Wow, she’s absolutely gorgeous! I remember my mom telling me she’d died, and I didn’t comprehend the gravity of it at all. “Oh, the old lady in that show died? That’s sad, I guess.” 66 isn’t that old at all. And she was clearly very health-focused. Life can be so cruel.

I first saw Diana singing on an award show, then on the Tonight Show, back when Johnny Carson had rotating guest hosts (that night it was David Brenner). Her singing was spot-on, and it was LIVE, no overdubbing. Glad to see that she is still in top form.

You can see by the comments that Mel was loved and respected by everyone. That’s extremely rare. A wonderful man.

Shari Lewis was the kind of talent you only get once in a blue moon. Still funny 70 years later, gorgeous, and could sing/joke/dance with the best of them. RIP Shari. As a 90’s kid my mom loved watching Play A Long with me. Sad to have lost both painfully early to cancer. Only the good die young sadly. So glad to see this all these years later.

I was 10 when she passed away and I feel as if a major part of my childhood died with her. I loved her,and lambchop growing up. Even now,as I type,I'm sitting here with my 2 year old ,who can't get enough of her. She was truly a beautiful, talented individual. May she rest in peace.

So, the entire episode, which is also easily found on UA-cam (it's called The End of the World, season 1, episode 30, 1958) is about a guy named trump who comes to the town to tell them that meteors are going to rain down at midnight (the Perseids meteor shower), and he can help them build a "wall" that will protect them. This "wall" is umbrellas that have been painted with markings and supposedly have some magnetism or some kind of thing that will repel the meteors. So he swindles the town into forking over their possessions to buy these umbrellas to save their lives from the meteors. It's a fairly typical "snake oil salesman" story - it just so happens that the nefarious character is named Trump. Could be definite similarities to today's Trump, but no more similar than the countless stories like that that have been told throughout the ages. Even the term "big lie" - the whole reason we use that term now is because of its history. The show is not predictive, it's more that what's happening now is just history repeating itself and people falling for the same scare tactics over and over, just packaged differently.

i was today years old when i suddenly realized SHE WAS PUPPETEERING AND VOICING LAMB CHOP THE WHOLE TIME. i realize that makes me sound like a moron, and maybe i am, but i remember watching lamb chop as a little kid and i think i always just thought someone else was doing lamb chop. hadn't really thought about it in years, so my childhood assumptions have just carried on right into adulthood. but no, that was her the whole time. jfc that's so impressive.
