Great review. Thank you for sharing. One question, can you remove the central column? I would like to use it (some times) without the tripod.

I have a Velbon Ultra Maxi-L tripod that is aaaalmost exactly the same, but more spindly and lighter :) I love it though, but I use it mainly for stationary video, not panoramas and stuff. But, it's become my favorite by far, my heavier tripods are in storage now... so I naturally become interested in this one as well :x Cheers!
