. Running is awful sputtering alltho it clears on certain rpm-range so one can squuese the acceleration atleast to some point but nowhere one could say it works.

@@sg_tuning You need Minarelli frame or make custom minarelli mounts, the morini mounts don't fit the minarelli. Minarelli engine Minarelli wiring loom You're better off finding a actual minarelli or try to fit a Piaggio engine, then you still need to cut off some of the frame to fit the subframe, and you need a Piaggio engine and wiring loom.

Hi! Did you repaired a fuel pump?
@@nicusecan7998 nope, only cleaning or swapping over components. There are one way valves in the housing that can leak and there is no way to repair this as I know of. It can cause low pressure because fuel can then circle inside the pump instead of pumping through. Also the small piston can wear or the seat of the crank rod can break. Can't find any new parts when that happens.....
@@knetterman Understood . And when you did the cleaning you make them function well again ? What solution do you use for cleaning them inside ? I Kno w that the acid winegar its good olso for carburetors cleaning
@@nicusecan7998I use brake cleaner, or washing petrol. They don't always improve after cleaning, sometimes they are just worn.

@@nicusecan7998 unlikely to work because it is designed especially for the injection system. Maybe with a pressure regulator from a car inline it could work, but still think the volume or pressure will be too low.

Hey hallo kun je ook een andere brandstofpomp monteren dan de originele? Mijn brandstofpomp is stuk en een nieuwe is vrij prijzig
De brandstofpomp is specifiek ontworpen voor het system, dat maakt het lastig. Weinig volume maar wel hoge druk, als ik het goed zeg. Heb eens een inline brandstofpomp van twee tientjes van een auto geprobeert, werkte niet ook al zou deze 2.5 bar kunnen leveren.
@@knetterman ik heb er nu eentje besteld die 3 bar moet kunnen doen,ik probeer het gewoon ff. De oude brandstofpomp doet het wel maar het plastic ringetje waar het asje in komt binnenin is afgeknapt helaas. Ik zie wel een pennetje zitten die je eruit kunt drukken maar dan moet er nog wat nieuws in komen,daar zijn vast geen onderdelen voor te vinden.

Hello i just did a rebuild and crank was moving stiff so i wanted to ask if you had problems with the crank afterwards?
You may need to center the crank, use a center point on both ends and a hammer. Tap both sides and the crank should come loose.

Hello, is there any chance how can I reach to you? An email address? I would like to ask a fiew questions about my '01 SR50 Ditech. I've watched the entire playlist which was very, very helpful. Lets start things like this: The engine was fully rebuilt, new piston, rings, you name it. The mechanic told me that the green injector works fine (I have no ideea about the blue or the air injector, I didnt asked about that one). And I have seen that another cause might be the air compressor, which fails to build enough pressure, which is 6 bars. I bought the scooter from someone, before buying it from him, it started like a charm. When I brought it home, it started to wet the sparkplug, I changed it with an NGK, CR8E. After the engine was rebuilt, it stopped wetting the sparkplug, but it doesnt start anymore, the starter cranks the engine but still doesnt want to start. In conclusion, the cause might be that stupid air compressor or the blue injector, the air injector to be more exactly. Is there any way to clean the blue injector and will it make a difference by changing the rubber seals around it and the white teflon rings? Is there any way I can restore the air compressor to work just fine by cleaning it at home or do I have to buy another one. To be honest, Im quite scared to pay 60€ on a used one, I dont even have the assurance that it might work properly. Please respond, let me an email address or some way to chat, I haven't seen someone more skilled in making a Ditech to start 😅
I've never seen aftermarket cilinderkits that work for Ditech, it is always suitable for carb only even when it says Ditech. The Aftermarket cilinders can work, but the pistons don't. You need to make sure you have the original meteor 6131(could be 3161 I forget). 6 bars of air pressure is enough according to the manual(should be between 4-7 bar). It is important that the pressure stays/ doesn't drop, no leaks. Also CR8E never worked for me in the long run, try going back to CPR8E or Champion(I forget the number it's in a couple of videos)

I don't sell them unfortunately, they are hard to find. You'll have to get lucky. Sometimes they are on ebay marketplace.

It was clamped incorrectly, or there was a small crack in the line. I refitted the clamp, it wasn't fully on.

Could be bad. A ditech 2 stroke injection will run even without crankshaft bearings. Im curious too cause my ditech has similar weird sound and slow gas respons
Can you please show how to change morini bearings? As morine has 3 crankshaft bearings while all other scooter engines pia/mina/peugeot all have 2 crankshaft bearings

Zie het helaas vaak zat bij die 4t piaggio scooters. Distributie ketting is erg slap en verspringt vaak van tijd als die te slap word. Onderhoud is erg belangrijk.
@@ZipKroon als hij verspringt dat hoor je al.gewoon alles op tijd zetten en klaar.die kettingen kunnen wel wat aan zeker met 80 cc.vaak is dat nokkenas tandwiel die loskomt omdat die bout met ring onder niet goed gemonteerd en vast gezet.

hey man idk if you will still reply but im looking for an answer i swapped my morini to minarelli too but i have bad spark and i think the timing is off so did you change the cdi or any electics from morini to minarelli or are they compatable?
Morini has an DC ignition, Minarelli has an AC ignition. Different CDI, Different wiring loom. I used only the parts from a Minarelli, but the frame used to have a Morini subframe. I don't own this scooter anymore, but I'm restoring another SR50 with the Minarelli engine currently. I will upload more on that in a couple of weeks.
