Kinda wrong. Your comparing an older intel via a m3 MAX. It is NOT a fair comparison. And no, a 14th gen intel I9 isnt affected by the intel issues (its tdp is 55w) it destroys the m3 max with a 10% better overall multithread performace which is quite significant. Geekbench 6 is also very biased towards arm chips. Using linux on an i9 would probably make it 15-20% faster. And, you can lower the tdp and they are pretty simmilar watt for watt, just that the i9 can hit higher clocks and such. Id suguest actual benchmarks, like blender, cad, and NOT geekbench because geekbench is native which most apps arent. Its also like 2000 dollars cheaper and can have more ram.

Bought this guy and hated it. It's bulky and heavy, stand makes it take up too much room, the speaker is awful, the higher frame rate wasn't compatible with my PC (only works with the display port), and there was brightness fade in the corners! Was definitely not worth the price tag. Maybe if you can get it for $200, but it's not worth more than that.

One edit is needed in regards to the SSD's. You can actually upgrade and replace the smaller M.2 2230. The laptop is compatible to support two M.2 2280 NVMe SSD's. The bracket can be moved and adjusted to fit a M.2 2280 size SSD. It's very simply to do so. The only thing is that depending on the SSD's in that slot you are replacing it with; you might want to consider a heatsink. You can get the exact dell one just like in the second m.2 slot below on Amazon or other low-profile heatsinks from third parties as well. But, this laptop can for two full sized GEN 4 M.2 2280 just adjust the bracket the original M.2 2230 SSD is sloted. Hope this helps :)

Void linux is def great on older hardware or very under power laptops such as my Celeron N4120 and with about 8gb of ram and 64gb. Quick question what did you use to add the cpu speed and cpu temps on the top bar.

This review and the commentary below is just sad. First, the Intel chip using DDR4 RAM are for system memory and the Radeon graphics has onboard RAM of it's own. Unified memory is just memory shared between CPU and GPU. Considering that CPU and GPU are now on the SoC, it makes sense to call it unified. In the IBM compatible world, this is called hypermemory. Hypermemory is where hardware manufacturers tried to steal system memory for graphics. The reason the Intel i9 loaded faster is that it does not have performance and efficiency cores, just one type and is drastically overpowered for what is available in ARM chips, which the M3 is an ARM type. The M3 Max is likely using the 8 (or 10) performance cores on booting or it could be using the 10 (or 12) efficiency cores but not necessary to use both. Single thread processing or multi-thread processing is also a factor. The BIOS booting up MacOS is likely not meant to multi-thread as it is going through POST, or power on self test. That's the reason that M3 Max is tearing up your i9 on applicable use and dragging in boot. I would say that one thing you Mac fanboys can learn from the PC world is how the hardware is structured and works together. You would understand how the 32GB unified memory is comparable or even superior to the 64GB DDR4 RAM. It's about bandwidth (bits across the bus) and frequency. There is DDR, double data rate, and there is HBM, high bandwidth memory. This is where unified memory has likely switched from the former to the latter and the memory size allocation doesn't matter. It's how fast can you load and unload into the memory space, not how much you have. Also by moving the CPU and GPU together, you reduce clock cycles to transfer data between them. You can thank Microsoft for this as they rewrote their APIs with Vista from XP that revolutionized this. I found this comparison useless and only bought a Mac because having a high performance PC desktop and a laptop running Windows is useless and more people are adopting expensive Macs.

I have the i9 5600M 16 intel MBP 32 RAM 1TB and the 14" M1 Pro, if you have both keep them, some plugina and apps don't work well on the ARM chip and the other way around both are great machines for varies usage.
